I think the centaur paladin could be fun and reasonably powerful, as long as you don't expect to run into lots of situations where being large sized and having hooves will be a problem... You could keep a wand of Alter Self handy, and take a few ranks in Use Magic Device I guess...

There is a feat that lets paladins cast all of their spells as swift actions. Definitely take that. Then add on feats to boost your ability to charge, and use a lance.

Throw in Sword of the arcane order to garnish.

Ask if you can get a special rider instead of a special mount.

:P.
:lol
I once played an Int 3 barbarian named Turnip (technically Tarnep, but he was too dumb to know when people were insulting him) who carried around an insane furry gnome in his backpack named George. Every once in a while if you konked George on the head, he'd regain lucidity for a moment and become Don Giorgio the paladin and think Turnip was his mighty steed. It was such a ridiculous notion that the DM actually stacked special mount bonuses onto Turnip.

Incidentally, George was also immune to fire, yet highly flammable. Oh, and Turnip had pseudo-sorcerer levels thrown in, completely uncontrollable and purely for amusement value. It all started with "pull my finger"...

Jesus... that sounds... hilarious and utterly insane.  :lol

You're making it hard to keep my laughter subdued at work...

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Yeah, there was this one time Turnip kept magic missile'ing himself in the face... the game didn't manage to last much longer after that :lmao George actually started out as Turnip's imaginary friend ("...and I will hug him and squeeze him and call him George") that somehow grew into a character, although he pulled the ol' Snuffleupagus trick for a while, albeit a miniature version. He hid in Turnip's backpack and was used as a pillow for the most part, and at worst the party just assumed Turnip was nuts/stupid (already established) and/or had stuffed a raccoon or something in there.

So after getting knocked around in battle one day, "Don Giorgio" awoke, climbed out from his backpack to mount his mighty steed, and charged into battle. Turnip was only too happy to oblige his friend George and ran around like a kender on espresso. So imagine if you will, a large barbarian running around with a $#!t eating grin, carrying a furry gnome on his back sporting magical armor and lance (we never did bother to explain where those came from, they just did) and spouting off classic lines like "I will smite you evil doer!". After another conk on the head, Giorgio would revert and scuttle back into his backpack, making strange raccoon noises  :smirk
