The attacks hammer down on the resilient sphere, as the wolf inside seems terrified of such force.

In the other direction, one of the wolves seems to disappear, and a loud Rrrrrrrr-rribit is heard.

W1 is cowering in fear of what could have happened to him, and lies down and screams loudly in common: We surrender!

As soon as he hears this, W5 decides now is the time to scram, so he casts a spell, and disappears.

Eldritch energies roil ominously around Nhilwrae in a wave of paradox as a new copy of her winks into existence. She gestures, closing a fist, while intoning barbaric words, attempting to cut off the escaping wolf's cry with pure magical force (telekinesis - DC 35 concentration check to avoid spell disruption and 43 on the grapple check).

Even as the new Nhilwrae is winking back out, the original and her attendant images turn to Teflar and say, "We needs must have a thorough answer to your question, I think. Would you please bind and muzzle the beasts, sweet brother? I wouldn't want one to slip away and warn the accursed spiders."

As much as I enjoy your sick idea of torturing these beasts, let's just ask first and see if they don't reply, like normal people do ... If that doesn't help, we can start thinking about other option. Teflar said with disgust in his voice. He turned to the wolf again. So, care to expand?

Den will go up to the cowering wolf and ready himself to pin the creature down should he move.
"Answer him!  Or I WILL kill you!"

Work on a normal Intimidate: 1d20+28=43

[ooc - we want the following: Why did they attack us, where did they come from, are there other ambushes, what other hazards are along the way, are there any shortcuts.]

Mr. Elephant attacks Dictum
Slam: AC 44 (hits), 18 Damage.
Stomp: AC 42 (hits), 14 Damage.
Stomp: AC 35 (Hits), 11 Damage.
(Super Secret attack rolls for the elephant)
http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2791635/
The wolf looks very afraid:
I do not wish to die, we attacked you because we have a deal with the druids to keep evil creatures out of the forest, we get the food from the creatures we hunt, and aid from the druids in doing that, but we are not to damage the life of the forest. Also, we are not to damage the hunters as long as they are not going over their quota of kills.
The deal is not perfect, we would like to teach the humans that we are far superior to them. But fighting against the druids would be insane.
Speaking of which, it would be clever to get out of here before they gather a new group to attack you.

Look, tell your druid friends that we don't intend to hunt or destroy their forest or anything. But if they come after us, they'll die. And that'll annoy us spending time and energy on loser druids, and when we're annoyed, we annoy back. Which will result in destroying your crappy forest and everything inside including you, your species and anything you care about. So everyone will be better off if we're left alone and I'm sure you can take care of that. Also, I'm taking over your spell, so don't resist or you can start saying your prayers right away. Teflar says, severly annoyed.

Teflar tries a Seize Concentration over the Summon Monster spell. Roll: 31

The other wolf, the casting one, is grappled by the magical force.

The wolf who talked replies: I will sure tell them, but I don't think they are much for letting a magic troll walk around freely in their forest, it usually screws with the balance of things. Not to speak of the Demon you guys are bringing with you.

It's all illusions to scare off brainless idiots like you. I suggest you do a convincing job to your pansy tree-huggers. You're a bunch of weak creatures we don't waste our resources and effort on. But if we get attacked by druids, we go all out and that means on this intire forest. Enough words has been wasted on this already. You know the consequences. Begone! Teflar went on with a threathening voice.

Those idiots are probably too single-minded to stay away from us. So let's get going, we have a mission remember. He went on as the creatures left.

Teflar has lost 11 hp, any chance of getting a vigor use on him?

Stopped by the magical force grappling him, the wolf who attempted to disappear does not do so. It is now trying to escape quickly through the underbush.

If you don't want to let it, HeadOfVecna is up next. If you want to let it get away. It does so happily. But you are still fighting a greenbound elephant.

Anyway, it is Head of Vecnas turn.

Effortlessly maintaining the crushing pressure on the one wolf (Pin check 43), Nhilwrae takes aim at the remaining talking wolf. "You be audacious to plead for mercy with lies, whilst your summoned lackey bedevils us still. Dismiss the monster this instant or the next you shall reduced to a fine dust."

(Nhilwrae uses the unaugmented version of synchronicity to ready Disintegrate)

Den uses a standard action to use Psionic Dominate on the Gelephant (automatically augmented as per psi-like abilities so that it would affect animal, fey, giant, magical beast, or monstrous humanoid, and would last 1 day instead of concentration).  DC 24 will save.

The wolf gets crushed into the underbrush, and the Elephant dissappears.

Shortly thereafter the wolf turns into a man, lying face down in the cold snow pressured by the telekinetic force.

Allright, I surrender, my only terms are you do not harm the underbrush by jostling through it. If you tell me why you are here, I might help you.

Carfully making her way out of the magical storm on hands and knees, Nhilwrae replies, "What game is this? Surely you already know that we quest to slay the dragon, fell servant of the Spider below. And no, we are not so foolish as to make noise, and draw more foemen, in your 'precious' underbrush, just for spite at your words."

The sleet storm stops. And so does the entangling underbush.

The dragon that landed on the mountaintop of hollow mountain? Something is odd about that dragon, our normal observations of those creatures don't have them nesting at this time of year, and it acts like it is nesting. Surely it is planning something odd. If you plan on going through the hollow mountain, I would be vary, the mind flayers have begun sending out their servitors again. I assume they are trying to create a new overmind to enslave the nearby villages. Going outside the mountain could be just as dangerous, this icestorm is keeping most anyone from walking on that mountain. Also, rumours have been heard of Ice Giants hunting the Elks in that area.
The man pauses to think for a short while, then continues:

Also, what is this spider below you are talking about? The closest entrance to the underdark is thousands of miles from here? Do you assume the dragon is in league with the drow? Anyway the entrance to the cave is in that direction, just follow the path for a few hours, and you should be there. It splits in about a half hour, the northern path leading to the mountain trail.

He says pointing east.

I'm in league with Teflar. It's imperative to at least move away from this area, we wouldn't want to attract unwanted attention.

Moving onward through the forest, you find the underbush seems less reluctant to let you through, and it seems you passes easier, it might just have been the loads left off your shoulders from the feeling of being watched disappearing.

After walking for about half an hour, you arrive at a Y-cross, one route heading north, and the other sort of west-ish.

The path leading west is much wider and more downtrodden, it also seems to have been in use recently.

If you search for specific trails:
Survival or Search DC 35 (because of the snow)
You find trails from a large creature, set between 12 and 16 hours ago, they start from the south, walks into the cross, and moves west by the path. You can identify the creature with a
DC54 Knowledge Dungeoneering test:

The trails are a from a Cadaver collector. (large construct thingie)

After looking at her companions for suggestions, Nhilwrae shrugs and starts down the path less traveled.
