Q 58.  A ring of sustanence removes the need for food/water, but not the desire correct? What about using the ring on, say , an animal companion/familiar? Would it still want to hunt/eat/drink anyway?

If the desire to eat/drink were still there but not satisfied wouldnt that lead to the typical sort of hunger situations that stereotypical vampires suffer regarding hunger?

Could a character actually go insane from this sort of hunger/thirst?

Need AND desire are equivalent in this case. If you never feel any hunger in the first place (which is your body's way of saying "I want food"), you don't have a desire for food beyond the mere entertainment of exercising your palate.

Most animals wearing the ring would still hunt, however.

Any particular reason? The number of animals that hunt for reasons other than to provide sustenance when hungry are relatively few.

I'd say this isn't a simple question, and it has little to nothing to do with the rules of the game, which is what most of the questions here are about.

q 59. could a ring of sustenance work for a vampire?
Depending on whether you are using Libris Mortis's optional dependency rules or not, there's no actual requirement Vampires feed.

Q. 51
Can anyone point me to the Wizard alternate class feature where you memorize your entire spellbook and prepared spells directly from your brain? I believe it was from an online supplement, and came at the cost of your Scribe Scroll feat.
It's from Dragon Magazine actually. It also costs you your familiar.

Edit: Eidetic Spellcaster in Dragon 357 on page 89. I asked this question myself in a previous Q&A.

Q 60 Any way of picking up either Combat Expertise or Imp. Disarm without spending the feat or losing a caster level? Items would be preferable. Heroics(SpC) might work, but I'm building a Cleric, so it's a bit expensive to acquire.

Put it this way. There's a sanctified mind flayer that used to constantly eat brains with that ring on, in BoED. It works just fine for pretty much everything. If it doesn't, then it was the DM's call that said no.

Hello all,

I had some questions regarding unarmed strikes and multiple attacks.

1. If I am not a Monk, can I gain additional offhand unarmed strikes with TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF?

2. If I am not a Monk and have Frostrager PrC (from Frostburn), do I get the One-Two Punch additional attack in addition to offhand attacks from TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF (with all attacks at -4: -2 from TWF and -2 from One-Two Punch)?

3. If I am a Monk, can I use Flurry of Blows to gain an additional unarmed strike in addition to offhand attacks from TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF (with all attacks at -4: -2 from TWF and -2 from Flurry of Blows)?

4. If I am a Monk and have Frostrager PrC and have TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF, can I use Flurry of Blows and One-Two Punch to gain two additional attacks in addition to the offhand attacks from TWF with all attacks taking a -6?

Thanks much!

I had some questions regarding unarmed strikes and multiple attacks.

61. If I am not a Monk, can I gain additional offhand unarmed strikes with TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF?

62. If I am not a Monk and have Frostrager PrC (from Frostburn), do I get the One-Two Punch additional attack in addition to offhand attacks from TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF (with all attacks at -4: -2 from TWF and -2 from One-Two Punch)?

63. If I am a Monk, can I use Flurry of Blows to gain an additional unarmed strike in addition to offhand attacks from TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF (with all attacks at -4: -2 from TWF and -2 from Flurry of Blows)?

64. If I am a Monk and have Frostrager PrC and have TWF, imp TWF and gtr TWF, can I use Flurry of Blows and One-Two Punch to gain two additional attacks in addition to the offhand attacks from TWF with all attacks taking a -6?
Just need to correct the numbering.

The answers to 61 and 63, are yes. For 63 though, you don't need to do FoB to get the additional unarmed strikes, from the TWF tree, but you can gain a benefit from the two combined.

Don't know much about the Frostrager, sadly.

Haste would stack. I'd take this as being the same as Rapid Shot, or Whirling Frenzy. Speed and Haste don't stack, but they tell you that straight off the crack.

Sorry, let me clarify. For 62 and 64, I'm asking if people think that One-Two Punch and FoB would stack. I agree that Haste would stack on top of these as well.

If it doesn't explicitly say it doesn't stack with Haste, it doesn't stack with Haste or anything else that doesn't stack with Haste.  If it doesn't explicitly say that it doesn't stack with Haste, it stacks with EVERYTHING.  (Note that there might be a few obscure sources I'm not aware of, and by obscure I mean old editions of Dragon obscure.)
