Stone Power whuh?
« on: July 17, 2010, 12:37:45 AM »
You know how Stone Power allows you to take feats hat require Power Attack?

So, how does the temp. hp work with feats that alter PA damage boosts? What about class features?
[spoiler]Fighter: "I can kill a guy in one turn."
Cleric: "I can kill a guy in half a turn."
Wizard: "I can kill a guy before my turn."
Bard: "I can get three idiots to kill guys for me."

On a strange note, would anyone be put out if we had a post about people or events we can spare a thought for, or if its within their creed, a prayer for? Just a random thought, but ... hells I wouldn't have known about either Archangels daughter or Saeomons niece if I didn't happen to be on these threads.
Sounds fine to me.
probably over on "Off-topic".
might want to put a little disclaimer in the first post.

This is the Min/Max board. We should be able to figure out a way to optimize the POWER OF PRAYER(TM) that doesn't involve "Pazuzu, Pazuzu, Pazuzu".

I don't think they interact at all. It allows you to qualify as if you had the feat but it doesn't replace it, you can actually take both if so inclined.
Clerics and Druids are like the 4 and 2 in 42. Together they are the answer to the ultimate question in D&D.
Retire the character before the DM smacks you with the Table as the book will feel totally inadequate now.-Hazren

Though it is a funny thought for a leap attacker gaining 400 hp on a charge.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Tome of Battle. You only get like 10 temporary hp, though.

I dare anyone to find a hole in that logic.

Yeah, I was like WTF. Like 10 temp hp/round is going to put a dent in your foe's damage dealing capabilities.

You will need to full-stone-power to take advantage of that stone dragon tactical feat though. Being automatically able to overcome dr might make it situationally superior to PA'ing for 5.  :)

combine it with a crusader and/or that weapon enhancement that deals +2d6 but deals 1d6 back to you for extra effectiveness.

Is there any reason for the cap?  Would a Crusader getting 40hp temporary every round at lvl 20 overpowered?

40 hp makes direct damage a lot less effective, even at that point. Mooks really can't hurt you, you don't really hit any less because there's so many ways to boost attack rolls, and that soaks most hits from monsters. Sure, it may only be one or two a round, but it's enough. Especially when temp hp always stack unless it's from the same source. Getting more free hp each round than a cure critical isn't bad. It's enough to matter for most games, where any frontliner that qualified would be taking it and frequently using it, resulting in forcing a DM damage escalation. It encourages rocket-tag, basically.

Lady's Gambit combines real well with Stone Power.  You take hp damage in return for a damage and attack bonus.  Stone Power gives temp hp for attack loss.
