So a friend of mine and I have been watching a few series like Fate/Stay Night, and Class of the Titans, and really liked the idea of ancient warriors coming back through their descendants (and their bloodline taking over), being reincarnated, or being resurrected. Class of the Titans was probably the funnest one for me for the first season, if only because of Neil (Narcissus) being his selfish self.
So I'm wondering, if it worked for TV, would it work for role playing? Would it even be fun? It might be hard coming up with people to play as though, and what classes they should be, but I wouldn't think it to be anything short of just researching the character. I can even come up with a few characters you could be, even if it is ripping off of the shows. Like King Arthur, Jason of the Argonauts, Hercules, Robin Hood, Houdini, or Joan of Arc. For villains you'd be looking at people like Napoleon, Rasputin (although that's arguable from different points of view), Vlad Tepes III, Atilla the Hun, Leatherface (he counts because he's based off of Ed Gain), and Blackbeard, just to name a few.
Probably be something of a stretch to make this all come to be, but if I could find the right kind of players, and enough interest, this could work. And if someone decided to be King Arthur, I have all of his weapons already found in another book (they're all artifacts of course).
So, think it could work? It'd be done in D&D, and there'd be elements of d20 Apocalypse, but essentially everyone thinks it's medieval times, but as the story progresses, they find out that it's actually in the future, and there's ancient technology (ie what we have as of today) to be found (like a chainsaw
).
