Q25: What are the armor check penalties on the chahar-aina and dastana from Oriental Adventures? And do they prohibit you from using a shield at all, or one (or both) just doesn't stack with a shield? I have the book at home, but if someone has it handy and would look it up I'd appreciate it. :D
Dastana is Arms and Equipment Guide, -1 check penalty, +1 shield to AC, can only be used with leather, studded leather, chain shirt, and chainmail.
It was in OA, also, but thanks. Those stats sound more up to date. The OA version said it was an armor bonus that stacked with the one from armor, which was how shields worked in 3.0 IIRC. If this one provides a shield bonus, I should be able to enchant it as a shield, unlike the original (OA) which specifically said the enhancement bonus didn't stack with enhancement bonuses on your armor.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Okay, then I have a question for that.
Q 26 If Dastana counts as a shield bonus, does that mean you have to have a shield proficiency to use it?

It's in the light armor section, so no.

They don't/haven't, was the point. 3.5 is as dead as people not liking nice tits.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...

Okay, good. I'm using one right now and I don't have shield proficiency.

Quote from: Arms and Equipment Guide
Dastana: This pair of metal bracers can be worn in addition to some other types of armor to provide an additional armor bonus that stacks with both the foundation armor and any shield worn. You can wear dastana with padded, leather, or chain shirt armor. You need the Armor Proficiency (light) feat to wear dastana without penalty.

Oh no, I got that. Hence why I wear them, but when I read "shield to AC", I suddenly grew concerned and thought I'd missed something.

Q.27 - Is there another easy way [or any other way at all] other than Knock Spell and the Open Lock skill to open Locked Doors?

What's the door made of? You could XXXX Shape the lock. You could Minor Creation a key I think. You could Teleport/Glide/Blink through the door and unlock it from the other side.

Crumble and Disintegrate are also good door-removal alternatives.

Any ample supply of acid or sonic damage works, too.

The 5th level wizard spell sonic rumble is also good for door or wall removal as it does 1d6/2 levels sonic damage for concentration (up to 1rnd/level) duration. You could probably destroy a small building with that.

RAW, no. RAI, it probably should. For some stupid reason, Telepathy isn't listed as Mind Affecting.

By RAW, no.  But the book Mindsight came in also features a line in the fluffier section that states that Mindbenders fear undead, and one of the reasons was that their mind immunity made them impossible to detect telepathically.  So, by RAI, probably... for what that's worth.

IIRC, that line is referring to mindless undead. And note how many intelligent undead innately have telepathy. And constructs.
