Obligatory post because Nax is heavily based on Hellsing's Alucard.  :D
"Well then. It's time we began the first act!"

Nax, waving his staff in the air like a conductor's, commands the shadows begin skulking about and draining workers to death. Escalation is inevitable. Soon everything will be death and mayhem and murder. For all his calm demeanor since he was discovered aboard the Judas, Nax sure seems to enjoy himself with a huge smile on his face as he conducts his symphony of dread.

Phaedrus:
The sphere houses the controls of the monolith. Entering or exiting requires an expenditure of psionic energy (power points), which opens it for a certain length of time to a certain number of creatures.
As Nax conducts, the shadows swarm through the air towards the monolith, raining down on the workers and overseers amid cries of shock and fear. New shadows arise quickly, and the number of undead begins steadily increasing. Desperate overseers begin hurling bursts of energy into the shadows, but their efforts seem pitiful against the vast army of darkness.
The thoughts of the various workers and overseers in range change rapidly at this from thoughts of boredom and fatigue to those succinctly described as "OH FU--"
Eddie says "Hmm... seems too easy. Ah well." and covers the entire monolith with an Ectoplasmic Wall from the "projector". At the same time, Probe opens the Enveloping Pit, so Eddie can make psychic contact with the control center of the monolith.

The shimmering ectoplasmic wall springs into existence, cutting off the panicked workers who had been fleeing from the apocalyptic nightmare. Some workers attempt to fight back against the shadows, but their construction tools pass through the wraith-like undead harmlessly.

Amidst the chaos, the psicrystal unfurls the Enveloping Pit, exposing the Ring Gate concealed inside. As Eddie applies the correct psionic force, the metal seems to ripple briefly before resuming its previous appearance.

Eddie opens the channels on the psychic conduit up to their maximum and says "OK, it's showtime. Let's crank this thing up to 11 and see if we can't wake these dreamers up to the nightmare they're living in."
Does Master of Puppets seem like an appropriate tune? :D

I'd have no other.
"Mathilda."

With that said, Nax opened his portable hole in a grand gesture, and a guitar made of ebony and with skull motifs floated up to his hand. So he got started on an opening solo.

Eddie throws open the psychic channels, and the sphere seems to vibrate with pent-up energy. For a single instant, the shadows pause, the workers and overseers turn their heads at the telepathic signal, and not a single sound can be heard apart from the brief hum that shakes the entire monolith.

Nax's fingers curl lovingly around the neck of the guitar.

Silence.

An arm raises.

Then all hell breaks loose.
