Otherwise, become a Dragonborn after Mineral Warrior. You lose the template features, but keep the stat adjustments and speed modes.

I was considering shadowcraft mage, but only 3 levels of it don't seem to give much when your arcane spells can't be silenced, and your other spells aren't much for illusions.

SCM is definitely a good idea - it really only needs a single Illusion spell known and Heighten Spell to work at full capacity. In your case, you might get Silent Image for your Bard Spells and some 4th-level figment in your SC spells known to full potential, depending on whether you also want to be able to mimic 2nd-level and lower spells. Other than that, Incantatrix is a good fallback. Level 3 gives you the free metamagic ability. Dweomerkeeper is another option, but might need some finangling to get the Magic domain.

Is there any special reason you couldn't drain temporary bonus HD?  A bard cohort with Inspire Greatness and Requiem might be what you're looking for, here.  Or are you needing something permanent for some reason?

Temporary bonus HD would work great. What level do they gain Inspire Greatness?
