Telepath help
« on: March 07, 2011, 12:00:07 AM »
I am playing a Telepath and was wondering if there is ANY way to get around the immunity to mind-effects that everything seems to have.

Nope.  :banghead

Long answer, if they have Mind Blank you can use Shatter Mind Blank but that's a rare case and requires an extra action and save. Have you considered, instead of running combat by Mind Controlling your enemies, bring your old enemies as allies into combat?

I have thought of that but the biggest problem i have is that undead, constructs, vermin, ooze's, and others that i am missing i am sure are just outright immune to it. and most of my damaging powers are mind effecting for some reason.
ahh well. i am gonna try to work with my dm on adapting the nightmare spinner to the enchantment and then replace all instances of enchantment with telepathy.

That's your problem. Buy a power stone of Psychic Reformation (or pay for Psychic Chirgury, research a power, etc), and pick up a couple of powers that are useful and aren't Mind Affecting. Astral Construct is a decent one.

I did a Nightmare Spinner re-write here. Feel free to use/adapt it if you want. And yes, CantripN is right: lingering enchantment is ridiculously good. Probably too good, but I don't really feel like writing up new mechanics.

Huge amounts of people are fuckwits. That doesn't mean that fuckwit is a valid lifestyle.

As a general rule, murdering people and taking their stuff is pretty much superior to breaking their stuff, murdering them, then not having any stuff to take.

You'll see the party and only be able to respond, "Oh yeah baby."

only if you have a way to remove racial or class features. which does exist in at least one spot i can think of.

i suggest items with affects to help you, or alter your powers some.
