Q2
when you use a total defense, you cant make attack of opportunities
if you have the feat defensive throw from Cwarrior, can you use total defense with it? it doesnt say it is an AoO but it says "This attempt counts against your allowed attacks of opportunity in the round"
so, does it work?
but count =/= iscause i had no answer yet:A2:

"Counts against your allowed attacks of opportunity in the round" sure sounds like it makes it an AoO to me. Doesn't work.
Q1: What's stopping a Psion from capturing and somehow keeping on his body, enemy Psions, and using their powers (they'd need to be unconscious, of course)? Using Polymorph Any Object + Quintessence, maybe?

I've never heard of total defense denying the ability to make AoOs. Where is this at?
Total Defense
You can defend yourself as a standard action. You get a +4 dodge bonus to your AC for 1 round. Your AC improves at the start of this action. You can’t combine total defense with fighting defensively or with the benefit of the Combat Expertise feat (since both of those require you to declare an attack or full attack). You can’t make attacks of opportunity while using total defense.

Using Polymorph Any Object + Quintessence, maybe? The other psions? :P Take a level of Thrallherd. It's easier than worrying about a horde of angry psions escaping and turning on you. :D
Star elves get outsider type, I think. That's fine. My question though is "non-outsider". I'll change the example.

Q 5 Is there a way for a non-outsider (ie human, dwarf, high elf, half-elf, gnome, etc) to polymorph into one (ie horned demon) without having to take templates (ie half elemental)?

Q8 Does the AC bonus granted from Mage armor stack with other forms of armor. (Sorry if this is a really simple question but I don't have any of my books with me at the moment.)No. It gives you an armor bonus to AC, basically just like wearing armor. Bonuses of the same type do not stack. Mage Armor isn't actually real armor, and so can't even be further enhanced by something like Magic Vestment, either. You're pretty much stuck with the +4, unless you use one of the higher level versions.
To add to this it also doesn't stack with bracer of armor either. As those are an armor bonus as well, they actually use mage armor as the spell to create the enchantment.Q8 Does the AC bonus granted from Mage armor stack with other forms of armor. Q293:Flurry as in flurry of blows via a monk, or do extra attacks as if you had the Rapid Shot feat for whips?
Is there a way to flurry with a whip? Preferrably via a Feat?
Done. Go either Kensai (fighter variant) 2 and Kensai 4 for Rain of Blows and Storm of Blows (-3 for 1 extra attack, -6 for two), or go Lasher 3 and Lasher 8 for Crack of Fate and Crack of Doom (-2 for 1 extra attack, -4 for two). You may have to talk to the DM is you want to try stack them. These stack with Haste, so if you put the Speed property on your armor or shield (MIC), you'll get three 1 round boosts for a swift action each.Q293:Flurry as in flurry of blows via a monk, or do extra attacks as if you had the Rapid Shot feat for whips?

Q10: Per the SRD, temporal acceleration states that: "splintered or partitioned minds within your own mind, such as might be in effect through the use of powers such as schism, are not temporally speeded up, even if your second mind manifested this power." If, however, I manifest schism after manifesting temporal acceleration, can my partitioned mind take actions within that temporal acceleration?

Would a Sha'ir without any divine spells retrieved be able to use a wand of a divine spell from their allowed domain list, or would he need to UMD the wand?A7: Seeing as there is such a thing as a Known and an Unknown Divine Spell, I'd say you can use that item.

I think the size issue and the fact that the Lycanthrope template specifically states ONE animal/creature makes a murder of crows a bit iffy at best.q 11. what are some ways to make a 5th level character highly mobile. such as higher move speed, d.door etc. looking for something can be done often.Shadow cloak (dotU) gives abrupt jaunt 3/day.Murders of crows (ToM) have the animal type. A swarm is one creature. It is not one animal, though.
But, yeah, you have to be a gnome or a halfling or something. No biggie.

Doesn't have to be one animal. Just one creature with the animal type.
It's not particularly broken, and it's really cool, so I don't see any issue with allowing it.
Yes, but fortunately 'animal' is explicitly defined shorthand"The lycanthrope takes on the characteristics of some type of carnivorous or omnivorous creature of the animal type ""This animal can be any predator, scavenger, or omnivore whose size is within one size category of the base creature’s size (Small, Medium, or Large for a Medium base creature)." Q16: In Oriental Adventures, there are two items you can add to a chainshirt that gives it +1 AC each. If you have an enhancement bonus on all three items, would the total bonuses stack? So, for example, I have a chain shirt +5, and a dastana +5. Is my armour bonus to AC +10 or +15?

That's okay. Let's change it to a vampire lord instead. Dastana's explicitly do stack with othr armor. Still, the enhancement bonuses to armor wouldn't stack so you would have +10 Armor bonus to AC.Yes, but then the question becomes: Is the +5 dastana's armour bonus +1 or +6? That is, does the game see only an item's total armour bonus or does it see each individual part of the bonus and act accodingly.
In that example, it would be +7, since the +5 is enhancing the Leather and not the Chain Shirt. If that is the case, then the total AC bonus of a +5 dastana would be +6...

Q 17c Do you need Corrupted Wild Shape to use the Polymorph spell, or would you just use the spell as if you did have the feat?
Hmm. Alter Self still works, as does Fiendform, both Holy Transformations, and both Infernal Transformations. Those don't require a "living" being. Weird that Polymorph doesn't work too. Undead Creatures cannot use polymorph

I think Corrupted Wild Shape does not allow an undead to polymorph. Only to use wild shape.
I think it's weird that an undead druid can have an animal companion.Almost as weird as druids being able to have vermin as their companion.
Yes, but fortunately 'animal' is explicitly defined shorthand"The lycanthrope takes on the characteristics of some type of carnivorous or omnivorous creature of the animal type ""This animal can be any predator, scavenger, or omnivore whose size is within one size category of the base creature’s size (Small, Medium, or Large for a Medium base creature)." "The lycanthrope takes on the characteristics of some type of carnivorous or omnivorous creature of the animal type (referred to hereafter as the base animal). "
Hmmm... now I'm considering making an anthropomorphic murder of crows.
RAW, yeah, you can be a lycantropic were-murder of crows, so long as your base race is halfling or kobold or something else [small].4 animal HD. Murder of crows is 4 HD.
Natural lycanthrope would be LA+3, +3 animal HD, IIRC, and afflicted is LA+2 and 3 animal HD.
Q 18 Buddy and I are talking about summoning creatures, and he said he recalls hearing about a bag or hat in D&D that worked like a magician's hat. Like the old Bullwinkle Moose "Hey Rocky. Watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat." Is there such an item? If it's homebrew that's fine too. I'm sure it's just something like summon monster 1 or summon nature's ally 1, but the idea that this item actually exists somewhere intrigues me. If not I'll probably make one up, but I was interested in whether or not it did other stuff too.
Q 19 Just to add to that, is there a bag of snakes? Like a Snakes on a Plane kind of bag of snakes? I mean besides putting snakes into a sack and releasing them that way.
Not bad. Probably wouldn't take much to change it up thematically. If I could figure out why it's so cheap (900 to 6300), I could probably build my own for question 19 if the bag itself doesn't exist. Just don't get why the tan one's so cheap. Especially considering they last for 10 minutes.Q 18 Buddy and I are talking about summoning creatures, and he said he recalls hearing about a bag or hat in D&D that worked like a magician's hat. Irrelevant, since you've now got two enhancement bonuses to your armor bonus. Overlapping applies. In that example, it would be +7, since the +5 is enhancing the Leather and not the Chain Shirt. If that is the case, then the total AC bonus of a +5 dastana would be +6...
If that is the case, then the leather and chain shirt example would have an AC of +9, not +7. It is either looking at the whole AC bonus, or partial. they all overlap, take the highest only. Dastana are special case items the increase an existing armor bonus by an untyped 1, so they stack, but multiple types of armor (btw, anyone who argued that wearing multiple sets of light armor is still light I would smack) overlap. +5 chain and +5 dastana would net a +10 armor bonus (4 base, +5 enhancement, +1 dastana). Somehow became a wall of text >.<
[Spoiler]
And my other point was that it makes no sense, from either a game or reality standpoint.you've got something that limits your movement not through weight, but through range of motion and bulkiness, and then you add something that does the same thing in slightly different points of articulation and expect it not to encumber you more? Also, historically, heavier armors tended to consist of layers, with chain protecting the points of articulation or areas where lesser protection were needed, with either a leather suit or padded gambeson (or in some parts of the world, both) to protect against both blunt force trauma from force-of-impact pushing your own armor back into you, and to prevent chafing. I would personally just steer you to a heavier set of armor for the mechanical fulfillment of your flavor attempt, since adding more armor or more coverage has diminishing returns. Adding a second layer of plating to your torso won't do a whole hell of a lot (if anything except in niche cases) when you already have one layer covering the exact same areas. The difference between the historical equivalency of what the game calls Full-plate and Banded Mail in western euro culture was similar to game stats: purpose created minimalist armor (a suit of plate, which was just forged plates of metal with padding beneath) versus multiple layerings of weaker armors (early-mid loricated plate, which was strips of metal banded together over another layer of chain over padding).[/spoiler]
I know how the real armours worked. In a d100 game I created, you can multilayer them just like in reality. My question is this: You are wearing a leather +5 and a chain shirt +1. What is your armour class? +7 or +9?+5 leather is AC +7, +1 chain shirt is +5, so your AC would be +7. I'd suggest you step up to one of the mediums and reflavor it slightly, instead, however, to actually get a more accurate representation of what that means.

How are you making the similacrum? You have to use a part of the creature as a material component, maybe you should see what kind of creature parts you can acquire first and then choose the best option....

True, the only problem I see is the "A noble djinni can grant three wishes to any being (nongenies only) who captures it. Noble djinn perform no other services and, upon granting the third wish, are free of their servitude." I can see my DM making me release it as soon as the third wish is done.
A question....

Eschew Materials is pretty great.
That's open to interpretation, actually. The "component" mentioned is singular, suggesting that it only refers to the aforementioned component (the component which costs more than 1 gp). The "just as normal" suggests you'd cast the spell as you would without this feat, requiring all components instead of some of them. Ambiguous enough to be up to the DM, methinks.A25 Noble Djinn can do it 3/day.

Eschew material only works for spell that don't have a costly material component....
Similacrum has in addition to needing a part of the creature a component of at least 100 gp(ruby).....
Of courswe you could always use wish or miracle or dwermokeeper's supernatural spell to bypass needing the component ......

Eschew Materials [General]I don't really see that it excludes using it on spells that have both a costly component and a "cheap" one.
Benefit
You can cast any spell that has a material component costing 1 gp or less without needing that component. (The casting of the spell still provokes attacks of opportunity as normal.) If the spell requires a material component that costs more than 1 gp, you must have the material component at hand to cast the spell, just as normal.

Let's for example take Simulacrum. It has both a costly material component, and one that costs less than 1 gp. Then let's break down each sentence of Eschew Materials, and see if Simulacrum qualifies.
1) You can cast any spell that has a material component costing 1 gp or less without needing that component.
Does it have a material component costing 1 gp or less? Yes. So we can cast it without that component.
2) If the spell requires a material component that costs more than 1 gp, you must have the material component at hand to cast the spell, just as normal.
Does it have a component costing more than 1 gp? Yes. So we still need to use that component.
I don't see why this wouldn't work... unless you argue that a piece of a creature has a monetary value.
Q20
When a fiend with the possession ability (FC1) possesses a creature, will it regain use of it's extraordinary, supernatural, spell-likes, and spells which it loses when it is in incorporeal form, or does it still count as being in incorporeal form while inhabiting a body?
I can see ruling that a piece of a creature is unique enough to be must-need. besides, other than specific monster parts, how do you put a price on a piece of a creature? like, how much is your finger worth? It wont work.....

Q 24 Question for the Monster of Legend template. Enhanced DCs are +4 to all creatures DCs. Does this include spells? Also, casts as a 5th level cleric with those three domains on list. How many total spells do you get for each level? Do you get the "+1" domain spells too? What about for ability modifiers (like if the creature had WIS 20)?
I always threw a level of cleric in there as well for the skill bonus spells that you can either memorize, or have as a wand.q 23. wheres the diplomancer stuff?
I was under the impression, it was primarily in the arse?
Oh wait, that was just a specific build.
Dunno where the threads are located but, Half Elf Bard/Marshal/Warlock/Dragonfire Adept/Binder(Naberius) with Nymph's Kiss and motivate charisma. Optionally heading into Exemplar to diplomance via other skills.
q 29. when a were-creature turns to its full animal form does its intelligence drop to animal int ie: wolf? crow? No. Were-creatures expliticly keep their own ability scores, the physical abilities are just adjusted by the animal's modifiers from their humanoid base.
Just planar bind a mirror mephit and call lit a day.
That is not the point. The point is that if we are looking at total AC of a piece of equipment, then a +5 dastana would add +6 AC to a chain shirt, not +1 and the enhancement bonuses of the two overlap. Either we stack the total AC of the equipment or we look at every piece of equipment as though it has two distinct AC values and pick only the highest.I know how the real armours worked.

The difference is that the dastana stacks its AC bonus, but the leather wouldn't. +1 chain with +5 dastana would be +10 armor bonus (4 chain, 6 dastana, enhancement bonuses overlap). Dastana are a weird niche case item, though. That is not the point. There is no difference with a +5 dastana on top of a chain shirt and a +5 leather on top of a chain shirt (except that the dastana stack and the leather doesn't) in terms of calculating enhancement bonuses. If we look at the leather armour's total AC bonus (+7), then we must also look at the dastana's total AC bonus (+6), before deciding whether they stack with the chain shirt or not. If we look at components, then we'd end up with a +5 chain shirt either way.
It is one or the other. You can't have both.
I think the point he's trying to make is that if the Enhancement bonus to AC and the Armor bonus to AC are considered separate, then someone wearing a +5 leather armor and a +1 chain shirt should count the armor bonus from the chain shirt (higher than the leather armor's) and the enhancement bonus from the leather armor (higher than the chain shirt's).The difference is that the dastana stacks its AC bonus, but the leather wouldn't. +1 chain with +5 dastana would be +10 armor bonus (4 chain, 6 dastana, enhancement bonuses overlap). So in the end, it's really just a roundabout way of asking if Enhancement and Armor bonuses on items are separate or not.
Personally, for some reason I was always under the impression that Enhancement bonuses on armor count as bonuses to the armor's Armor bonus, rather than straight Enhancement bonuses to AC.
EDIT: While we are at it, what are good ways of getting Iron Will and Alertness? These two seem to come up again and again in qualifying for PrCs...Iron Will can be recieved with the Othyug Hole magic location in Complete Scoundrel.
Gotcha, I subscribe to them not being separate (unless it's via magic vestment, but that's completely different). The point I was trying to make and did a bad job of, I realize, was in pointing out Dastana are a special niche case where they directly modify an existing armor's bonus, they don't have one of their own (ie, they don't grant you an armor bonus of 1 if you wear them with no armor), so any bonuses placed on them also count for the armor itself because they only modify existing armor as an accessory, not as a separate piece of armor. So that +1 chain +5 dastana example would be +10 armor (4 chain, 1 untyped to armor from dastana, 5 enhancement from dastana overwrites the 1 enhancement of the chain). That doesn't work simply because only the dastana and the chai-whatever specifically allows stacking. Greaves and helms are integral parts of most armours. It is the fact that these two pieces of equipment allows stacking that makes them such pains to deal with.
While not RAW, I've always told players they were unenchantable as a simplicty thing (I've also got players who will ask if they can enchant all the individual pieces of armor, so a +10 helm and +10 chestpiece and two +10 greaves, all with different plusses for +50 armor, etc attempting to use Dastana as a reference point)
EDIT: Been trying to avoid that one, Agita, since playing from 1st level generally mean you don't have time to spend in a hole for a week... That said... Oh, DM....!Just do something really stupid and get imprisoned in the hole? Then the DM can make getting you out of the hole after a week a quest for the other players. :P
Personally, for some reason I was always under the impression that Enhancement bonuses on armor count as bonuses to the armor's Armor bonus, rather than straight Enhancement bonuses to AC.
For example, say I am wearing a leather armour +5 (total AC 7) and a chain shirt +1 (total AC 6). Is my armour bonus to AC +7 or +9?
There is no difference with a +5 dastana on top of a chain shirt and a +5 leather on top of a chain shirt (except that the dastana stack and the leather doesn't) in terms of calculating enhancement bonuses.

A31: Earlier editions did. (http://www.somethingawful.com/d/dungeons-and-dragons/barrier-peaks-wtf.php) For 3.5, I can't find one.
Q34: does anyone know if the gnome calculus(A&EG) was ever updated, and Q35: can u dual wield them?
A34: It hasn't been updated.
A35: It's an oversized sling. As with slings, you can fire, but not load, a Gnome Calculus with one hand. Therefore, if you had two pre-loaded Gnome Calculi, you could use the TWF rules to make two attacks. You'd then either have to reload as per the reloading rules for slings (which means two move actions to reload both) or pick up two new Gnome Calculi to be able to attack with the TWF rules in the following round.

SNAPPER-SAW: USE ILLUSTRATION #37. This plant has
broad, ribbed leaves radiating out 5'-7' from its bushy
center where plump and delicious smelling white berries
abound. Hidden in the bushy center are 3-6 (d4 + 2)
tough stalk-like leaves with sharp edges and jagged
thorny projections which remind the viewer of a saw. Any
creature stepping within the radius of the low growing
ribbed leaves will find that these growths will snap shut,
holding it fast, and the saw-like stalks then Rail the victim
to shed its juices and shred its flesh to feed the plant. A
trapped creature has a base 5% chance to break free, +5%
per point of strength, checking each round. Even if
successful in breaking free, the victim is subject to one
round of saw stalk attacks. Each saw stalk attacks as
a 5 HD monster, inflicting 2-5 hit points of damage.
Note: Berries can be transparent golden color or yellowgreen,
Snapper leaves are AC 7 and take 12 hit points of
damage each to sever. Saw stalks are AC 4 and take 20 hit
points of damage to break. The central bush takes 25-30
(d6 + 24) hit points of damage to kill, and when it is dead,
the leaves and stalks die. Bush AC is 9. The berries are nonpoisonous.
I know that it may seem like a stretch, but the art work from those days tended to be quite horrible. The snapper saw is Illustration #43. It's the tree with a rabbit on top. I've looked and looked, and even went through the interviews regarding the cover, but nothing. All I found was that the cover was supposed to give a hint as to the origin of the creatures, but apparently that later got removed from the book.

That is the Wolf-in-Sheep's-Clothing. Top google hit for "stupid D&D monsters" is an article that includes it.
Q32
Can Spell-Like Abilities qualify for the PERMANENT EMANATION feat (Epic Handbook)?
A32: No. The text says, "Designate any one of the character’s spells...." Therefore, the feat may only be applied to spells, not spell-like abilities. For the sake of argument, it seems perfectly reasonable to rule that this feat would apply to a SLA, however.

Is there a way to get a powerful Dispel Magic effect multiple times per day with little investment? Preferably without magic items, particularity Greater Dispelling Enchantment.
A-1
Yes, I am posting in the middle of the morning on Christmas Day. Because I have no life...
heres one i know of..
DIVINE DEFIANCE [DIVINE]
[spoiler]You can channel divine energy to counter spells without readying an action in advance.
Prerequisites: Divine caster level 3rd, ability to turn or rebuke undead.
Benefi t: You can spend one of your turn or rebuke undead attempts as an immediate action to counter a spell or spelllike effect. For example, if an evil cleric targets Jozan with a hold person spell, as an immediate action, Jozan can spend a turn undead attempt to counter the spell if he had prepared a hold person or dispel magic spell. You must have the relevant spell prepared as normal (or dispel magic), and you must make a Spellcraft check to identify the target’s spell if applicable. (See PH 170 for details on counterspells.)
Normal: You must typically use a readied action to counter
an enemy’s spell.[/spoiler]
q 44a. whats the earliest known entry to ur-priest?
44b. is there a ur-priest like class for arcane?
Well there is the Beholder Mage.
I think the Sublime Chord also gives 9th level casting, but I have never looked at the class pass a glance.
More like tenth level, period. The skill requirements are the only thing that keep you from getting into the class earlier, as theoretically one could get into it with two levels of Bard, extra music and Perform as a class skill for all classes.
A whip deals nonlethal damage. It deals no damage to any creature with an armor bonus of +1 or higher or a natural armor bonus of +3 or higher. The whip is treated as a melee weapon with 15-foot reach, though you don’t threaten the area into which you can make an attack. In addition, unlike most other weapons with reach, you can use it against foes anywhere within your reach (including adjacent foes).
Using a whip provokes an attack of opportunity, just as if you had used a ranged weapon.
You can make trip attacks with a whip. If you are tripped during your own trip attempt, you can drop the whip to avoid being tripped.
When using a whip, you get a +2 bonus on opposed attack rolls made to disarm an opponent (including the roll to keep from being disarmed if the attack fails).
You can use the Weapon Finesse feat to apply your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to attack rolls with a whip sized for you, even though it isn’t a light weapon for you.
Each +1 of enhancement bonus adds 2 to a weapon’s or shield’s hardness and +10 to its hit points.
A 46: No.Q 48 Is there a way for a whip to home in on someone when you're both surrounded by a fog cloud? Basically looking to negate any kind of concealment.

I remember seeing a warforged component that reduces ASF by 5% Anyone know what I speak of?
Q 47: Regarding this rule:You get the benefits temporarily. Each +1 of enhancement bonus adds 2 to a weapon’s or shield’s hardness and +10 to its hit points.
Does that only apply to items with permanent enhancement bonuses, or do items under the effects of magic vestment, magic weapon, and similar spells gain those benefits temporarily?
Somatic Cables (Cords?) let you roll for ASF twice, which is better.
Not to mention it means you don't need hands to cast. You can be grappling/tied up and still cast with those, I think.

Question 51If your alignment somehow permits it, then yes, but sanctified spells require you to be of Good alignment. Might work with a variant nonevil Ur-Priest.
The Ur-Priest doesn't have any restrictions on spells with alignments so does that grant spellcasting access to sanctified and other exalted spells?
I don't see how that rejects of the gods and taking a bit of their power constitutes Evil anyway. Granted that the most vocal atheists in the real world tend to complete, utter bastards, but that is more because of their own narcissistic tendencies than rejection of gods. The prerequisites for Ur-Priest don't make sense, as I am pretty sure there are good atheists as well.Question 51If your alignment somehow permits it, then yes, but sanctified spells require you to be of Good alignment. Q 78 Does the Tauric template (SS 132) just have LA +2? The wording is very, very strange.A78
The LA is only based off of the Humanoid portion (by the way, Goliath can't have the template applied because it's the wrong type). This does allow you to get crazy physical ability scores without high LA (racial HD are another story).
Actually Tauric is only for Humanoids & Monstrous Humanoids, so Goliath works. You're thinking of Lycanthropy.again, it depends on which one you read ... MM2 says only humaniod, SS says humaniod or monstrous humanoid. :shrug
Is the Goliath Medium? Tauric humanoid can only be Small or Medium. Anyway, the base creatures in question are a Water Ork and a Fleshraker. Fleshraker has a racial 4 HD, and no adjustment on the Ork. That would add to +5 from SS...or +7 if I went with the lamer one, correct?- yes, goliath is meduim (powerful build does not change actual size)
That would be using what you found. In MY SS the +1 is in the CR...as I said, it is worded very strangely.yeah, I was just pointing out that you had initially said "+2 LA" :p
Q 82: Are there any low-level (1-3) cleric spells of the Necromancy school, which deal damage and can hit multiple times per cast (preferably AoO-capable)? Something like Blade of Pain and Fear, but from the Necromancy school.Cold Domain - Chill Touch.

Chill Touch does fit the bill, but it's a domain spell, not a cleric spell. If I can figure out a way to make this work, I'm actually looking to be a cleric of Nerull (domains Death, Evil, and Trickery, unless he's gained some since Libris Mortis).

Dance of Ruin is a level 2 cleric spell... might not be a good idea to cast it mind but it is AoE and does a chunk of damage.

Basically, you touch a creature (including yourself), granting it +1d8 damage touch attacks for 1 round. The way that 'holding the charge' spells work, it would get that +1d8 on its natural attacks as well as its regular damage for that 6 seconds.

Okay, my psion manifests hammer on my psicrystal, which I previously metamorphosis'd into a 10-headed hydra. It now can make touch attacks (in lieu of its natural attack routine) for 1d8 bludgeoning damage each, and it would add any other modifiers that would apply on touch attacks (such as damage from the shocking grasp spell, and so on); this doesn't include the actual bite damage, or Strength modifiers. Alternatively it could make its normal attack routine against the target's normal AC, and add +1d8 bludgeoning damage to each successful attack for hammer's duration.Q77: Which version of the Hammer power is to be used, the SRD (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/hammer.htm) one or the XPH one? So, your unarmed attacks/natural attacks can now be touch attacks which deals 1d8+etc less str bludgeoning damage for the duration of the power. You can hold the charge and since its duration is 1 round+ you can make normal unarmed/natural attacks which will do normal damage+1d8 bludgeoning damage. IIRC, any bonuses to damage (except str) would technically count twice if you go holding the charge but that'd be stupid I guess, right? ???

I had hoped to use Binder instead, but I think it might have to be Warlock at this point. If you really wanted you could do something with spellthief and the mark of passage. I know of several low LA templates that grant a handful of teleports, but nothing better.

More specifically, if one uses Polymorph Any Object to become a Beholder, then Polymorph Any Object again to become a Beholder, the transformation is permanent.

How can I accomplish Nonlethal Substitution for spells, only without adjusting the slot and with every type of damage? Energy Substitution in addition to Nonlethal Substitution would accomplish the latter in a lot of cases, but two feats and a +1 slot adjustment is overkill for what amounts to a fluff ability for this character, and which is actually disadvantageous far more often than not (the odds of wanting a monster alive tend to be lower than the odds of encountering something immune to nonlethal damage).

Maybe you could tack on templates like soulfused construct and others that modify costructs......
Q 98 How do I go about increasing the CR of a golem without increasing their size and the racial HD is maxed out?
Apply a variety of templates. A good place to start is Soulfused Construct (Magic of Incarnum), which makes it a Living Construct, thus allowing you to apply templates that can be applied to "any living, corporeal creature", which seems to be a lot. Probably only acquired templates, but if you're the DM and are cool with stretching the rules a bit, you can give, say, Half-Dragon to an iron golem forged in dragonfire and tempered in dragonsblood, or something like that.

Not just that, but you get to pick your newly readied maneuvers from your entire suite of known maneuvers, and it applies to all your initiator classes. Since Swordsages typically get this feat, anyway, they're also often multiclassed with the other martial adepts.Q101Are the Tome of Battle classes though to be balanced against each other?Could be wrong, but I believe Swordsage is thought to be very slightly weaker than the other two. Probably due to its weaker recovery mechanic. Of course, a feat clears that up a bit. Still lose your turn of actions, but at least you get all your maneuvers back instead of one.
Not just that, but you get to pick your newly readied maneuvers from your entire suite of known maneuvers, and it applies to all your initiator classes. Since Swordsages typically get this feat, anyway, they're also often multiclassed with the other martial adepts. It's not so much a feat tax as something you'll take at the first available opportunity, like Druids and Natural Spell.
So, a pure Swordsage is likely a bit weaker than a Crusader or Warblade, but a multiclass Swordsage/Warblade is pretty freakin' beefy.

A106: No, not unless they have the spell on their list. Staffs are spell trigger items.

Anyspell and it's greater cousin will get you in as well.A106: No, not unless they have the spell on their list. Staffs are spell trigger items.
Well, a non-sorcerer could use UMD to activate the staff, but they would lack sorcerer spells to use with it so it's a wasted effort.
Q 103 If you're CN, and lean towards more evil tendencies, and have the Graced From Outside +1 LA from DMGII, can you still take a spell from the Good domain? Or, are you stuck with choosing a 1st or 2nd level spell from the Chaos or Evil domain?
Leaning X alignment means jack shit, rules wise. Can you give me the alignment based-text? If it says that neutral characters can choose good or evil, then feel free to pick good.It doesn't say. It just says that you have to choose one domain, and choose one spell from that domain, up to 2nd level.
Ah, I see. Well, it's a spell-like ability, and inherited, so sure, you could use the power inherited from your great great Ghaele grandaddy for evil. That's good enough for me. It's too bad the spells aren't that great. The only universal one is Aid, but it works for what I'm needing it for.

I see. So that means the Arcane Fusions would be useless. But how about fun stuff like Wings of X from Races of the Dragon? The Primal X spells from Dragon Magic aren't terrible too.

Q109: Any known ways of getting sneak attack beyond class levels? (And without already -having- sneak attack)
A109: Assassin's Stance (level 2 Shadow Hand stance) gives 2d6 sneak attack. From there you can get up to 6d6 SA with the assassination and/or deadly precision weapon enhancements, bracers of the hunter, and a rogue's vest (all of which increase SA by +1d6 if you already have it). Note that you can qualify for Martial Study (assassin's stance) without knowing any maneuvers by using a shadow hand item. Once you have the feat it self-qualifies and you can take the item off.

Q107a: How does the Scarlet Corsairs Scourge of the Seas ability work with Imperious Command?
Q107b: Does it make the Cowering effect Cha Mod rounds?
Q107a: How does the Scarlet Corsairs Scourge of the Seas ability work with Imperious Command?
Q107b: Does it make the Cowering effect Cha Mod rounds?
A107: The answer looks to be yes. Scourge Of The Seas extends the effect of using Intimidate to demoralize without specifying a particular effect that it extends, and Imperious Command explicitly adds its effect to the demoralize action rather than adding a new action to the Intimidate skill. Bizarrely, it seems like it would affect both effects (the initial cowering and the next round's shaken) individually, so that your target is cowering but not shaken the round you intimidate him, cowering and shaken a number of rounds after that until he has been cowering for your Cha bonus in rounds, and then shaken but not cowering the round after that.
A target that is cowering is ALSO considered to be shaken and panicked. The effects are not cumulative, but the conditions themselves are.
Q105: What effect does the kraken mantle soulmeld have on creatures with a natural swim speed?bump
A target that is cowering is ALSO considered to be shaken and panicked. The effects are not cumulative, but the conditions themselves are.
That is not true. You're thinking of shaken/frightened/panicked. Cowering is a separate condition entirely, although it is often associated with them.
The entire text of Cowering, from the SRD:
"The character is frozen in fear and can take no actions. A cowering character takes a -2 penalty to Armor Class and loses her Dexterity bonus (if any). "
This is in contrast to Shaken, Frightened, and Panicked, all of which have text referring to the other two as increasingly or decreasingly severe states of fear. The panicked state will inflict cowering if the creature is unable to flee, but cowering does not automatically imply any of the three fear states, much as (for example) the dying condition causes a creature to become unconscious but being unconscious does not automatically imply that you are dying.
This is a common misconception and leads to a lot of confused assumptions about how these states interact.
So let me see if I get this straight. I have trouble breathing. Lung cancer makes you have trouble breathing. What you're saying is that you can have lung cancer and breathe just fine.
Notice that there is nothing in the description of panicked stating that you lose the panicked condition if you're unable to flee (thus going into the cowering condition). Nor does it say in the cowering condition that you're not panicked.
Like a member of any other class, a monk may be a multiclass character, but multiclass monks face a special restriction. A monk who gains a new class or (if already multiclass) raises another class by a level may never again raise her monk level, though she retains all her monk abilities.does this restriction apply to prestige classes too?
Q114Nope. IIRC, the muticlass rules only apply to base classes, and prestige classes are excluded from multiclassing restrictions
simple yes/no question basicly:

Actually, it is. PrCs are only exempted from Favored Class rules and XP penalties regarding said rules. Q116: What are some things I can do with smite (evil) besides, well, smiting? Waging peace and all that.
Anyway, making your own homebrew PrC for a psionic/martial adept character isn't too difficult, either. Give it, say, medium BAB, d6 hit die, good Fort and Will saves, 4+Int skill points, and have each level increase the effective level of the base psionic class for powers known, ML, and PP, as well as the effective level of the base martial adept class for maneuvers known, readied, and stances known. In other words, use the idea behind the various dual progression PrCs like Mystic Theurge as a template. You say this like I'm capable of such a feat, or like I'm the DM or something. I'm not. Homebrew isn't allow in any group I'm a part of.
Plant Affinity (Ex): You are magically attuned to plants. If you prepare your spells in advance and do not have the spontaneous casting ability (as the cleric and druid spellcasting feature, see PH 32 and 35), you can now spontaneously trade prepared spells for spells of an equal or lower level from the Plant domain.
If you do have a spontaneous casting ability, you can exchange that one for the ability to cast spontaneously from the Plant domain. Once you make that decision, it cannot be reversed.
If you do not already have bonus domain spells, you now gain bonus spells from the Plant domain (see the cleric spellcasting feature, PH 32) as if you were a cleric with access to that domain. If you already have domain spells, they are unaffected by this power.on this part comes the question: lets say i am a spirit shaman 10/holt warden 10, does this mean i get 1 spell per day more (beeing a domain slot and thus adding a +1 behind the druids spell-table, making it the same as the clerics)? and in addition i can spontaneous cast the plant domain spells too?

its in races of faerun. the down side is that you have to be a dwarf. other than that would you gain the benefits of power attack using your unarmed strike as a two handed weapon with this feat?
Q120: Assuming that a troglodyte has been energy drained (1 negative level) by a wight and that it has failed its saving throw. So one racial HD is gone. Could you use that kind of troglodyte as a player character race? Is it ok rules wise, cheesy or a house rule?1)Yes you could. Strict RAW would make you ECL 4, since the rules reference the base race's HD, not your actual current racial HD. So you'd essentially trade a HD for a LA that can't be bought off. It's also questionable whether you'd be able to take a class level upon levelling up, or whether you'd be forced into gaining another humanoid HD
Troglodyte (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/troglodyte.htm) has +2 LA, +2d8 HD, +1 BAB, +6 natural armor, Multiattack(B), Weapon Focus(javelin), etc.
Q121: Could you treat that kind of troglodyte as a 1HD monster and take class levels instead of the monstrous HD (Savages Species p.13)?
Q122: If the answer is yes for Q121 then what benefits would you get? Would you gain these: +2 LA, +6 nat armor, special attacks/qualities, natural attacks and racial skill bonuses? Would you get both of those 2 feats (Multiattack(B), Weapon Focus(javelin))?
Thanks. That is what I feared. Well I'll just have to bite the bullet and accept 2 HD + 2 LA.Um no... You can level drain that 2nd RHD, replace the first with a class level and then buyoff the 2 LA. You will still have the bonus feat but as a PC you can chose a different first feat rather than that silly WF. Your DM will have every right to cry TO, however.

its in races of faerun. the down side is that you have to be a dwarf. other than that would you gain the benefits of power attack using your unarmed strike as a two handed weapon with this feat?
A: Hammer Fist gives you two-handed strike (unarmed, 1.5 str mod to damage, must use both hands). So you wield your fists as a two handed weapon (unarmed strike is a light weapon). Thus, you gain the power attack benefits for two handed weapons; also unarmed strike is specifically stated to deal the damage bonus.
So let me see if I get this straight. I have trouble breathing. Lung cancer makes you have trouble breathing. What you're saying is that you can have lung cancer and breathe just fine.
No, I'm saying you can have trouble breathing without it being caused by lung cancer. Cowering is a distinct condition which can be imposed by panicked but can also be imposed by other sources. For example, rebuking an undead causes it to cower without inflicting any of the three fear conditions. If you want to get nitpicky, mandating that Cowering is part of the fear condition scale would actually render undead immune to rebuking as, per the SRD, fear attacks are mind-affecting.Notice that there is nothing in the description of panicked stating that you lose the panicked condition if you're unable to flee (thus going into the cowering condition). Nor does it say in the cowering condition that you're not panicked.
This is true, and when you are panicked and unable to flee you are both panicked and cowering, just as if you go unconscious as a result of being in the dying condition you are both unconscious and dying. The two states are distinct even though one, under the correct conditions, can induce the other. You receive the penalties of both states: -2 to AC and loss of actions from Cowering, and -2 to skill checks, ability checks, and saving throws along with dropping held items from Panicked.
Gentlemen, please excuse my interruption here, but it is my belief that cowering is recognised as a stage of fear. I am quoting a single paragraph from the Rules Compendium here:
STAGES OF FEAR
Fear has stages—shaken, frightened, panicked, and cowering.

That is actually the first legitimate support I've seen for cowering as a fear state. Interesting, and it has the side effect I mentioned earlier of rendering Rebuke Undead arguably entirely ineffective.
That and Rebuked Undead are treated as Cowering: they aren't actually, they just suffer identical penalties.

How about drawing something other than weapons like metamagic rods or potions? (potions are alot like alchemist fire and im sure you could free action draw them)Need a potion belt. From FRCS, IIRC. Stick six potions in it, each of them can be drawn as a free action.
Q111: What exactly is the fluff on Dark Knowledge? (For example Dark Knowledge: Foe) Is it spell like? Is it supernatural? Is it extraordinary? If it's extraordinary do I have to somehow communicate this knowledge to my allies?
I feel that there is evidence that it's supernatural ability.I always rule that the archivist in my group have to share the knowledge through more conventional means (speaking, hand-signals, morse code, and so on). Should he gain telepathy in some way, that would be accepted as well. He could choose to keep the knowledge to himself so that only he gains the bonus, as I would rule that the bard could just inspire a selected few by holding a great speech in a language only they understood or hum "Bluff, bluff, bluff, bluff the stupid ogre" to himself before trying to lie to said ogre.
Bardic music (the most similar thing to Dark Knowledge) is Supernatural.
If it's extraordinary it doesn't explain, in any fashion, how exactly one goes about granting this knowledge to my allies (in such a way that the knowledge fades in exactly 60 seconds).
Q123 Is there a list of spells which can be permanency'ed floating around somewhere?A123
I feel that there is evidence that it's supernatural ability.Bardic Music is not a supernatural ability, it's a collection of both Supernatural and Spell-Like abilities. It's really not all that similar to Dark Knowledge at all, either, in terms of mechanics, fluff, or usage. You may as well compare Dark Knowledge to a Barbarian Rage.

Q127 Can you use TWF with Handcrossbows?Yes. Reloading can be a bitch, though.
Q 128 I've just joined a game where the GM limits every player to three magic items, each costing 20,000gp or less (we're refugees, albeit 15th-level ones). I'll be playing a druid, probably serving as the party tank/out-of-combat healer (we don't have a cleric). So far, the only item I've been able decide on is "monk's belt." What other items should I use?Hand of the mage combined with a constant-use protection from evil/law/good/chaos effect. Should be 2000 + 1350 + 3000 + 3000 + 3000 = 12,350 gp. If you think all four alignments are overkill, find a few other 1st level spells you want to have always-on, such as shield and mage armor.
Periapt of Wisdom +4 is a given, I would think. Tack it onto a cheap amulet (4k or less, there are some decent ones in MIC) to max it out.Okay, so periapt + hand of the mage + shield

Maybe best to go with repeater crossbows then!
Q129ECS says "everything exists in Eberron" but that's Eberron.
Is there some rule somewhere that lets you adapt prestige classes or feats requiring one patron to another. Specifically I'd like to use a Forgotten Realms prestige class that has a requirement of Patron: Shaundakul in Greyhawk but other than that one line doesn't have anything FRealms related. Normally I'd just ask for a house-rule to allow it but I'd rather have a rule or guideline about adapting a class before bringing it up. Thanks.

You have to assume that their is no relativity in Greyhawk, or else you'd never hit the speed of light. Assuming that I'm getting something like a caster level of 112,450. You may want a different mode of intersystem travel.

You are your own ally. I believe there's even an FAQ stating that.Sadly, it doesn't work that way; Squire's Burden specifically states you can't use the effect on yourself unless it explicitly says so.

Squire of Legend lets you choose from a list of what abilities to take. At no point did I read "gain an additional use of a X/day use ability."
And magic-blooded doesn't work like that. It's a 3.0 template that gives you a list of SLA at 2nd character level.
Now, Magic in the Blood technically could, but that's a Faerun regional feat, and that's much too limiting. Now I know what you're all going to say. "Well you don't have to take the regional part with it." Yes, you do. If you're allowing homebrew in your games to say that it doesn't, that's fine. But that doesn't work here this time. Sorry. If you think it's stupid, and DMs who don't homebrew like you guys do, that's fine too. You're entitled to your opinions.
But I need something a little more universal. If what's above are the only options, then the answer is "No, there is not a way for the death knight to gain additional uses of their Abyssal Blast."
Q133 I want to be a Lycanthrope with a Gargantuan animal. That means I need at least a Huge base size. Ideas?A133
Q134: Do templates change character aging? Specifically would adding a template that changes your type change at what age you gain your penalties/bonuses?
How do you apply lycanthrope to a nonhumanoid?I don't. I was merely indicating I was already aware of those two templates as adding HD. I was hoping there were others.
I believe you can use it on monstrous humanoids and giants, as well. How do you apply lycanthrope to a nonhumanoid?I don't. I was merely indicating I was already aware of those two templates as adding HD. I was hoping there were others.
Dragonwrought has specific rulestext, though.Q134: Do templates change character aging? Specifically would adding a template that changes your type change at what age you gain your penalties/bonuses?
A134: It is commonly accepted that a Kobold who takes the Dragonwrought feat and thereby has its type changed to Dragon ages as a true dragon would age. Therefore, I believe the answer to your question is yes.

Depends upon the template. Undead don't age, for example, but outsiders vary.
Well the issue is sprung from the DWK argument. I had a thought as to whether or not adding half-dragon changed or eliminated the base creature's age categories as it is no longer a member of that race, thus the table presenting their age categories and what ages there were changes in stats is rendered useless.Dragonwrought has specific rulestext, though.Q134: Do templates change character aging? I would like to chime in and note that DWK's aging as dragons being commonly accepted means neither that it's right nor that it's what a DM would accept. In fact, the Dragonwrought feat does very little to the aging process of a Kobold: eliminating aging penalties and extending the ultimate lifespan of the kobold by a small amount. It does not cause you to gain age categories as a true dragon.Check RotD again, kobold age section. DWK speciically run off another aging table that has dragon age categories.
As for other templates, a fluff argument could be made for gaining the mental bonuses on-schedule for undead templates, and not taking the physical penalties. In pretty much every other case, however, there are simply no rules at all regarding what happens to a creature's age categories once you stick a template on it. Not even in Savage Species.
That's what I wondered.Somehow I don't think so on either.Q 132 Is there a way to give a death knight additional uses of their Abyssal Blast instead of just 1/day?Squire of legend.
If it's (sp), magic-blooded works as well.
Squire of Legend lets you choose from a list of what abilities to take. At no point did I read "gain an additional use of a X/day use ability."
And magic-blooded doesn't work like that. It's a 3.0 template that gives you a list of SLA at 2nd character level.

To rephrase your question, you're looking for a method of obtaining extra uses of a Supernatural ability which may only be used 1/day, that Supernatural ability having been gained through the application of a template to a base creature, in this case a humanoid.
To answer that question, I do not believe there is any official method that may be used to attain that goal.
Actually all kobolds use that table. They also have the normal Aging effects table that dictates when they gain stat bonuses & penalties.I would like to chime in and note that DWK's aging as dragons being commonly accepted means neither that it's right nor that it's what a DM would accept. There's also no rulestext that says you're allowed to choose something other than your racial hit dice. In addition, as previously mentioned, the section in savage species refers to the base race's hit dice - not your hit dice as a character, so you're not getting ahead in ECL.
Humanoids with 1 Hit Die exchange the features of their humanoid Hit Die for the class features of a PC or NPC class.

Interestingly I found a partial answer to my question. RotD p61 under death states that Half-Dragons live longer than thier base race but don't live as long as dragons. It even calls out pairing between an elf and a dragon can create a half-dragon that can live as long as a great wyrm.

The SRD website is kind of dumb about replacing the first RHD; the actual books don't mention humanoids at all - much like the whole "dex0=paralysis", they just screwed up when they transferred the info.

Gnome Steam Bow: Covered with levers and small
repositories for alchemical fluids, and strung with a
system of pulleys, this +1 shortbow offers several
advantages. The wielder can choose from the following
three options, each requiring a move-equivalent
action to activate. The wielder can remove any
penalty on damage rolls from a low Strength score
for the next shot from the bow. The wielder can add
his Intelligence modifier to the attack roll for the
next shot from the bow. Finally, the wielder can
double the range increment of the bow for the next
shot from it. None of these actions provokes an
attack of opportunity. If the wielder spends the
time, it’s possible to set up a shot that benefits from
all three abilities.

While I'm pretty sure that many templates change the creature's lifespan, I can't think of any at all that have an actual listing of by how much (except undead templates which are indefinitely).
Q136: If you're an Strength 8 weakling druid who spends most of his time in Str 19 black bear form, could you take a strength-prereq feat like Knockdown? (Yes, I know, probably DM adjucation. But is there a RAW ruling I could point to? Or, heck, even a Sage ruling?)I would say yes, but it would only kick in when you had that STR. It's like how people do the War Hulk PrC, which requires you to be Large size more bigger, but only have access to it when they grow to that size.

What about the table on page 128 of the DMG?All right, I'll revise, then. If it isn't explicitly fluff and it's a table, then it's not fluff. Given Races of the Dragon Table 3-2 is not explicitly fluff, then it must be mechanics. It just rarely comes up (a lot like character height or weight in this regard). For example, if there was an item that could only be used by dragons of at least Young Adult age, then Kobolds of at least 6 years of age could use it too (remember their Dragonblood subtype).

On that note, if you're only eligible for a prestige class half the time, do you lose things like BAB and saves as well as class features when you don't have the prerequisites? Figure something interesting could be done with War Hulk and that thing that makes you grow a size when raging.
Yes you would lose them, but you'd still have the levels. It'd be like being a fallen paladin, but worse. Like you suddenly have negative levels that only go away when you meet the prereqs. But War Hulk doesn't have BAB. I am confused on this so help me out. If I go for a build like say cloistered cleric 2, church inquistioner 2, cloistered cleric 2, divine oracle 2, crusader 1, rkv 10 and contemplative 1 I, so far, amd caster level 17. If I take practiced spell caster I am a CL 20 and I don't get 9th level spells, assuming i have 19 wis at this point?
Thanks.

With Chronocharms can you take the same one multiple times on one necklace? EG Swift hunter takes only charms which give a swift move action?
CHRONOCHARM
A chronocharm occupies the throat body

which all function normally. However,
you can't wear more than one of the same

You must wear a chronocharm for 24

worn for an additional 24 hours.

Yes, why?
A157a: Yes, so long as you are power attacking.
A157b: Should work for Knock Down, though arguing you still get the follow up attack might make your DM a little grump. Domino Rush is a little harder to visualize, but RAW I suppose it works.

B) Would Thunderous Throw allow for ‘ranged’ trip attempts with Knock Down or Shock Trooper’s domino rush maneuver?

With just this, you only get the base ability of the soulmeld (so for Blink Shirt, it would be standard action teleportation). If you can bind soulmelds to chakras (you have the appropriate class levels, took the appropriate Open Chakra feat, or are an Incarnum Dragon (only race I can think of with meldshaping ability)), then you can bind the soulmeld to the proper chakra and get those extra benefits.

You can select multiple soulmelds that occupy the same chakra. However, you can only have one of them shaped to that chakra at a time (chosen at the beginning of the day when you shape your soulmelds). If you desire to have multiple soulmelds occupying the same chakra, you'd have to take the Double Chakra feat. That would only be available to you at level 18, as it requires you to have a meldshaper level of 9 and the Shape Soulmeld feat only provides a meldshaper level of half your character level.
A meldshaper chooses which soulmelds to shape from his
class list (see later in this chapter). He can choose any meld
on this list, barring alignment restrictions (if an incarnate
or soulborn). A meldshaper’s level limits the number of soulmelds
he can have shaped at any given time. He can’t shape
the same soulmeld more than once. Also, two soulmelds can’t
occupy the same chakra (with some exceptions).
At the same time that the meldshaper chooses which soulmelds
to shape, he must also choose which soulmelds (if any)
to bind to his chakras. The specific chakras and the number
of chakra binds available to the meldshaper depends on his
level. Two soulmelds can’t be bound to the same chakra.
Once he has shaped a soulmeld (and bound it to a chakra),
he can’t change these decisions until he unshapes it and
shapes a new soulmeld.
A meldshaper must shape all his chosen soulmelds at the
same time. He cannot leave a soulmeld slot unfilled in order
to shape it later.

Q162: An elf psion has the "Psion" subtype. Does my gnome wizard with 23 ranks in Knowledge Psionics easily identify the humanoid with the psionic subtype as being of the psionic subtype?
Yeah, although that's awfully feat-intensive for what I'm looking to do. Is there anything for simply reducing the action it takes to reload the sling? Free-action reloading would be nice.Has there been any information compiled anywhere about the optimization of the Sling? One more try.

Check out the Bloodstorm Blade PrC in ToB. Specifically, the Stonestorm Striker adaptation (under the Adaptations heading). It's a half-ling only version that uses slings instead of thrown weapons and gets to reload as a free action instead of a move action.

Q 167 Is there a sticky thread, or even a regular thread, that lists all of the playable races with LA and everything?
Q 168 If a player wanted to do a monster race through the Savage Species progression, how do I go about giving him starting gold at level 1? It's likely a minotaur isn't going to get the same gold as a pixie or medusa.

You should decide depending on the campaign world,(for example dragonlance Minotaurs are much more civilized and thus likely to have more money than minotaurs on others worlds.....

I was actually wondering about that. Hey! Perfect adventurer material!
I'd find the closest equivalent in the classes, and use that. A minotaur would have barbarian starting money, for instance.

The creature retains the type and subtype of its original form. It gains the size of its new form. If the new form has the aquatic subtype, the creature gains that subtype as well.So no, you don't get Plant immunities. You can read the details for yourself in the SRD:

Core, I'd say Control Weather, Fire Storm, Heal, Greater Scrying, and True Seeing, with situational usefulness for Sunbeam. PHB II has As The Frost, which is pretty cool. You'd have to check other splats for more. Not too keen on the others, but As the Frost is great. My type becomes Outsider, so do I gain darkvision: 60' and stop breathing? Also, I thought outsiders had some immunities but I can't find any?
Unicorn Heart (complete mage?) is a nice spell too:Unicorn Heart is nice too. Because the +4 enhancement bonus is to ability and skill checks and not to the ability itself, does it stack with say bull strength?
1h/lvl duration, gives 60ft base land speed, +4 to all str, dex and conbased ability and skillchecks and you can expand it as a swift action to use a small dimension door effect (but you can still act after it unlike with then normal DD)
PHB II has As The Frost, which is pretty cool.Wicked! I can use it with my 'Braces of entangling Blast'=more damage, slow, and entangle enemies within 15'. Perfect!
Unicorn Heart is nice too. Because the +4 enhancement bonus is to ability and skill checks and not to the ability itself, does it stack with say bull strength?yep, it stacks with bullstrenght (as they do differant things)
Q173Yes on the first two, no immunities other than the standards for no longer being humanoid.

Well, combining it with control winds lets you just hang around while the rest of the world gets torn to pieces.Q173Yes on the first two, no immunities other than the standards for no longer being humanoid.

Great, thanks. Yeah control weather rocks. I prefer control winds (also tornados) but a bit more specific control. Any good tricks for control weather?
Most useful as an army-killer, though, unless you want to turn it into a smaller locate city bomb.
Someone had a build once that had a massive caster level for a ranger/abjurant champion (I think).Search the forums for KellKheraptis's master spellthief builds. It's in one of those threads.
Anyone know where it is?
I just thought of a combo with 'Deflect' from PHB2 for epic armour class.
Hurricane Force winds which last for three hours are enough. Most useful as an army-killer, though, unless you want to turn it into a smaller locate city bomb.
Explosive spell + something to make it do damage?
Q 176 Any reason Spirit Shaman isn't Tier 1, merely for the spellcasting? The druid list is substantially less powerful than the Wizard and Cleric ones. Note the above discussion about As The Frost and Control Weather, because those two are pretty much the only two truly awesome 7th-level spells on the Druid list, with everything else only being situationally useful.
Q178 Is there a handbook for the best spells for a favored soul?Check out the 3.5 cleric handbook. The spells are the same regardless if you're a cleric, favored soul, or archivist. At the very least they'd give you a remote idea as to what would likely be the best for you to take. As well, if you're a dragonborn, check out the Dragon Magic book for a variant favored soul that gets arcane spells too. Just have to worship Bahumat.
Q 180 When caught up by an air monolith in whirlwind form, if you have DR, does the 4d6 damage get passed that?DR applies, and as long as you have your actions then you should be able to attack it (the effectiveness of said attacks is likely diminished, however).

Q 181 When fighting an air monolith in whirlwind form, can you still damage it with regular attacks?
They suffer a -4 penalty on those attacks IIRC though.
And it has an insane DR.
If an air monolith hits you, does the 4d6 from the whirlwind, get PASSED the DR a creature has? I'm being told yes AND no. It can't be both.
Good to note.If an air monolith hits you, does the 4d6 from the whirlwind, get PASSED the DR a creature has? I'm being told yes AND no. It can't be both.
DR does not apply.
Back of the PHB, under damage reduction: A special defense that allows a creature to ignore a set amount of damage from most weapons, unarmed attacks, or natural weapons, but not from energy attacks, spells, spell-like abilities and supernatural abilities.
The Whirlwind ability is (Su).
Q184:I wouldn't know if there is a way to mitigate it. As for your other question, no.

Q 177: if you level up and take ranks in skill that is a class skill to one of your other classes (not the one you are levelling up at the moment), do you pay normal or double?
A 176: You can use cleave whenever you drop an opponent and you have another opponent within your threat range, period. (So if you're using a polearm and you drop an opponent, you can attack another opponent within 10 feet of you, but not one at 5 feet; if you then drop THAT one and have Great Cleave, you can attack yet another opponent within 10 feet).
A 177: You pay double. However, any skill that has been a class skill at some point has its cap maxed (so a Wizard 1/Fighter 19 can have 23 ranks in Spellcraft, for example, but he has to pay double for each rank as long as he's using Fighter skill points to buy them).

Q179:When is a monster able to take epic feats?A179
For a Player Character is pretty clear.....
But for a monster it is less clear....
I thought that you only had to have over 21 hit dice, but draconomicon states that a true dragon can take epic feats after he gets to the old category.....
Does this mean that a mature adult red dragon which haves more than 21 hit dice can not take epic feats?
What about other creatures(non-dragons),when do they became eligible to take epic feats?

Q185: Wasn't there a spell that increased the armor check penalty of an armor by 1 but also the ac bonus by 1?
Durability (Dragon 305 – 67) does that for nonmetallic armor.
A187Thanx. Still not sure how the UA variant works btw. Since nothing is mentioned I figure WIS. But it states a definite amount of spells known and spells per day. So WIS only defines DC, which is less important for a DMM-persist melee cleric. And Fav Soul loses turning. Anyway, thanx.
depends on your class
fav soul gets its DC from wis and spells/day from cha
spirit shaman gets its DC from cha and spells/day from wis
its all stated in the game rule information part and ofc in the spells section

Q 192 I lost the answer for a question I got a long while back. What's the dragon issue that had the half-drow/half-shadow dragon in it? The main difference was it could fly at Medium size, and its breath weapon was more powerful, dealing 1d2 negative levels, and the breath weapon is Reflex base. There's one in dragons of Faerun, but that's exactly the same as a shadow dragon statwise (except for "polymorph into drow" a few times a day).
Armor with this item quality increases its armor bonus by +1, but weighs 10% more (minimum 2 pounds).

Adjudicating associated or not might be difficult, though - maybe treat it as associated if the NPC in question uses character level abuse? :PMeaning like he's got like 5 levels of associated, and 26 levels of non-assocated for a total of a CR 19? Then with the major bloodline he's a CR 22?
Q196So I was looking through the Draconomicon and something struck me as very odd.....
The Ethereal's dragon fly speed is very low especially in later stages of its evolution.....
It has only a 30 ft flying speed in great wyrm stage whlie most of the others have at least 150 ft.....
Do you think that it was a mistake or is it one of the qualities that make Ethereal Dragon the Weakest True Dragon by cr(Steel Dragon not withstanding)....
Q195: Anyone know any feats for a Gish using throwing weapons?A195:
Q197 Does a familiar get any skill points as its master levels up? If not, how can it get some? Can you teach a snake familiar to track by scent?Familiars have the skill ranks of their masters, plus skill ranks based on racial hit dice.
Q198 How do dragons get spells/feats? Do they take class levels or just learn spells to the level allowed by their mental stats?Dragons gain them based on racial hit dice. Most dragons have racial spellcasting arbitrarily assigned (they can cast from both the sorcerer and the cleric list).
Familiars have the skill ranks of their masters, plus skill ranks based on racial hit dice.
If you retrain a familiar's feats, there's always the Open Minded feat, which grants +5 skill points.
Well, note that your familiar can aid another to give a +2 bonus on everything.Familiars have the skill ranks of their masters, plus skill ranks based on racial hit dice.
If you retrain a familiar's feats, there's always the Open Minded feat, which grants +5 skill points.
So this is as far as we can go with separate skills? there are many skills that would be very useful for the familiar but rather useless for the master. Oh well.
Q200 Where can I find a list of status effects and what they do? most of my splatbooks is in English but the cores are in Polish and I have problems finding which are which.http://www.d20srd.org/ should cover it.
Planar Shepherds can wildshape into magical beasts from their chosen plane.Material Plane so we'll have to look into that when he gets high enough to try it.
OR
Have the druid cast GIRALLON’S BLESSING on him/herself. SpC 106.

Is there a way to change a spiked chain's damage type to bludgeoning?
Q202
Is there a way to change a spiked chain's damage type to bludgeoning?
Are you trying to change a pre-existing spiked chain, or do you just want a blunt chain-like weapon? Savage Species has the Chain Lash, an exotic weapon that is very similar to a spiked chain except the damage is B, the base damage is 1d6, and you can give up the reach to use it as a double weapon.
According to this handbook (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=7167.0) it does not raise ECL. The author states that bloodlines work more in the way of the LA buy-off mechanism.I can accept that.Q 194 I can't seem to find it, but do Bloodlines (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/bloodlines.htm) have a CR increase? Like a major bloodline being +1 CR or something? I see it increases ECL, but that's about it. I'm guessing this is meant more for PCs than NPCs.Treat it like a class level. Just about everything does. Associated = +1, Non-Associated = +1/2.

Not that I'm aware of, though there might be a method I haven't heard of. But if Sohala doesn't have his heart set on a spiked chain, and just wants a reach weapon which also threatens adjacent, can be used to trip, gives a +2 bonus on disarm attempts, and can be used with Weapon Finesse, in the Bludgeoning flavor of damage, the chain lash fits the bill.
There's also a bludgeoning version in the Red Hand of Doom module in theback.Q202

Q206: What would be the best weapon for a Martial VoP character to use?
If I am reading the feat correctly it can only be a simple weapon......
Q 203 If a blade barrier is cast and an Initiate of the Seven Veil is standing in the middle of it with a violet ward up, does the blade barrier get completely destroyed, or just around him?Pretty sure it isn't destroyed at all, since disintegrate doesn't do jack to a blade barrier. That said, it does still likely block LoE, rendering you immune to it's effects while your veils are up.

Q 199: When reading through threads I found on the search feature, I found mention, but no elaboration, on trickery to get 9th level discipline powers/arcane spells on a spell-to-power erudite pre-epic. How exactly would this be done?
Well he is a storm Giant he is not supposed to throw rocks.....According to the SRD he still gets rock throwing for being a giant, apparently.
Though he could make an exception.....
Yes he does get the ability,it is just that in the description it states that they use weapon and spell-like abilities.....Well he is a storm Giant he is not supposed to throw rocks.....According to the SRD he still gets rock throwing for being a giant, apparently.

Seems more thematic for a guy with vow of poverty to throw rocks.

Some abilities (Hit-And-Run Tactics and Iaijutsu Focus are the primary ones that come to mind) work only on foes that are specifically flat-footed, rather than just denied their Dex bonus to AC.
You also lose your dexterity bonus to AC if you can't see your attacker (including when you're blinded or he's invisible or hiding) and when you're cowering, grappling, or stunned.

/facepalm
So... being denied your Dex bonus does not automatically make you flat-footed? Or there are times (other than uncanny dodge) that a flat-footed opponent would not be denied his Dex to AC?
I always assumed for all intents and purposes the two were mutually inclusive.
You also lose your dexterity bonus to AC if you can't see your attacker (including when you're blinded or he's invisible or hiding) and when you're cowering, grappling, or stunned.
Okay so it's more like "being flat-footed is a condition which will cause you to be denied your Dexterity bonus to AC" rather than the other way around? (semantics, I know, but still)
It also makes Uncanny Dodge ridiculous, because the number of things that can make you flat-footed outside of losing initiative are few enough that you can count on your hands.

Uncanny dodge also covers being struck by an invisible attacker.
Q 204 What Dragon Magazine issue has the baby or young tarrasque? It's the one that you can substitute a green dragon for, after you've made a couple of modifications.
Q 206 Can someone explain to me how the dragolich Aurgloroasa's hit points are 387 with only 31d12 when the maximum should be 372? She's from Dragon Magazine 344. I see no Toughness of any kind on her.
That's what I thought too. Until I looked up the dracolich in Draconomicon. The ancient blue dracolich in that has 33d12, and 214 HP. If you take 214 and divide it by the standard 6.5 half HD that you increase an NPC by, it's 32.9 HD (so they rounded it up).Q 206 Can someone explain to me how the dragolich Aurgloroasa's hit points are 387 with only 31d12 when the maximum should be 372? All the Charisma does now is get used for its breath weapons, and other Con based attacks. It does not help with hit points, unfortunately. This is what Unholy Toughness is for in the later Monster Manuals. Or Undead Blessing, but that's a 3rd Party Splat book.
BumpA party of 4 4th level wizards can take out the original as it's written.Q 204 What Dragon Magazine issue has the baby or young tarrasque? It's the one that you can substitute a green dragon for, after you've made a couple of modifications.
Googled it and Googled it, and no my eyes are burning. It's the Gaul Tarrasque, and it's in Dragon 329. Perfect for the E6 player that wants to take on a tarrasque.
No different than Orcus. It's been revised that the Orcus aspect from Miniatures Handbook be the real deal. That same party could probably take him out and become gods.
Orcus from Savage Tides is actually more powerful than his earlier version in the Miniatures Handbook, IIRC.There is also an Orcus in Fiendish Handbook 1 and an earlier version in Book of Vile Darkness.....
He starts as a Cr 33 creature and is hardcore enough to be the end boss without it being an anti-climax.
Or at least that's what I assume from reading him and making an estimation of the optimization level for the group facing him.
Anyway, the interesting version is in Savage Tides.
Q207: Force Screen power and Shield offers a shield bonus to AC that also applies to incorporeal touch attacks. Does that apply to all forms of touch attacks, or only those from an incorporeal source?
They're [force] effects, and they affect incorporeal and ethereal attacks. Q 211 If a ranger with favored enemy (humanoid human) +4 takes on a polymorphed human wizard, and a wildshaped human druid, does that ranger still get bonuses to damage for fighting humans?
2) a massive eagle.I'd say some sort of templated roc (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/roc.htm). Maybe monster of legend?
Both at least CR:15. Any ideas what I can use? Don't care if the flavour is weird, I'll just use the stats.

The titanic creature template (Monster Manual II 218) makes a medium or smaller animal or vermin gargantuan. Legendary eagle (Monster Manual II 136) is a valid target for titanic creature. Bronze serpent (Monster Manual II 40) and dire snake (Monster Manual II 74) can both be advanced to gargantuan. A behemoth eagle (Epic Level Handbook 169) is colossal. A ha-naga (Epic Level Handbook 195) is a colossal snake with the face of a man.
Typically, you shouldn't give class levels to anything without at least int 3.
I believe the FAQ said go off it's present type/subtypes. So polymorph, yes. Wildshape no. Changeling maybe (depends on feats). Your DM's on crack.
In order to hit incorporeal, a weapon must count as magic (or ghost touch, obviously). IF the Tarrasque's claws count as magic, then it CAN hit incorporeal (but it gets a 50% miss chance either way).

To convince him I can't use common sense, I have to find something relevant in the rules :banghead :banghead :banghead :bangheadHe continues said argument with the fact that hitting as epic counts as supernatural and thus hits(I have no idea where he gets that. I was just hoping someone could help me convince himQ213:My DM keeps arguing that the Tarrasque can hit incorporeal due to its claws counting as epic for DR, can anyone cite a rule that disagrees.
A 213: Your DM has to provide a rule that states his point. Hitting incorporeal has nothing to with beating DR.
Your DM's on crack.

Does the monk’s ki strike (magic) only allow her to overcome damage reduction or does it make her natural attacks count as magic weapons for all effects (such as affecting incorporeal opponents)?
The PH states that ki strike affects the monk’s unarmed strikes “for the purpose of dealing damage to creatures with damage reduction,” but says nothing about any other effects. Thus, the monk’s unarmed attacks aren’t considered magic weapons for any other purpose, including affecting incorporeal foes.

I remember that thirty-headed Tarrasque. Once, I slapped Half-Shadow Dragon onto that for fun. It's only fun if you add the drow version of the shadow dragon so you do 1d2 negative energy instead of just 1, and it's a Reflex for half instead of Fort for none, and also take the Dragon Breath feat so you can do it 1d4 rounds.
Q212: I'm DMing and looking for 2 monsters. 1) an massive snake type (as in collosal or near) 2) a massive eagle. Both at least CR:15. Any ideas what I can use? Don't care if the flavour is weird, I'll just use the stats. Also, are there any issues in giving animals class levels? and is 1 class level=1CR?
Q 215a Dragon Magazine 353 introduces the Incubus. However, I was always under the impression that the succubus was interchangeable with the incubus if you wanted to play one, or have one as the NPC. I supposed, but it mostly depends on which version of the incubus version you use. The one that says it's a 6 HD 6 LA succubus/incubus from Core that deals negative levels with a kiss, or the 4 HD 4 LA incubus from Dragon Magazine that's supposedly the real thing, who does Wisdom damage with a kiss, and is thirsty for a brutal fight.Depends upon your campaign setting.Incorrect. Merchants commonly exchange trade goods without using currency. As a means of comparison, some trade goods are detailed on Table 7-3: Trade Goods.
Table 7-3: Trade Goods
Cost Item 1 cp One pound of wheat 2 cp One pound of flour, or one chicken 1 sp One pound of iron 5 sp One pound of tobacco or copper 1 gp One pound of cinnamon, or one goat 2 gp One pound of ginger or pepper, or one sheep 3 gp One pig 4 gp One square yard of linen 5 gp One pound of salt or silver 10 gp One square yard of silk, or one cow 15 gp One pound of saffron or cloves, or one ox 50 gp One pound of gold 500 gp One pound of platinum
In general, a character can sell something for half its listed price. …
Trade goods are the exception to the half-price rule. A trade good, in this sense, is a valuable good that can be easily exchanged almost as if it were cash itself. Wheat, flour, cloth, gems, jewelry, art objects, and valuable metals are trade goods, and merchants often trade in them directly without using currency (see Table 7-3: Trade Goods).

If it's Enlarged and your Reduced and your base size was small you should be able to ride it. Otherwise? Try to get an item of Expansion? That gives it two size categories. You should share Alter Self with it but that ruins the point I think.

Q: The rules for turning say: If you have twice as many levels (or more) as the undead have Hit Dice, you destroy any that you would normally turn.
How to interpret it? I mean do I destroy any undead that is half my level or less or do I need to be twice the level of the whole group combined?

Accounting for an unnumbered question, is an ability that grants immunity to effects with an alignment descriptor significantly more powerful than an ability that grants immunity to fear (ignoring the fact that immunity to fear is stupidly easy to get; I'm looking at utility gain, not opportunity cost)? I suspect it is, but what if a houserule were introduced that stripped all effects of alignment descriptors if they don't actually interact with different alignments differently? I think there are a lot of spells that arbitrarily got the Evil descriptor because the designers thought symbol of pain was evulll but not that ripping your foe's soul out through his face with energy drain was (to clarify, I don't think either necessarily is).Well, you can ignore stuff like holy word. I don't think there are any fear-based "no save, just die" spells.
Q227: What's a good heavy armor or armor material for a deflective armor character? Mithral disqualifies the feat and DR is way not worth itMithral Mountain Plate from Races of Stone. I don't want mithral. It reduces the category to medium and so the feat doesn't work. Q227: What's a good heavy armor or armor material for a deflective armor character? Mithral disqualifies the feat and DR is way not worth it
Yeah, I do know that, but those're also significantly less common than fear effects (which is why I'm not sure). It's a bit difficult to get precise balance here, but basically I'm designing a class with multiple advancement paths and I don't want people to go "Holy crap, the optimal choice is this one!" I'd like people to be able to feel like they're still getting nice things no matter which path they pick. So given a choice between fear immunity and alignment-descriptor immunity, do you think there's an obvious choice? What happened to numbering the questions? ;)People realized it was pointless because we quote the questions anyway?Accounting for an unnumbered question, is an ability that grants immunity to effects with an alignment descriptor significantly more powerful than an ability that grants immunity to fear (ignoring the fact that immunity to fear is stupidly easy to get; I'm looking at utility gain, not opportunity cost)? The Miniatures Handbook has Aspects of various gods and archfiends at relatively low CRs (around 10), so maybe look there. I'm AFB right now, so I can't check if Graz'zt is in there.

He is cr 24 but you have to give him three extra feats because of the change of the edition....
With these 3 extra feats he should be in the range you want him......

No the opposite....Alright. There's an unofficial 3.5 update for the book that I've got. They took a few of the feats from his CR 32 version on put it on here for the additional feats.
In 3.0 monsters(including outsiders) gained on feat per 4 hd,that changed in 3.5 and they gained feats like everyone else(1 feat per 3 hd)......
Even in fiendish codex it stated that the demonlords on it are slightly weaker than the same ones in Vile darkness.....
I think that if you take Grazzt from Vile darkness and give him the three feats that he needs(they could even be epic) then you would be set....
What a sad sickened summon.Summon undead or constructs?
" Any creature you call or summon with the spell is immune to the sickening effect of the cloud", so I'd say yes.
The "benefits" section is unclear - is target location for a summon a spell target? But the general description points to 'yes'thanks.

A248Oh. Well, thank you. I just need to change Warding to (Sp) (if that still doesn't work, then I'll have to resort to fiat :( ) so my custom prismatic wyrming BBEG who's a total coward that's focused on total defense can be a real dick. :D
No. on several levels:
- the Icanatrix's ability applies only to metamagic feats
- metamagic feats only apply to spells (there are feats for metamagic-type effects for SLA's, but those are separate from the metamagic feats themselves)
- Su abilities are completely different things than spells or SLA's -- just because it produces a magic-type effect (and thus, goes away in an AMF) does not make it a spell (and therefor, not subject to being effected by a metamagic feat) -- nor are they subject to meta-SLA feats.

Is there any way for a priest of Shaundakul to get his deity's prestige class without crippling himself over meeting the requirements? (they are cleraly designed toward rangers)
Yes. a priest generally has better use for feats.

Q 256 Is a scroll of Elemental Familiar [Air] worth the cost of a scroll for a flying familar who delivers touch buffs? Master is Focused Transmuter 5/ War Weaver 1, a long time until Enlarged Tapestry. I could wait until I level, add it to my spellbook as one of my choices, and spend my xp instead, I guess.....The XP probably seems like a better option. You're level 6, so a typical CR 6 encounter ought to give you 1800 xp. Either you spend a single encounter a level lower than the rest of the party (and end up netting a little xp over the rest of the party), or you don't spend any encounters a level lower (and get no harm)
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/sb/sb20030504x
500xp is stiff, and ~2.8K gp is too at this level. All of those immunities, fly 100 (perfect), familiar bonus becomes initiative, and the STR to carry hand-me-down magic items eventually are huge improvements on my fat, lazy raven.
Q 255 How can an arcane caster get a domain (specifically magic domain) without giving up any casting levels?
A 255: There's a sorcerer alternative class feature in Complete Champion/Divine/SomethingIforget that gives you a domain (and some domain spell slots, maybe?) in exchange for fewer spells known. I can't quite remember if you get the domain ability or whether the domain's spells are simply added to your spells known.

I asked the same question (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=9365.msg323519#msg323519)some time ago. No answer other than they might be falling prone. I tend to think that if the path is obstructed then you can't bullrush.

Q 265 My party of an 8th-level druid and an 8th-level Cleric needs to take down eight Spectres. All at the same time. They're going to rise out of the ground tonight and we can't run away. So, optimizers... What can we do? Are there any spells in long-forgotten sourcebooks that'll help? So far the Cleric plans to use Death Ward, but the damaging spells we've come up with (Spiritual Weapon and Call Lightning) deal so little damage that the Ward will probably expire before the Spectres do.Ghost Touch Weapon is a 3rd-level Cleric spell from Spell Compendium. Buff up, wildshape into your baddest combat form, have the cleric cast GTW on your weapons before the Spectres rise, kick ass like the CoDzillas you are. I'm not sure off-hand if GTW applies to natural weapons as well - if it does, just have the Druid wildshape intoa Dire Ape or something instead and wield a weapon.
Isn't there some AOE holy water storm spell? The name you are looking for is "Holy Storm", from SpC
Also, the druid could prepare bone talisman and help with turning.
Who has dibs on starting the next thread?Me.
A 265Like I said, he can cast GTW on his own weapon, buff up, and go to town like he would do on anyone else. Divine Power, Righteous Might, hell, Divine Favor. Seriously, that's all there is to it, after Death Ward is up, the Spectres are really just a bunch of gimps with shitty hit points, shittier AC, and shitty attacks.
I don't think Ghost Touch Weapon applies to natural attacks; he'll have to get by on Greater Magic Fang. That can apply to all of his weapons with one casting anyways. I like the vortex, too, though the "eye" isn't big enough for two people.
But is there anything the cleric can do besides Ward?

On the Druid, don't bother with Magic Fang, I'd say. Wildshape into a form with opposable thumbs (Dire Ape is the best one that comes to mind), wield a weapon, and have the Cleric cast Ghost Touch Weapon on that too.
If the spectres decide to hover out of range and wait out the duration of Death ward, then Greater Magic Fang becomes useful. Have the Druid Wildshape into a form with lots of natural attacks and the Cleric cast Blood Wind on him to make touch attacks at range.
Hello :)Sorry, dude. This one's closed. Try the other one.
I will be play a Pirate Campaign ;] 9 lvl :]
I what ask. What is Best Class and Race for Pirates?
I love Clerics for Hand to Hand Combar and Spell so something similar will be nice... Any Ideas?
