Snatch Spell to double HD of undead under control?

I'm currently playing in a 26th level campaign (Sorc6/Halruaan Elder10/Incantatrix10) and one of the other guys is a Dread Necro with the demi-lich template. According to his calculations he can control somewhere between 750 and 800 HD of undead. Now, my question is if he used animate dead to raise 800 HD of undead (somehow) and I used snatch spell to take control of them, would he then be able to raise another 800 HD since the original are no longer under his control and would therefore not count towards his total HD limit?

Is this situation similar to using thread necromancy to double the number of posts in this topic?

I'm quite sure that Snatch Spell doesn't work on a Demilich, because of it's Immunity to all Supernatural Abilities...

Now what you can do is have him cast control undead and you snatch that away from him.

I'm sure you can create an epic version if needed for more HD and find a way for snatch spell to work on that.

Screw Control Undead. If these are mindless undead, Command Undead is better anyway. Get a Knowstone of that, and you can command an absolutely insane number of undead. If you're willing to dump all of your 2nd level spellslots on it, the limit is basically your caster level times the number of spell slots. And that's number of undead, irrelevant of hit dice. So they can all be great wyrm zombie dragons, if you want. Your Dread Necro can cast this, too, since it is on his spell list.
