Pimp my T-Ride
« on: June 20, 2008, 03:45:44 PM »
Hey guys,

In a game, we recently aquired a T-rex animal companion.

We'd like to see big T (not to be mistaken with teal'c) swallow whole some things, any ideas of spells and cheap magic items as well as feats or abilities to help him do just that.

How do i pimp my t-rex ladies and gents?

Can you retrain his feats?

As for spells: Animal Growth of course, Nature's Avatar, Greater Magic Fang, Nature's Favour, Fearsome Grapple.

I hope that helped.

Effigy ftw.
Eer, ask your DM if you can work on giving it a half-golem template. Explain to him its all about riding cyborg dinosaurs  :)

Tiers explained in 8 sentences. With examples!

5: Mundane warrior. Barbarian, Fighter, Monk.
4: Partial casters. Adapt, Hexblade, Paladin, Ranger, Spelltheif.
3: Focused casters. Bard, Beguiler, Dread Necromancer, Martial Adapts, Warmage.
2: Full casters. Favored Soul, Psion, Sorcerer, Wu Jen.

Girallon's Blessing? Those extra arms would be a great add on, I'm sure.  :P

But all dumb jokes aside, see if he'll let you add a template, like SorO_Lost said, or at least obtain one through some sort of training. Warbeast would work well with this Rex-mobile. DC 38 Handle Animal check I think? Certainly obtainable.

OUr druid has something around +24, and can gain divine insight for +39.

Attainable is an understatement.

Source for warbeast please ? :)

MM2, but I just looked on crystalkeep. It has the warbeast template updated to 3.5.

Pick up a continuous collar of umbral metamorphosis (ToM, 22,000gp) and you can hide your t-rex while traveling around town. Then when you leave town, hand the collar back to your party's skillmonkey ;)

While we're on it, you can't forget Cadillacs and Dinosaurs.

where are fearsome grapple and nature'S favor from.

Also, other freely and easily applicable templates.

I'm a level 16 wizard, so maybe i can whip up some magic to morph him into an unstoppable machine.

Also, the druid has the feat spellbond companion.

Both can be found in the Spell Compendium. Fearsome Grapple might have a slightly different name.

Find a cleric of 17th level and use Shun/Embrace to retrain. Get rid of those three Toughnesses for Improved Toughness, IUS and Improved Grapple. Now it can full-attack and gets a bonus to grapple on its Improved Grab grapple.

Or Imp. Toughness, PA and Improved Overrun or Bullrush. With bonus HD you might even get Shock Trooper :).
Get rid of Alertness for whatever you didn't take for the Toughnesses.

Get some items to boost his saves, especially Will.

Of course share BotWB. You now have unarmed strikes and three natural weapons with implicit multi-attack.

T-rex have only a bite attack.

But yeah.  Warbeast is a GREAT catch, I'll add it immediatly, improved toughness, IUS and improved grapple are definitely a go.

..... maybe jotunbrud 8-) if i can pull it off :):)  He'd be one BIG T-REX :)

Power attack is also a good thing.

So yeah, any items, really cheap ideally, to make my t-rex be a real dino-rider?

We got him a military saddle (even thought we can teleport) and a mwk full plate barding, i think we need more.

Does greater mighty wallop affect his bite?

Greater Mighty Whallop doesn't effect his bite, unless it does bludgeoning damage.
If you give him Plate Barding, you'll have to take the three armour feats. Or maybe Warbeast grants those?

If you spell-share Bite of the Werebear you get two claws as well. Unfortunately you lose the 3/2 Str bonus on its bite.
If you have IUS you might want to invest in a Monk's belt eventually. THEN cast Greater Mighty Wallop on it.

You now get:
Four Unarmed Strikes, two secondary claws and one secondary Bite (since Bite of the Werebear gives quasi-Multiattack), and then you can improved grab and next round swallow whole and hit the next poor sod.

You would have to train the T-Rex to do the unarmed strikes, though. A kung-fu T-rex looks a bit weird, but hey....

As compared to a monk KO'ing one *grins.

It's D&D gang, and thats how we roll.
"No, no, don't think, Maya." Ritsuko chided. "We will not gattai the Evas or their pilots.

Such thoughts lead inevitably to transformation sequences."
