The price of two poles vs the price of a ladder...

Gorramit, I explained that one.

A ladder that you buy is likely going to be a cheap cobbled together thing, not the finely machined tool of modern days.  We're talking not-very-straight wooden logs *tied* together into a crude ladder.

10-foot poles, on the other hand are specifically designed for used by adventurers, and as such are precision instruments, straight, balanced, and exactly 10-ft long.  That sort of craftsmanship costs!

Long cast spells allow you to select the targets/area after the cast time completes.
Hood - My first answer to all your build questions; past, present, and future.

Speaking of which:
Don't even need TO for this.  Any decent Hood build, especially one with Celerity, one-rounds [Azathoth, the most powerful greater deity from d20 Cthulu].
Does it bug anyone else that we've reached the point where characters who can obliterate a greater deity in one round are considered "decent?"

"Just what do you think the moon up in the sky is? Everyone sees that big, round shiny thing and thinks there must be something round up there, right? That's just silly. The truth is much more awesome than that. You can almost never see the real Moon, and its appearance is death to humans. You can only see the Moon when it's reflected in things. And the things it reflects in, like water or glass, can all be broken, right? Since the moon you see in the sky is just being reflected in the heavens, if you tear open the heavens it's easy to break it~"

Empowered spectral hand.
You lose EXTRA hp to cast this spell.  Joy.

Swimming earth elementals.
Sure, they have strength and probably aren't encumbered, but shouldn't they SINK LIKE A STONE?

It does have a purpose, though, as it makes the hand a bit more durable.  Besdes, don't you just lose temporary hp?

Unless the hand is destroyed, that is.

Wait, you mean buffing with temporary hp isn't standard procedure?

Man, I've been using that spell wrong.

It basically 'shifts' your HP around to the hand. When it's destroyed, you can heal.

Using temp hp, though, you get some real healing when the spell ends with no real damage done.  Just a little trick I like using.

For getting tons of temp hp, cast vampiric touch and Iaijutsu focus yourself while standing on one foot.

also, why are intelligent undead immune to mind affecting?
Yeah, that one bugs me, too. I like the House Rules from Dicefreaks that modify this. They have [Mindless] as a subtype there. Intelligent undead by definition don't have it (it gives you Int - ).
Using mind effects on undead is like using a virus on linux?

It's rather easy, if you want to waste the effort, since it doesn't really have any kind of protection except its scarcity? :P

Sure, they have strength and probably aren't encumbered, but shouldn't they SINK LIKE A STONE?

Depends on their bouyancy. Steel floats if distributed properly, and a Huge or bigger Earth Elemental might be able to "swim" by jumping from the bottom.

So basically they swim like videogame characters, by jumping repeatedly?
