Fighter only feats (PEACH)
« on: May 21, 2010, 12:45:41 AM »
I mean, why not?

Feats are all they have going for them, so they should get some no one else does.

Here's an example:

Not Dying Yet (Fighter Only)
Prerequisites: Diehard, Constitution 19
Benefit: A fighter may continue fighting long past the point that he was paste on the floor. A fighter with negative hitpoints may continue to act as if he was unharmed as long as he can succeed a Fortitude Save with a DC equal to the number of negative hitpoints he has; he gets half his levels in fighter as a bonus to the fortitude save, and does not add any of the bonuses to your fortitude save that you would derive from any non-fighter levels you have (i.e. bonuses from magic items)
Special: You may only take this feat as a fighter bonus feat.

So, basically useful for fighters, useless for anyone else.

(I think I made the example a little too much, but you get the gist of what I'm suggesting.)
Questions, comments, concerns, pie?
Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me.
probably over on "Off-topic".
might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post.

This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu".
Similar to Immortal fortitude from ToB but better which is worrying as that's an 8th level crusader only stance...

The wording is funny... as written, you don't get fort save increases from other levels at all, so a Fighter 12/Barbarian 8 would not get the normal fort save of a Barbarian in that situation (and thus would only have a base +8 at level 20).  Also, do Warblade levels stack for this (remember, they count as Fighter levels for feats in some ways)?  Furthermore, consider what happens if someone takes the feat that lets you base will saves on con and makes you never fail on a one.  Not saying it's wrong for a Fighter to be tough, but just consider it.

Personally, I'm more a fan of having the feats be for everyone, but letting Fighters get greater benefits out of said feats.  For example, Dodge might give +1 Dodge Bonus to AC vs one target, and an additional +1 dodge bonus for every four Fighter levels you have.

Jaronk, your idea is better.

Well, you might not exactly want the dodge bonus to scale that way(insignificant as AC is in the grand scale of not dying), but rather allow Fighters to apply that bonus against all foes, while non-Fighters get the benefit against a chosen opponent.  Likewise with focus and specialisation. Widen the point blank shot range. Let them use Manyshot with other ranged weapons.
Stuff like that, broaden it out instead of spiking it up, they got a fairly substantial amount of direct power of the ass kicking variety anyway.

What about a feat that lets a fighter use his weapon specific feats for any weapon?

I  was thinking prereqs wise

Ranged Weapon Mastery, Melee Weapon Mastery, Any feat that specifies that it must be used with a specific weapon or weapons, ie Lightning Mace or High Sword Low Axe

Benifets: When using a weapon, you may apply the benifets and effects of all feats that pertain to any weapon.

I think the wording might be off somewhat.

Fixed that for you.

More like the +1 weapon ability from that book.

They are the same, except that the Warblade's class feature is slightly better if I recall correctly.

The Warblade can spend time practicing with a weapon to change all feats that you can choose that weapon for to the weapon.  Aptitude  weapon quality allows the use of all feats that require a specific weapon to be used with that weapon.

The second can, for example, be used to apply the benefits of Ranged Weapon Mastery to a Longsword, something that's usually illegal.
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Ah, okay, yeah, it's the other way around. I've been giving Fighter remakes an improved version of the Warblade's Weapon Aptitude for so long that I got mixed up.
