looking for a new game
« on: June 25, 2010, 12:23:10 PM »
okay so i am looking for a new online game to play.  the biggest problem is i am broke ( i have a child now and spending money on gaming is out for the time being).  i have played games like Gemstone IV, DDO, My hat was thrown in to WoW for a while but wasnt impressed with it , and Ultima online.
i like the customablily of Gemstone and DDO but dont like the forced group mechanics of most games anymore.  i have maybe half an hour to an hour tops to play a game at a time so i would like something i can do more with solo than needing a group to advance.  gemstone and some other muds support this style of play.  but finding a decent one is hard to do with 1000's of them to be sorted through.  so in short if anyone has a suggestion i would be welcome to it.

if spending some money is ok there is the Guildwars set of games initial cost only no monthly fees.. Also Lord of the Rings, also by Turbine the makers of DDO, is going to the same free to play model as DDO.
Clerics and Druids are like the 4 and 2 in 42. Together they are the answer to the ultimate question in D&D.

is lord of the rings online group or solo based though? if like DDO and WoW you really can only get so far before you have to group to do anything worth while its going to be a pain for me but i will look into guildwars

If you do want to solo through guild wars don't make a mesmer, I did and the prophecies campaign was stupidly hard.

LotRO is a MMO just like DDO. I'm not sure how soloable it is since i haven't played it. I personally have played Guildwars off and on for 5 or 6 years now, started only a few months after release. It is soloable but not easy to solo some parts.

If you like it let me know your character name and i'll invite you to the guild i'm in. It is a laid back guild from a gamer's forum. It may help some for finding people to join up with later. If you aren't interested in a guild, not required unless you want to do some pvp, just let me know and I'll send you some of my character names so if you ever need help you can check if i'm on.

I may have to take you up on that, apparently my old guild collapsed after I left leaving me with an empty guild hall.
