Q: 273 I've read and re-read the Gestalt rules, and I can't find anything re. multiclassing and possible xp penalties...

When creating a Gestalt character, does each class have to be within 1 level of every other class, on BOTH sides?  (For the moment ignoring favored classes.)  Or do you look at each side of the Gestalt as a separate character progression and check for xp penalties one side at a time?

I think the latter makes since, but I'm looking for a RAW reference I can show my GM.

Thanks
A 273: The first one. Both sides count against each other.

Q: 275  Is there a race with Favored Class: Monk?  Or a feat like Extra Favored Class?

Yeah, there's a feat for the latter.  Can't remember the name off the top of my head; I've never played in a game that actually enforced multiclass xp penalties.

Does it state this anywhere?  Or is it just assumed because there isn't a clause that allows "extra" multiclassing?

It's an implict assumption of gestalt that it doesn't matter which side you put a class on at each level.

Yeah, there's a feat for the latter.  Can't remember the name off the top of my head; I've never played in a game that actually enforced multiclass xp penalties.
I used to be in a group that only enforced the multiclass xp penalties, they made them worse. ESPECIALLY if you dared to play an elf that wasn't a wizard. That was one taboo that the DM would not accept whatsoever.

Check out the feats in the Complete Scoundrel and Adventurer. A lot of those allow you to multiclass with certain classes without any xp penalties. There's a few in the Dragon Magazines as well, so look up "Feats" at Crystal Keep, and check out "Feats Aiding Multiclassed Characters". If you're a half-elf, like a human you can take any class as your favoured, as well any half-human may take "Diverse Background" at 1st level only which allows you to take any class you choose as your favored. This is from Races of Destiny.

Then we start to get into other books, such as Forgotten Realms, which your DM may not allow because they usually require you to be from some region. I know just about every DM I've had always makes it mandatory for a person to be from that spot, of they can't get them. Again, check out Crystal Keep's feats, but be sure to talk to your DM after you've picked a handful you'd like to take.

Q274: Is there a class that advances both psionics and divine casting?

psionic theurge. it's from an online article.
A 274 there's a prestige called the Sanctified Mind, which is really cool. It's in the Lords of Madness book. However, you'll want to be a melee based character for a lot of its abilities to work in your favour.

The sanctified mind is psionic or divine.

So it is. Well then. I guess I have an awesome DM who's blind because he read it as "and" too.

Q277) Anyone know any level 0-1 cleric spells with the fire, electricity, force or acid descriptors (ones that don't gain it at the time of casting like summon monster)?

There appears to be none. Anything 2nd level and higher seem to though.

Q 278

Can you stack multiple different Smite attempts on the same attack, say, Smite Evil and Smite 'foes of nature' on a Killoren Paladin?
It's all about vision and making reality conform to your vision. By dropping a fucking house on it.

Well... if you count Corrupt spells, Seething Eyebane from the BoVD. I can't think of, or find, any others.

fire has burning hands. that is it out of PHB, not sure about other sources.

Q 278

I don't believe any action is listed for them so most likely it is safe to assume free action as part of an attack, thus both would stack. But there is no hard rule that i can recall ever seeing.
Clerics and Druids are like the 4 and 2 in 42. Together they are the answer to the ultimate question in D&D.
Retire the character before the DM smacks you with the Table as the book will feel totally inadequate now.-Hazren
