I'm the Cheese "man", foo!
« on: April 02, 2010, 06:51:44 PM »
So yes... A few posts have pooped up recently about a ECL 26 game with a free +10 LA. Here's what I'm doing:

Race: Spellwarped Spell Weaver. (NOTE: Due to the wording of the spell weaver, its effective sorcerer level is 2+TOTAL HD. Not monster HD. So I'll be casting as a level 28 sorcerer :))

Class(es): Cleric base. Not sure what PrCs to take, so I'm looking for assistance :)

Abilities: (Rolled) 16, 16, 15, 15, 18, 15. Which is worth a 62 point buy :) Str, Dex, and Int will be the 15s, 16 Dex and Wis, 18 Cha. All 6 points from leveling will go into Cha, with racial mods of -2 Str, +6 Dex, -2 Con, +8 Int, +6 Wis & Cha.

Feats: Spell Focus (Evocation), Spell Focus (Abjuration) and Spell Penetration are all gained as bonus feats  :p

So... What PrCs should I take? Crusader + Ruby Knight Windicator?

all you need is leadership, epic leadership, and epic spellcasting. Ritual epic spells FTW.

So long a someone in the party has epic leadership it works.
1. Have followers be casters
2. Make ritual spell to boost CHA by some insane amount, the most you can  get.
3. Boost CHA of leader
4. Go to 1 with your greater number of followers.

You have Sorc 28 casting and Cleric 26 casting at ECL 26, You don't need to optimize the build just use your dual casting.

Thrallherd, Undead Leadership, Apprentice will all give cohorts, which can be useful.

Spellweaver is actually pretty mediocre as far as monsters go, given that you have to give up 10 HD and +7 LA.  Sharn and Phaerim are much more broken.

A Dwoemercheater would be a good way to go - supernatural spell is cool, even in Epic.  Supernatural Transformation is also powerful and easily abusable.

Finally, if you are wanting cheese, you should definitely be using some choice feats from "Ultimate Feats":
Spell Level Combination - use spellpoint+ system
Arcane Shaper - cast any spell you know for a mere +2 Metamagic Adjustment
Lasting Spell - for buffs that last centuries
Research trinity - might be fun ... especially for epic spells

Best,
David

P.S.  The others are right - epic spells to win
Some Cool Quotes:
Quote from: unknown
Non-PC activities like out of combat healing should be left to wands and NPCs. It's not fun to play a walking wand of CLW. Likewise, being a combat wall is not a viable PC role. A Wall of Force could do that.

-Sort of, but you left out the important note that a Wall of Force does it better.

Quote from: Runestar / skydragonknight
The most powerful character is the one that you actually get to play.

Quote from: Operation Shoestring
I often have to remind people not to underrate divination.  The ability to effectively metagame without actually metagaming beats the ability to set things on fire more times than not.

I'm not an asshole to DMs :p I'm going to stick to the spirit of the "no leadership for me" rule. Dweomerkeeper is something I avoid as being over the top borked, and I don't have Ultimate feats so I don't know anything about them.

Sharn + Phaerim aren't in the source list, right? I forget where they are... (Besides, spell weaver is great in this game, the 7 La is free, so I still have 26 HD and 28th level sorc casting + What ever I do for 16 Class levels. Which I might make into a Focused Specialist Evoker and spam Twinned Felldrain Magic Missiles all day. (6/round!)

Get the biggest bonus you can to spellcraft. Use These.
Adamantine Bolt
Conjuration
Spellcraft DC: 59
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 Round
Range: 300 ft.
Area: 10 ft emanation
Duration: Instantaneous (secondary 32 hours)
Save: Reflex: half damage
Spell Resistance: yes
To Develop: 531000 GP 11 Days
{Energy (19)} + {Conjuration (21)} + {1 round casting (18)} + {32 hour duration (6)} - {d4 damage (5)} =59

Creates a burst of [energy] that deals 10d4 damage (reflex half) and encases them is solid adamantine for 32 hours.

Adamantine Case
Conjuration
Spellcraft DC: 87
Components: V, S,
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: 0 ft.
Area: See Description
Duration: Permanent
Save: None
Spell Resistance: No
To Develop: 783,000 GP 16 Days
{Conjure (21)} * {permanent (5)} - {10 minute cast time (18)}

Encases the target in a solid block of adamantine for all eternity.
Be sure to have Epic spellcasting, Epic skill focus (spellcraft) and a + [large number] to spellcraft Item.
It you can boost the range & area of the first one.
The plus 40 spellcraft costs 1,600,000 GP.
(ab)use Wish for cash if needed.

Maybe you should take the levels as sorcerer to stack it with your Racial spellcasting for Sorc 44 casting. maybe Infinite CL goodies.

I thought spellweavers couldn't cast higher than level 6 spells, because they needed one arm per spell level?

That's only if I use the spell weaving ability to cast more than one spell.

Nice idea, but how about this:

Use all 10 LA on enhancing your mental stats, and getting abilities that stay with you when you mind switch someone
buy a rod of excellent magic. use it to have an infinite army of simulacrums of yourself. make an epic spell, have it be a ritual where ALL your sims have to contribute to the ritual, thereby reducing the spellcraft DC to 0. have the actual spell be the Origin Of Species type of spell, creating a creature with obescene physical stats, and every epic spell you can imagine as an extraordinary ability at will(yes, this IS possible). have a minion True Mind Switch the creature, then you.

You now have every epic spell you could imagine at the time of creating the creature at will as an extraordinary ability, obscene stats, et cetera.

He knows, but it doesn't mean I'll be completely evil :p

I guess I'll just head back over to the Cleric Handbook for build ideas.
