Hello everyone.
Didn't realize I should have posted an introduction here first. Allow me to correct that terrible oversight.
I'm in my late 30's, live in the middle of the US, and have a wife, 2.5 kids and 2 dogs. I was a computer programmer for 15 years or so, until I got tired of the high stress lifestyle. Moved, changed careers... life is soooo much better now. I almost never work late anymore, and I own my own business. Woot!
I've been seriously gaming like... for forever. Not just D&D, although I started with the Red Box. Today I run a 3.5 game that you can read about in Hallack's
Life and Art of Beguiling thread and I get to play in a couple of other games that alternate every other week. I've played 4E and it's a different game altogether. I like it... it's just different.
I tried other gaming systems, some mainstream.. some not so much.... and I keep coming back to D&D. Well, never really left it, you know?
The only MMO I play is Guild Wars. Love the game. My wife loves the game. Kids ditto. Haven't played WoW and probably never will. Just seems wrong to have to pay a monthly fee to play a game you've already purchased.
I'm also a big-time strategy board gamer. Games like Chess, Axis & Allies, Samari Swords, Fortress America, Settlers of Catan, Race to the Galaxy, Agricola, Warrior Knights, Twilight Imperium... the list goes on and on. I literally have an entire closet full of these games. All I can say is thank god my wife is a gamer too!
You've probably figured out by now that my avatar is not just an Arthurian reference. I used to really be into playing chess. A lot.
I've enjoyed the discussions that I've participated in so far and hope to contribute more in the future. And for those that have helped me out by taking some time and answering some of my questions... thanks!
Cheers.
