The Tiamat

Forged and consecrated in the shipyards of Forge World Phaeton in Segmentum Solar in M34, this ancient and noble vessel has fought and survived five Black Crusades, the 4th through the 7th, and the 10th. Since them it was passed custody from the Imperial Navy back into the hands of the Mechanicus, then through some unknown and most likely shady dealings, into the hands of House Dragmar. The ship has seen more combat than many Rogue Trader vessels, one would lose count of the number of battle's it has seen. Consequently the machine spirit of The Tiamat isn't far off from that of a tired and jaded old war veteran. Yet when duty calls the mighty vessel is efficient and wise in it maneuver's and critical in its strikes. During it's final battle in the midst of the 10th Black Crusade the vessel was supposed to reinforce the Imperial Navy near the Eye of Terror but neither it never appeared, nor did the four other vessels accompanying it. It was listed as being lost to the sea of souls with all hands only for it to turn up two decades later, the crew was in bad shape but the survivors swore it had only been 4 months. the ships chronometer bore out their belief and the crew was remanded into the custody of the Ordo Malleus for examination, at this point record of the ships crew ends.

The Tiamat however, continued to pass owners though few kept her for more than a decade or so. Oddly universal reports of strange noises, visions, and ghosts spread amongst each crew, some having never even heard the previous rumours. Most who learned it's history believe it was tainted by the warp during the years or months it spent in the Sea of Souls, probably due to this fact House Dragmar had it's interest piqued, it appropriated the ship at an abysmally low price given its fine pedigree and honourable history. Yet House Dragmar, in a break of the usual, treats the ship with great respect, ensuring that it is only captained by the finer members of their clan and ensuring it has more than routine maintenance. Something about the ancient warship inspires respect, more than simply its formidable history, but its bearing. Now it ventures forth again to ride the Sea of Souls.

Meanwhile... On the cargo deck.....
Knutta and his numba 1 gretchin Skivva, and two small snotlings.

"Cmon y'manky grot! EAT! EAT! EAT!. 'E aint eatin' nuffin boss. I fort dey liked maggoty meats? En' dat wot Rot'Gut fedz hiz squiggas?
"I dunno mebbe..I fink 'E fedm on a bit'a 'uman, eh?..
"erm... Boss? I fort da cap'm 'ated squiggas? Wont 'e get mad if'n you make da biggity-big squig an 'e starts poopn all over da dek?
Knutta stops jamming hand fulls of meat into the poor already bloated squig. He slowly turns towards Skivva. Only someone very close to Knutta would see the ever so small quaking in his face. His neck muscles, and viens in the head and face start bulging. His skin begins to get a red hue. Rage engulfs Knutta to a point that the viens in his eyes burst, turning them blood red. His knose starts to spout blood. The loud speakka in his Iron Gob automatically turns on.
In an instant he stomps over to Skivva towering over him.
"OY SNOT BALL!! SHUDDAP!! IM THE BIGGEST 'ARDEST NASTIEST GUT STOMPIN' NOB AROUND!! AN IF 'E POOPS 'ES GUNNA BE EATIN IT!! instinctively Skivva starts to cower.. he tries to fumble out a sorry excuse but his meeger whimpers are drowned out by the poor quality, squelching loud speakka. Skivva's short life starts to flash before his eyes... some how he knows whats about to happen. "'EN I 'ATE DAT NAME!!"
The sound of Knutta's power klaw slamming into the cargo deck can be heard for what seems like miles.
'Ack 'em up! Smack 'em down! Dont leave nuffin but blodd n' bits.. ahahaaha" Knutta turns and gives one of the nearest snotlings a boot. It goes sailing into a corner of the cargo area.

The Tiamat rumbled it's customary full-throated roar as the engines kicked up, it had been floating on the solar tides for almost a month while those who resided within it's metal frame scurried about with their business. As always the sea of souls called to it, the little soul-seer who navigated the tides was resting however, it wouldn't be long now though, a storm would be passing through and preparations we're being made to get underway. A voice from across the stars had reached the little blind singers who stretched their thoughts across the stars to speak with others of their ilk bearing new orders, new coordinates, a new battle to fight.

++--+Incoming Astropathic Transmission+--++
+-+From: Erobanius Dragmar; Rymandus Secundus, holding of House Dragmar+-+
The Tiamat and it's prevailing crew are hereby ordered to attend to the supply drop for the resort planet Renudo in the Eastern Fringe of the Koronus Expanse, the supplies are waiting at Yemen Station for pick-up, you will deliver the supplies in a timely fashion to the steward of House Thandis on the dark side of the planet. An encrypted code will be transmitted separately as usual, transmit the code before entering orbit as per our agreement.
++--+End Astropathic Transmission+--++

Planet Renudo
Designation: Dead World
Access Key...... Dragmar Theta Twelve
Access Granted

Planet Renudo is a world by a large lacking anything that might make it valuable. Discovered by Rogue Trader Anthilius Twyll as the end point for a particularly stable warp route, the system orbits a star in the tail end of it's prime, approximately fourteen thousand years older than the blessed Sol which Holy Terra orbits. The system consists of three planets, a burnt husk orbiting too close to the sun to be anything more than a glorified asteroid, Renudo, whose rotation is static and therefore as a side which is constantly facing the sun, and another which is forever in the dark. The third planet is a gas giant of no true value, while it provides certain harvestable gases, the distance of the Renudo system is so far from the closest station that delivery would barely make the endeavor worthwhile even assuming all went well. After discovery the Planet designated Renudo was scanned several times, it has few useful minerals and once again distance meant they were too much trouble for too little gain. When Rogue Trader Twyll finally decided to give up he offered the system which was nominally his by right of his Warrant to any who wish it for a paltry sum, after a time House Dragmar took him up on the offer, happy to have gotten some gain of the system, Twyll left it at that and was later eaten by Warboss Mash'Rok in 873.44.M40.

Dragmar used the nature of the planet as a waystation for nobles who were in somewhat questionable straits with the Arbites and in some cases the Inquisition, allowing the planet as a distant resort to live out their lives in peace and freedom. Each solar year House Dragmar sends a supply run out to the planet on the behest of the nobles who rent the real estate, the mansions are each built underground since the bedrock is the only ground which proves solid enough for a foundation to be laid, the upper crust having the general consistency of shale. There are currently three separate mansions on Renudo belonging to Noble House Jun'doth, House Thandis, and House Yurubi.

I activate my vox implant and give orders to the crew:
On all shipboard vox channels, "All crew to your stations, we make ready to sail."
On command bridge, "Helmsman, pull the ship out of orbit."
In navigator's quarters, "Navigator Omiss, to your station and prepare to guide the ship."
In enginarium, "Enginarium, bring plasma drive to full power and ready warp engines."
All vox channels, "Activate gellar field, and prepare for warp jump on my mark...3...2...1...JUMP!"
Till we meet again in Valhalla...

In the navigators quarters....

What does he think I am an? An activation rune?

On the return vox: Bite me Captain

The navigatrix of The Tiamat sits herself upon the throne of the navigator and links into the ship, feeling its machine spirit, a calm and wise old codger of a thing.

Reaching out with her Third Eye, Dultrada gauges the tides of the empyrean.

Back on the vox: ...based on the coordinates and with our engines... I estimate a 30 day journey approximately, I'll see if I can't find us favorable tides to cut that time down Captain.

A retirement world heh? Harmless at first sight, but a place where chaos could easily fester to those who knew better. Heresy lies in idleness after all. Their mission may just be one of simply carrying supplies, but Malachai  would had to make sure to keep his eyes open for any signs of corruption. More than usual that is. First in order, he would see if he could get a good look at those "supplies" as soon as they picked them from Yemen station.

Taking some notes of his toughts,  Malachai steps out from his personal chambers and goes to walk trough the ship's main corridors to make sure the crew's moral and faith are in shape, while chanting a littany to fortify their spirits.

"Love the Emperor

for He is the salvation of mankind

Obey His words

for He will lead you into the light of the future

Heed his wisdom

for He will protect you from evil

Whisper his prayers with devotion,

for they will save your soul

Honour His servants,

for they speak in His voice

Tremble before His majesty,

for we all walk in His immortal shadow "

So she wants to sass me, does she? Well, two can play at that game.  :devil
On a secure vox to the navigator's quarters, in a deep throaty voice, "And where would you like me to bite you, my dear? To nibble on your soft, succulent skin, to caress your flesh with my lips..."
I'll let her sputter for a moment, then say, in a regular voice again, "But later darling, right now we have a ship to jump."

Navigatrix Omiss glares into the vox before deciding to ignore it and continue her meditations.

Shipwide vox: All hands, entering the Warp now, Emperor be with our souls.

Realspace heaves as the veil is pierced, throwing The Tiamat into the Sea of Souls.

Once within the warp Dultrada focuses her third eye, seeking the pure light of the Astronomicon.
Awareness test (+20); Ordinary (+10 difficulty):1d100=65
Success, no degree's.
Astronomicon Located.
Opening the vox and preparing herself mentally to deal with her lecherous lord-captain again Dultrada wondered momentarily if facing her Imperial execution wouldn't have possibly been a preferable fate.

Captain, I've located the Astronomican, orientating The Tiamat now, standby to forward vectors to helmsman, charting the course now.

Beginning one of the more arduous uses of her powers Dultrada's Third Eye opened wide, peering out into the depths of the Immaterium, seeking disturbances and obstacles as well as safe passage around them.

Over the vox: Captain, I've located a section of aethyric turbulence, our first drop out warp into realspace should be in about five days,  a few hours spent in realspace traveling towards the Renudo system should be sufficient to avoid it.

"Very good Miss Omis. Helmsman, we have our course. Let us be on our way."
P.S. I'm not lecherous, but if she is going to disrespect the lord captain then she should be prepared to be teased mercilessly.  :P A lot of captains would punish any of the crew who disrespected them, I just embarrassed her instead, and I even did so on a secure vox channel so no one else heard it. Aren't I nice?  :lol

((You might recall that even Lord-Captains show immense respect to their Navigators regardless of rank. If a navigator were annoyed enough she could simply slow down your travel speed or make you pop out of warp more times than is warranted out of nothing more than petty spite. Her family receives full payment either way and you couldn't do anything but follow her instructions since only the navis know the secrets of warp travel.))

Jarvis sits quietly in the corner desk of the weapons room, applying his usual impeccable business acumen to the mounds of paperwork for the Lord Captains latest haul of weapons acquisitions. It was always an endeavor all its own to ensure all the proper bureaucratic nuances were attended to at the onset of any activity, even a routine supply run.

He nods solemnly as the taciturn Echo, the ships resident void-master enters, settling in to the sort of easy silence the two officers have grown accustomed to around each other, neither being the most talkative types.

I know, and I do respect her. I may tease her occasionally, as I almost certainly will other people as well, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect her. My char enjoys roguish behavior, even if he doesn't mean anything by it, and is likely to tease other officers as well given half a chance. I'm trying to establish a friendly atmosphere while maintaining the chain of command. Thus if someone steps out of line - like say, openly insulting the lord captain - I would rather put them back in their place with a joke at their expense than 20 lashes or something like that. I'm trying to rule with a velvet glove, rather than an iron fist. Do you understand what I'm saying?

The announcement's come over the Vox. Knutta listens closely, his eyes widen with joy as he hears of the mission. Visions of battle cloud his mind. The possibilty for violence is always increased with a mission. Giddy with joy he grabs Skivva and starts running down the halls.
"Dat Fingy spoke! You 'eard dat didnt cha, eh! didnt cha! didnt cha!"
"Ahhhhahahhaaaa!! You fink we gonna gets to stomp some squishys in dere hidey 'oles an 'ear da squirty noise dey makes?"  As he sprints down the hall random crew scatter out of his path.
