Newbie question regarding bloodlines
« on: February 16, 2010, 04:33:45 AM »
Is it possible to combine a bloodline with say, the dragonwrought kobold? If so i think i might be able to put together a 999 build with divine/arcane/vestiges :D

hmm well ill just leave this here (shrugs) im not sure if it works or not but it served its purpose for me, (killing time xD)

Using the dragonwrought loredrake kobold shtuff. The bloodline used is 'Fey' (hence the missing iron will feat req for ur-priest - and hey, fey dragons arent completely unheard of in the fantasy genre so (shrug) works for me conceptually xD)

1 Sorcerer 1(3) [Dragonwrought]
2 Sorcerer 1(3) / Bloodline 1
3 Sorcerer 1(3) / Bloodline 1 / Binder 1(2) [Extend Spell]
4 Sorcerer 2(4) / Bloodline 1 / Binder 1(2)
5 Sorcerer 2(4) / Bloodline 2 / Binder 1(3)
6 Sorcerer 2(5) / Bloodline 2 / Binder 1(7) / Anima Mage 1 [Improved Binding]
7 Sorcerer 2(6) / Bloodline 2 / Binder 1(8) / Anima Mage 2
8 Sorcerer 2(7) / Bloodline 2 / Binder 1(9) / Anima Mage 3
9 Sorcerer 2(9) / Bloodline 2 / Binder 1(10) / Anima Mage 4 [Draconic Reservoir]
10 Sorcerer 2(10) / Bloodline 2 / Binder 1(11) / Anima Mage 5
11 Sorcerer 2(10) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(13) / Anima Mage 5
12 Sorcerer 2(11) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(14) / Anima Mage 6 [Persistent Spell]
13 Sorcerer 2(12) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(15) / Anima Mage 7
14 Sorcerer 2(13) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(16) / Anima Mage 8
15 Sorcerer 2(14) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(17) / Anima Mage 9 [Ignore Special Requirements]
16 Sorcerer 2(15) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(18) / Anima Mage 10
17 Sorcerer 2(16) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(18) / Anima Mage 10 / Metaphysical Spellshaper 1
18 Sorcerer 2(17) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(18) / Anima Mage 10 / Metaphysical Spellshaper 2 [Spell Focus(Evil)][MetaMagic feat]
19 Sorcerer 2(18) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(18) / Anima Mage 10 / Metaphysical Spellshaper 3
20 Sorcerer 2(18) / Bloodline 3 / Binder 1(18) / Anima Mage 10 / Metaphysical Spellshaper 3 / Ur-Priest 1
The class progression is far from ideal or optimized, but that really wasnt my goal anyway, i was just curious if i could get 9th level arcane, divine, and vestiges rather than the typical 999 with psionics.

Aaanyway as far as specs go assuming everythings legal (cause frankly i have no clue hehe xD the joys of creating something at 1am with 20 books open...)

9th level Arcane spells
9th level Divine spells
9th level Vestiges - which provide a number of ways to fill different rolls other than a spellcaster
Caster level of 27th (i think)
Has a number of ways to use metamagic feats, from saccing ability points (which you regain almost immediately via a vestige) to saccing (temporarily) your vestige abilities.
Can gain extra 9th level spell slots by saccing vestige abilities, amongst many other goodies.
has 1 free metamagic feat of choice at 18th
And ofcourse this build doesnt use flaws, SO! thats an extra 2 metamagic feats or what not you could pick up, or other stuff that may interest you.

Anyway ive no idea if it all works or not, but if so, cool, if not, oh well xD, my first attempt at optimization, howd i do? >.>

Also, don't vestiges only go up to level 8?

Yes.

And the increased caster level from bloodlines does not add to the level of spells you can cast, spells known, etc. It only adds to caster level for determining if you beat spell resistance, how strong your spells are (how many Xd6 your Fireball does, for example), etc. I'm guessing that's why s/he thinks s/he gets 9th level Ur-Priest spells.

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

Well one of the things I've built using them is Ardents, which have their maximum power level determined solely by their manifester level. So with bloodline and other ways of boosting their ML, you can access higher level powers, unlike pretty much all other "casting" classes. Binders and Martial Adepts (Tome of Battle) also depend solely on their Effective Binder Level and Initiator Level, respectively, to determine the maximum vestiges and powers that they can access. So they too can get a big boost from "bloodline abuse". Other classes... not so much. ;)

I see ^_^ Thanks for the tips, ill play around with those and see what i can come up with hehe, binder/martial combo sounds interesting. though seeing as the two class types dont really benefit eachother im not sure if that'd work out, ill see ^.^
