Have you considered making Turn Undead in to spells? I did.
Not quite.  In this project, I just gave each domain a separate use for the ability.

nice. I was just looking for something like this, especially for the monk.

One thing I don't like it though is the immortality thing. I know it is unlikely to be an issue (unless you are unlucky enough to have to fight a phane) but all the books make a point of making sure you don't gain immortality by straight levelling up.

Even Yoda had to die one day, despite all his enlightment.

The Dread Necromancer does gain immortality by straight level up, and I believe so does the Walker in the Waste, Elemental Savant and Green Star Adept.

And of course it's fairly easy for a spellcaster of that level to completely ignore age as a hindrance. Yoda is only level 10 or so, keep that in mind, for all his power.

They do? I have seen a lot of classes with "stops getting penalties from aging but still dies when his time is up" - I thought this was the general rule.  Oh, well. I will trust you on this one.

The classes in question grant immortality though becoming undead, undead, elemental, and construct, respectively.
Do outsiders die of old age? If not, you can add Acolyte of the Skin to that list as well, I think.

Most outsiders don't but ... there are a few mortal outsiders in the planar handbook w/ lifespans given,
previous to that I'd always considered true outsiders to be immortal. There's acutally an immortality handbook on 339.

Also... I want brain in the jar to really think about it. Elves... and more specfically elan, are "functionally immortal", how does that matter you ask.
1. There are many different dudes running around who don't die unless they fall onto a sharp stick or something, and thats actually given away for free at level 1, with your class. "Happy Birthday"
2. . . and more importantly, being immortal has no real mechanical benefit, so it may exist as a plot point at some point in a characters life, but thats okay because all the pc's are supposed to have thing like that attatched to them.

In fact, 'straight leveling up' is one of the most exhaustive means of becoming immortal. It requires a lifetime dedication to a transmogrifying and arduous discipline, great talent and opportunity to get there...unless you're a PC.
It most certainly is a plot point for those who seek to get there without locking themselves into a build. Not many level 20 anything out there(or even level 15 for the Prestige class users).
Easier by far to seek undeath or reliable transmigration.

Yeah.  If you're a PC, you can do it in as little as two months!

Yeah.  If you're a PC, you can do it in as little as two months!

Nothing but level-appropriate encounters here on out! I'd say it's worth it, given that you spend a portion of your mortal life on seeking it with pretty much a guarantee you'll survive until 20 as long as you're a full Wizard and you avoid the Tomb of Horrors.
