Apocalypse
« on: September 03, 2010, 09:55:19 AM »
1: Take Locate City, a spell with a range of ten miles per level
2: Apply Snowcasting (Frostburn) to it, making it a [Cold] spell
3: Apply Flash Frost (PHBII) to it, making it deal 2 cold damage to everything in the area

3.5: Add Fell Drain (Libris Mortis) making it deal 1 negative level to everything that takes damage from it.

4:Apply Energy Substitution (CArc) to it, making it an electric spell
5: Apply Born of the Three Thunders to it, allowing a reflex save to avoid the damage and changing the damage type
6: Apply Explosive Spell to it, forcing a second Reflex save to avoid being blasted to the edge of the area and 1d6 per ten feet traveled

Ok, so you have everything within 200 miles being pushed to the edge. Everything that has one hitdice or less become Wights somewhere between 1d4 rounds or by the next day. Going by Leadership standards. There is 10 npcs with 1 HD for every one with 2. There are 2 NPCs with 2 HD for every NPC with 3. There are 2 NPCs with 3 HD for every NPC with 4. So on, so

Pretend there were 10 million NPCs within 200 miles. That is 8,333,335.982 level one NPCs who will become Wights. 83% of people do. The rest just die. Since they dont become Wights immediatly, the Wights do no die. The corpses, however, could be pretty mangled but RAW there is nothing against that.

(3.5 rules)

Thanks to Dictuum Mortum for the idea.

EDIT: I think you could apply widen spell to this, am I correct?

Actually, to be fair, I've read it somewhere on the boards, but I don't remember who posted it.

Yeah, having a ring of zombies or wights around the city isn't very fun :P

Well I though:

The Wights killed everyone on the sides and are rushing the city. You have 10 days to prepare. You have a few guys who passed their reflex saves or were also in another dimension. Good luck.

And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? I think being flung by the explosive effect also requires Line of Effect.  If the entire game-world existed on an open field that was perfectly level, then sure, everyone's screwed.

I'm thinking that the vast majority of folks in a city would be protected by walls, buildings, and antying else blocking Line of Effect.  I could be wrong though... I gotta revisit the Locate City spell description (does it require Line of Effect?).

You want the Apocalypse?

Apocalypse from the Sky does it really well.  Minimum affected area is a sphere of 170 miles. With the proper build to Adimixture and Empower it (making it 30d6 damage) and then, say, Maximize (120+10d6 sonic), you will end the world.  (note, you can do it on somebody ele's turn with Anima Mage abuse)

Remember, that's 170 miles down as well.  You tear a massive hole in the planet's crust which will cause massive changes in the world, none of which are good.

And if the world somehow survives, you've got a world-killing moon coming your way.
I am constantly amazed by how many DM's ban Tomb of Battle.  The book doesn't even exist!

Why would you even do this? It hurts my eyes and looks like you ate your keyboard before suffering an attack of explosive diarrhea.

If using Genesis to hide your phylactry, set it at -300 degrees farenheit.  See how do-gooders fare with a liquid atmosphere.

Meh, there's nothing better than transforming a big chunk of the city into wights with a divination spell.

Yes there is.  Turning your worst enemy into a wight before he was born.

Divination, killing innocent and raising the kids as monsters.

Great...

I always wanted to make a build that had the Locate City Bomb set up as contigency on his death. You gotta go out with a bang. I wanted him to teleport to the center of the world if he got really pissed. Too bad explosive spell doesnt work on magma.

I thought they errata'ed that out of commission. At least, if you use the SpC version.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Resident Evil 5 - She's Hot But There's Too Many Of Them !!

minor detail - Leadership doesn't give exact data.
The City/town charts is more accurate.
91% Commoner 1s
~5% are 1s of whatever class and possibly race
Faster results, eh?

Who knows about various monsters running around?
