I feel like raining on some parades today... Skeleton requires that the creature it's applied to have a skeletal system. Do WoWs have one?
Sponges do...
Interesting... I did not know that.

Would the zombies action limitation affect a psion's manifesting? Would it prevent something like Schism from giving you an extra mental action? Or interfere with the use of Swift and Immediate actions?

I'm thinking a zombie dragon would be pretty nice. I could get a 10 HD young shadow dragon (which is small), and animate it as a zombie using the rules in the Draconomicon. It would still have its nasty negative energy breath weapon, ability to fly, and would get 20 bonus hit points on top of the ones from Corpsecrafter and Desecrate. Hell, it would almost be even nastier as a zombie than it was when alive. :D I wouldn't be able to activate the breath weapon while possessing it, but it would still make a nice "ride", and would be useful even when not possessing it.

It is kind of crazy that the level 5 mook cleric could animate and control like 4 of these freakin' things by himself.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

Per the draconomicon, it keeps its breath weapon. If the BW does damage, it is halved. If it doesn't do damage, it is unchanged. :D

If you were actually planning on using these things as weapons, you'd be better off to animate a bunch of the wyrmlings. They still do 1 negative level with their breath weapon, but only have 4 HD each. So this level 5 dude could animate like 12 of them, and have them swarm something and dish out enough negative levels to kill it. The save DC would be weaker, though, and a successful save negates it totally for these.

In other words, we need a dedicated Fear/Debuff build in the party :P

Meh, this is a very minor thing I'm just monkeying around with. I'm not really interested in focusing on it. My character is done, pretty much.

Ok, so I managed to get a set of Ring Gates, and an Enveloping Pit, after some wealth by level shenanigens. So the party can pass items and themselves back and forth from ship to adventure sites pretty freely without "wasting" teleportation magic. I also can manifest through the Ring Gates, and not have to worry about some of the difficulties I was having without them (having to keep Sense Link up all the time, what to do if the party gets more than 1 mile away, etc). Now, as long as we can keep the ship within 100 miles of the party, I'm good to go.

I was thinking that we should strap one Ring Gate onto someone's shield or armor, and leave the other one facing down onto the floor of the ship. Since Eddie basically "is" the ship, he should be able to look and act through the Ring Gate while it is lying on the floor like this, but anyone looking back into the other one will just see a metal slab (or whatever the floor is made of). I'll also do this in a room that is full of Black Sand, so he has constant healing, and I'll use Share Pain on the Psicrystal. I think the Ring Gate itself, and the floor of the room, will block LoE to the portal for the Black Sand, so you guys won't be constantly bathed in negative energy. :p

I realize now that I basically went to a lot of trouble just to optimize something silly, and that even though I doubled his WBL, almost half of that was spent on an item that is basically just to overcome a self-imposed limitation. I still think it should be fun, but now I'm trying to come up with an explanation for him. Why would he want to basically imprison himself inside the ship? He is basically indestructible (unless someone destroys the whole ship), but he is also trapped, and can only act vicariously through his psicrystal, or through the ring gates. So his invulnerability comes at a huge price.

So... who wants to carry my Ring Gate? :D I was thinking I'd have it look like something weird or silly, like a gaping demonic maw, or a pair of red puckered lips, and explain that as why he got it for 75% of the normal price. :p Or maybe it is tainted with evil and dedicated to Orcus, or is intelligent and constantly hums an annoying song (banana phone?), or something.

Also, any suggestions on RPing this guy, and why he'd want to permanently imprison himself inside a ship? Want to work on coming up with our collective backgrounds?

Simple. He has always been a ship.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
[spoiler]Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

Lucy would volunteer in any of these cases. :D She'd probably toss it around like a frisbee or otherwise play with it, though.

This game is gonna be awesome.

My Bugbear Cohort is a frontliner, he could wear is as a sort of armor crest...
And he should be close enough to the enemies for most of your powers to affect them methinks :)

And agreed, this is going to be awesome :D

Looking at Lemmy and our "ship", I sort of feel like my character isn't nearly cheesy enough as is...

EDIT: Someone proposed naming the bugbear Pedobear. I know it's a meme about some bear that's a pedophile, but just what exactly is this bear? EDIT 2: Nevermind, just googled it.

Hmm... yeah, that's definitely one way to go about it. The mechanics don't exactly fit that, but if Boz is ok with it, I might go with that.

Or maybe he wasn't always the ship, but was imprisoned in it during its creation, much like the elementals were, and he's since forgotten that he had a previous existence (or was Mind-Wiped, etc). In fact... I like this one a lot. I put down that he paid a high level Telepath to give him Psychic Revivify as a power via Psychic Chirurgery, but what if that's not all he did... How about this:

"Eddie" was originally the thrall of a powerful thrallherd (level 18) himself. As an experiment, this thrallherd Mind Seeded Eddie, then erased his memories via the psionic equivalent of the Mind Rape spell (BoVD), and reprogrammed him to function as the intelligence of a powerful ship he was building. He then killed Eddie, and had him reanimated as a Bone Creature and Haunt Shifted into the ship. Eddie now basically has no memory of his previous existence. How the ship came to be in the hands of the party I'll leave for someone else to figure out...

We could say that one end of the Ring Gates is actually a portal built into the ship, if you guys want. It has a "hatch" that can be closed to prevent anything from using it to board the ship, but Eddie can still see and act through it while it is closed, as he is the ship and the hatch is also still part of the ship, and hence part of him. I'd actually prefer if the other side was actually small enough that it could be attached to the Psicrystal, or maybe could even be a part of the Psicrystal, as the Psicrystal is basically an extension of Eddie/the ship that lets him act at a distance, and the Ring Gates just extend that distance to 100 miles, instead of 1 mile. With the Ring Gates, I could also technically drop all the Improved Psicrystal feats... but I don't know if I want/need to.

And yeah, I am definitely looking forward to this. :D

Lucky you... I've got ~14 weeks remaining till the end of the school year. (There's relatively speaking a lot o holidays in the second semester though.)

If this is starting up again because I'm joining, then what is my starting wealth? Also, can we layer items? And can we 'reshape' items to be more suitable to our tastes? I wanted to get a crystal mask (+10 competence bonus to knowledge Religion) and remake it into a pair of eyeglasses. It's still the same body slot. Also can we make our own items? Following the DMG 3.5 I can make a bracelet of Cure Serious Wounds (standard action, at will, unlimited uses per day) for 40,000 gold pieces. The cleric of deception idea I have kind of depends on being able to do so.

Edit: I guess most importantly, what level will I be?

Edited Edit: And is 50ft teleportation as an extrordinary ability broken?  :D
