Druid x / wizard x / arcane Heirophant / fleshwarper?
« on: March 17, 2009, 04:40:29 PM »
So I noticed fleshwarper from lords of madness lets you do some special things to your familiar. In the case of a arcane heirophant do these apply to our familiar companions? It would be awesome to have a size increase in some of the companions. Maybe this could qualify for some cheese such as super mount?  :D
Ideas, Comments?

Right now I'm playing an Artificer with a houseruled entry into Fleshwarper, with my first Homunculus counting as my Familiar, and I'm loving it.  The "size increase" is awesome, especially when it lets you use it as a mount, and it's not hard to turn the thing into a combat brute.

I don't really have much to contribute though, other than that Elemental and Maug grafts rock (four ones I'd definitely consider using each), that Undead and Illithid are also good (three winners each), Dragon grafts are mediocre (two winners), and Yuan-Ti and Construct are best left alone (one winner each).  I haven't rated Beholder, Fiendish, Plant, Deathless, or Aboleth.  Silthilar are okay but incredibly expensive; they're generally only worthwhile if your DM follows the "New Style" graft rules that limit you to five... but those rules don't work with Fleshwarper in the first place, because "New Style" grafts (anything from Eberron or Races of the Dragon) all require separate feats, and Fleshwarper technically doesn't ever grant you access to them.  "Old Style" grafts all worked off of the same feat, but had different special requirements which Fleshwarper gradually lets you bypass.  You also weren't limited to only five, or only one type, or only one in an item slot.  You can't even apply "New Style" rules to the "Old Style" grafts because many lack associated slots.  So yeah, talk to your DM and try to work something out.

Taken out of context this could have a very different meaning...  ;)

PhaedrusXY ->  :lmao

But seriously it depends on how you read the ability... Some say yes, some say no. Both have good arguments. Honestly its a DM call

Yes, I'm the 3.0 "Masters of the Wild" shifter, the awesome kind. My favorite form to take is Force Dragon. Yes, I am immortal ... My character is hands down the coolest guy in the campaign and there is nothing I could possibly want.

Now if only the Fleshwarper didn't have those stupid prereqs. Because of the prereqs for the Graft Flesh feat, you can't qualify for Fleshwarper before ECL 10.

That's the true cash crop behind the magicmarts.

I've been trying to make AH and/or Fleshwarper work with some variant of Supermount since I came up with the silly thing.  The problem is that the character himself winds up being very sub-par for most of his career.  (The dynamic of Supermount has always been that the character is the "guidance system" for the mount, but you want him to be at least somewhat capable on his own.)

In this situation your a buffer / crowd control and your pet is the big dumb fighter. Seems like it would be alot of fun. I'm supposed to be in an epic game and thought at lvl 21 this might eat some things and be fun to play. If not this wildshape druid.
