Isn't there rules for Duel specialist somewhere. You could specialize in Transmutation and conjuration picking up the Transmutation ACF for selecting spells from banned schools

You also have the Red Wizard of Thay PrC which gives you another specialization at the expense of losing another school though I think you keep any spells you knew from the new prohibited school prior to entering the PrC.

A changling focused specialist/duel specialist/Red Wizard/Incantrix is going to end up losing a lot of schools

You lose 3 from Focused, a fourth from Red Wizard and a fifth from Incantrix. So, considering you can't ban divination, then only schools you would have access to are Transmutation, Illusion and your last specialization (likely Conjuration). (This assumes you don't ban the schools which can fill your specialist slots, obviously. I figured the PHB would say you can't, but it doesn't!)

Witty sayings? Nah, not right now. Currently playing Dwarf Fortress and League of Legends. I really recommend League of Legends.

You cannot ban abjuration if you take up incantatrix.

Lose 3 from Dual Specialization
Lose 1 from Focused
Lose 1 from Red Wizard
Lose 1 from Incantrix

6 total schools lost and you can't give up Divination.  The only way this works is by doing the following
1. banning Abjuration by some method other than Incantrix
2. Either banning a specialist school (not reccommended) or specializing in Divination for Red Wizard
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

If you ban abjuration at any point, you no longer qualify for incantatrix, iirc.

You're right, which means you're stuck banning a specialist school.

I think we finally found a nearly balanced Wizard!

Nearly, because Shapechange is still an option...

If you didn't do the dual spec changeling thing you wouldn't have to ban a specialist school.

True, true.  It's just entertaining to see how many schools we can ban on the same character.

Ah, Restricted Sorcery, Dragon 327.  Bans two schools, spontaneous casting required.

Pick up magical training for spontaneous spells, and bam!  You qualify for the flaw.

So we can leave ourselves with just one school, or even just Universal?

Presumably you end up with Universal and Divination, since AFAIK, there is no way to get Divination off your list.

This raises the question of what occurs when you can't ban anything other than Divination.

You can't do whatever that requires, I suppose. No freebies.

For all those spells that Wizards inconsistently categorizes (eg, Orb spells vs. Fireball, Shield vs. Mage Armor), dispelling effects are fairly consistent members of the Abjuration school. What circumstances are these, anyway, that make it a good idea to drop Abjuration? Especially when Incantatrix will be forcing you to drop yet another school?

Wait, WHAT?

I thought Incantatrixes can't drop Abjuration.
Eh, the wizard have more money than them combined, he could in theory just use all his money on a fleet of trained attack mules, but then we aren't playing 3.5 but zergling rushing in Starcraft instead.

Yeah, but I'm pretty happy with that, since I forgot and I rather find out now then in when my char is lvl 16 :) Which more or less changes my question to 'drop incantatrix in the build or drop a school that I'd rather not'.

I dunno, there aren't any horribly great necromacy spells I want above level 3/4 usually, unless I'm raising dead things.  Incantatrix taken late means you can have up to 5th level spells in a "banned" school.
