Yuan-ti Tainted One LA?

Saveage Species listed it as +1 while the table in Serpent Kingdoms lists is as +3.  

Serpent Kingdoms I believe is more recent but +3 seems a wee bit high while +1 was right on the money.

LA is completely fucked and no one who ever worked on it had any clue what they were doing.

Looking at the template in Monsters of Fearun, I wouldn't even give them a Level Adjustement or character level equivalency, I'd let someone play them from 1st level as any normal character, but withhold the psionics until appropriate levels. Say 3rd for poison and 5th for Polymorph, maybe.

If you must give them a LA, I'd say +1 is more than enough, but give them a humanoid hit die for that too.

Thank you for the replies. What makes me think/hope it may be a "typo"(but if so it stands to reason it wouldn't been added to the eratta) on the SK's table is the fact that both the Tainted One and the Broodguard have the same LA. When by fluff/lore, the broodguard is the "failed" version.

And aye, I usually go with the most recent printing.

Was Serpent Kingdoms before or after SS? SS was one of the last 3 books in 3.0, IIRC.

even if there was a more recent reprinting of either, it'd be an exact reprint, with maybe an upgrade document included in the back, like they did with Deities and Demigods. They wouldn't (likely) have revised it. The '04 LA is likely the only real revision you'll find, even though I think the SS +1 LA is closer to being reasonable.
