SLA: fabricate
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:53:25 AM »
reading through this ol' spell again, I though of something.  It uses material component: target of transmutation.
....
....
so a SLA of fabricate can create ANYTHING that isn't a creature of magic item, up to 10 cubic feet per level! ok, only 1 cubic foot per CL if you use a mineral, but, after all, black lotus extract is vegetable matter...  but adamantine is, so you can only make 1 cubic foot per caster level of adamatine per casting.  In whatever shape you want it to be, of course.

as for being able to use this trick, the following ideas come to mind:
phaerimm
dweomerkeeper (Su) spell
spellstiching
ignore material components (epic feat)

either way, doesn't this once again completely b0rk, well, everything?  :D

Material Component

The original material, which costs the same amount as the raw materials required to craft the item to be created

so, adamantine would be tricky.... but lotus extract should work

spell like ability, or supernatural spell = ignore components.  no material components. you make anything from literal nothing  :D

Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

Psionics doesn't use material components either; instead, it uses the fabricated material as the target of the power.

I suggest houseruling it to be so.

Psionic minor creation, however...
(And it's only level 1...)

I dare anyone to find a hole in that logic.

The Greater Dragonmark of Making can give either True Creation or Fabricate as a 1/day SLA (and Minor Creation 1/day as well).  Spending 3 feats for the trick is pretty rough, but more likely to be allowed than playing a phaerimm or something.

I'm pretty sure the errata specified that you still had to pay the XP/material costs for the Mark of Making (I'm AFB right now).

Quotes I Found Entertaining:

Huge amounts of people are fuckwits. That doesn't mean that fuckwit is a valid lifestyle.

As a general rule, murdering people and taking their stuff is pretty much superior to breaking their stuff, murdering them, then not having any stuff to take.

It did, indeed; that errata killed my first Artificer build.

Ah...that's a shame.  Kinda justified though.
