The Mutants and Masterminds 2e core book actually had a small random plot device table to roll on, so I don't find that implausible.

I forgot Eddie actually has Psionic Revivify. I could have brought him back with no level loss. (Of course that would require Eddie sacrificing 200 XP for some dude he doesn't even know... which I don't think he's likely to do out of the goodness of his heart, being that he doesn't have one. :P )
