Yeah, presumably boilers fueled by magical reagents/bindings and constructed of magically reinforced metal can be really small while still providing ample power.

So these things are going to be small enough to use, like the Unreal Tournament weapon? I figured a boiler would be something huge...

It will be a bit clunkier than in unreal tournament bu there is no reason you cant, also you would probably want the boiler on your belt with pipes leading up to the weapon to spread the weight.

The big idea about the system is versitility; you can use the steamcannon while fighting until you realize you need to run away whereupon you open some valves and shut off the cannon while opening the ones to the fogger whereupon you can run away.

Or you could use impellerblades to fly to your destination, then use a dynamo to convert their force to charge to use in your stormcannon to boost its attack power. Then you could be hit for a lot of damage and want to increase your AC so you flip a switch and take power away from your weaponry and put it into your shields.

I hope that helped give more scope to the ideas, one weapon is cool but a whole system of them interconnected is much more fun

Hmm... yeah, that does sound quite cool. Having something else hooked up to the same power sources would deal with the problem of excess charge building up in your weapon and permanently damaging it too. You could just divert it into your shields after the weapon is full, or whatever. Right?

Ok, started working on classes and i wanted some help with this one:
Engeneer

Prereqs:

Skills: Craft(Engeneering) 8 ranks, Knowlege (the planes) 4 ranks.

Ability to cast 3rd level spells, powers or Infusions

   Base      Fort   Ref   Will
Level   Attack Bonus   Save   Save   Save   Special               Caster Level/Manafester Level
1   +0      +0   +2   +2   Craft Reserve, Mechanical Genious+1   +1 Existing Class
                  Trade Secrets
2   +1      +0   +3   +3   Craft Device            +1 Existing Class
3   +2      +1   +3   +3                  +1 Existing Class
4   +3      +1   +4   +4   Craft Wand            +1 Existing Class
5   +3      +1   +4   +4                  +1 Existing Class
6   +4      +2   +5   +5   Craft Rod, Mechanical Genious +2   +1 Existing Class
7   +5      +2   +5   +5                  +1 Existing Class
8   +6      +2   +6   +6                  +1 Existing Class
9   +6      +3   +6   +6   Craft Staff            +1 Existing Class
10   +7      +3   +7   +7   Deus Ex Machina          +1 Existing Class

Spells per day/Spells Known/PP/Powers Known
At each level, an Engeneer gainss new spells or powers known and PP as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting or manafesting class to which she belonged bfore adding the prestige class. She does not, however gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (Improved Turning, metamagic or item creation feats and so on). If she had more than one spellcasting or manafesting class before becoming an engeneer, she must decide which class to add each level for the purpose of determining spells per day and spells known or power points and powers known.

Mechanical Genious:
An Engeneer can use his intimate knowlege of machines to aid in their efficiency, at his choice he can increase the output of one generator (Boiler, Electrospark or Winder) on his preson by 1. He may only do this to one generator a day and its effects last until he applies it to another generator.
This ability increases to 2 points at level 6, these points must be split over two generators.

Craft Reserve:
An Engeneer that already has the craft reserve class feature adds his engeneer class level to his craft reserve granting class level to determine how many xp he has to craft with at each level. If he had no access to the craft reserve class feature previously he gains no benefit.

Trade Secrets:
An engeneer knows the inner workings of many different machines and so he may use additional components equal to his Engeneer level.

Crafting Feats:
If Engeneer is increasing manafester level rather than caster level instead of gaining the feats noted in the table you gain their psyonic equivilents instead

Deus Ex Machina:
A 10th level Engeneers knowlege of the intricacies of creation changes her uttlerly, she gains the
Obviously its incomplete, needs a proper name and more class abilities but the big thing im thinking of atm is what my capstone should do.
I was thinking Either:
Massive bonus to using the machines for a couple of rounds/day. Possibly infinite power for 1 round (though you would have to be careful not to fry your stuff)
or,
Give a nice +LA template for free. I cant find any for machines really apart from Effigy or Half Golem (possibly a selection of my 3 to be announced golems).

any suggestions?

Should be second level instead of third spells/powers/infusions, imo, allows for some minor multiclassing.

If you go with adding a template, you might want give small parts of it as part of the class. If you slap on effigy (or other full construct templates), I would give living construct subtype, just doesn't feel like a class to lose livingness.

Since I'm picky about spelling, it's "engineer" and "genius". :p

Maybe engineers can assemble more complex devices without risk, or can do so faster.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
I have thought it might be able to work as a tank. The spinners will be granting movement, cut power to one set to turn right, cut power to the others to turn left, or cut all power and focus on combat.

That's awesome, totally the idea though you could conceivably carry all that around on your character if you were strong enough too... im working on an craft engineering limit to the number of components you can use however. Large things like that would be fine as you could have an awful lot of people build it but i was thinking a cap of 1 component per rank in the craft?

I don't think restrictive components should be counted, clutch/valve/etc, but that is just me.

As a completely random thought(that is so awesome it has to be mentioned), cosmology wise, wouldn't it be really fricking cool to dig deep and break into ginormous gear chambers in the roots of mountains(with the implication that tectonics and planetary rotation is geared as well)?
