Ask a Simple Question 21: Dunkadooballs!
« on: December 22, 2010, 11:43:41 AM »
And...new thread up.
[Spoiler]
A gygaxian dungeon is like the world's most messed up game show.

Behind door number one: INSTANT DEATH!
Behind door number 2: A magic crown!
Behind door number 3: 4d6 giant bees, and THREE HUNDRED POUNDS OF HONEY!
They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...
Best metaphor I have seen in a long time.  I give you much fu.
Three Errata for the Mage-kings under the sky,
Seven for the Barbarian-lords in their halls of stone,
Nine for Mortal Monks doomed to die,
One for the Wizard on his dark throne
In the Land of Charop where the Shadows lie.

Q1: What's stopping a Psion from capturing and somehow keeping on his body, enemy Psions, and using their powers (they'd need to be unconscious, of course)? Using Polymorph Any Object + Quintessence, maybe?

Read, every day, something no one else is reading. Think, every day, something no one else is thinking. Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do. It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.

cause i had no answer yet:

Q2
when you use a total defense, you cant make attack of opportunities
if you have the feat defensive throw from Cwarrior, can you use total defense with it? it doesnt say it is an AoO but it says "This attempt counts against your allowed attacks of opportunity in the round"

so, does it work?

"Counts against your allowed attacks of opportunity in the round" sure sounds like it makes it an AoO to me.  Doesn't work.

but count =/= is

and thats the only thing it says about AoO unlike other stuff like evasive reflexes which says: "when an opponent gives you a chance to make an attack of opportunity"
but to me it seems that the phrase at defensive throw is just there to limit the uses per round, esp if you consider examples of other stuff too:
you can still power divine feats via turn undead attempts even though you somehow are not allowed to actually turn them, you just use the pool of attempts

also it would have some really really stupid requirements if it would be an AoO cause you can only make 1 AoO per opponent and then combat reflexes would to exactly nothing for this feat, even if you need it for it

Q3: What ways are there for druids to control/become/have an animal companion of vermin? I know of the feats in the ECS, but are they the only ones or others that do it better?

I've never heard of total defense denying the ability to make AoOs. Where is this at?

The other psions? :P Take a level of Thrallherd. It's easier than worrying about a horde of angry psions escaping and turning on you.  :D

Q 5 Is there a way for a non-outsider (ie human, dwarf, high elf, half-elf, gnome, etc) to polymorph into one (ie horned demon) without having to take templates (ie half elemental)?

Star elves get outsider type, I think.

That's fine. My question though is "non-outsider". I'll change the example.

No, but they have the extraplanar subtype and are affected by banishment, dismissal, and similar effects as though they are outsiders.
