And Bowen, my craft skills > yours.  :P

Good, we can team up and craft double the traps and explosives :P

@Archangel.Arcanis: I was going by the Weapons Locker. It has like 10 different AKs or something...
And if you're willing to swap colors, I'll gladly accept it :D (somehow blue seems fitting for a Frenchman, I don't really know why...)

@Jace: AK74 uses 5.54mm, sorry for being a detail-freak every now and then...
Which means we'll all have to swap to another weapon to match that :wall

Also, what kind off communication is/was being used on the island? Regular phonelines? Cell phones? Sattelite phones?

You guys do too much! ... And Bowen, my craft skills > yours.  :P

I think that he means is that your skill points are spread too thin. If someone else on the team can do something better (j0lt/Eddie designated early on, that he would be the Demolitions guy for example), the team doesn't really NEED another guys technically. Now I understand Skill Point distribution for flavor has it's appeal, but you are kinda hurting yourself if you don't try to at least max out one skill or thing that you REALLY excel, and something you don't have to fight over getting to use.

Guy #1 - "I wanted to hack the computer this time!"
Guy #2 - "Yes, but the hax0r is better at it than you are, why would we need you to?"

You'll have a better time if you do as well... higher ranks mean higher successes. More success can mean more fun!

:twitch whatever. I don't care. The listed ammo for the AK-47 is 7.62mm in the book. That is what they are for my campaign. If you want to argue about it, go find someone who wants to argue. I am apathetic to reality when it comes to a fictional setting and game.

EDIT: Let me put a less negative spin on that, because that sounds more aggressive that it should. Really though, I'm not trying to be rude. But I'm not a gun nut in reality. As soon as Backstabbist starts talking guns and numbers. I leave the thread. RAW is fine with me.

No, that's fine with me, really, I was just trying to explain why I mentioned it.

As for the skills, I have my important stuff maxed.

:sorry about the aggressive tone, I just didn't want to derail The Safehouse into 'just another discussion about ammo variants and whatnot. You know how those tend to spring up  :facepalm :blah

I also want to use this space to say to everyone;

Be sure to read through the Setting Notes as much as you can-- if you see a new tag see if I've added sections to already existing posts. I've added a bit about Handlers and have even supplied a video! Huzzah! I know it isn't always fun to read through GM's Settings, but there are a lot of useful bits of knowledge that you're PC would certainly know.

I think I'm going to move the Briefing to a new thread called Mission Dossier, where progressive In-Character Notes and GM supplied knowledge can be collected for easy access.

No worries Jace, sometimes the internet can be a bitch when you're trying to communicate :)

And yes, I've read the old 5-7 vs. Desert Eagle debate over on the old Modern boards on WotC :P

As for the skill thing, I think some overlap is something that's pretty much unavoidable, especially with a party this large.

Anywho, I'm of to the setting details section now :)

Say, Jace, would it be okay if my character were familiar with one or two of the operatives of Plaisir Sadique, seeing as he's french himself?

Also, would someone with some ranks in Drive or Pilot be useful, or are those skills pretty much useless in this campaign? I'm asking because I saw at least one of your NPCs was classified as 'vehicle expert'.

You will have to give me a roll it's a %20 chance that you may know one of them. That's a 1d100 result of 01-20. But that is a chance.

I need to see it on your character sheet and I need that character sheet posted. Even if it incomplete. I need to see what I'm working with here. What we've got. This goes for everyone please.

I'm the biggest procrastinator when it comes to finishing sheets, so I understand. At least grab your spot on the sheets page and link your en media res sheet.

What would I know about Dr. Noel Roux?
You're PC would know that he's amongst the top in his field, a man in his 50's and he has been with CielCorp for much of his career. He published a paper on his theories about the Photoelectric Effect a few years ago, but his work has been pretty quiet lately.
I'll swap some skillpoints around so as not to overlap with Nanshork's character too much.

Jace, about my earlier question about vehicles, any use for ranks in Drive or maybe Pilot?

And an earlier question:

Sitting in one of the rooms chairs, feet up on another one, toying with a knife blade and checking it's keen edge. The woman looks up at this sad excuse for a Corporate Liason sent to give the  briefing.

"Mr. Swift, Do we know how long ago Plaisir Sadique was sent to the island and when their last contact was?" she says wanting to be out of this meeting and away from the man quickly. "Are there any other project rumors you know of in development at the moment?"

Leaning over to Cross, she says in a low tone "Guess we don't warrant the usual Head of Corporate Security for this job's briefing."
What do I know of the IE teams listed? Would that be two seperate rolls? I assume some detailed info would likely be a 20+DC  so taking a 10 might be out for it.

Going with green then for my talking color, unless anyone has any objections, I can use a different color otherwise.

Gonna try and stay in this format until the game starts to get some practice in, hope you all don't mind it here.
Thankful for someone else finally breaking the ice with the rest of the group; "Well Doc, my name is Eliana but you may call me Dove. I have been going by that instead since I was in the Defense Forces.
I love the idea of flashback sequences. Very Lost-like, great idea Jace.

And what's the date in game when we start? Sorry if I missed it posted elsewhere. Trying to relate how old my character is to when certain recent past events listed happened.
Well Dove it is nice to meet you.  Considering our current line of work I have to wonder if your name is meant to be ironic or not. I am curious about Plaisir Sadique as well.  Depending on how cut throat they are calling me Doc could either keep me safe or make me the first one shot at.  :) Here, would you see if you have room for one of these on you? Hands dove a first aid kit from a stack of them he has. I've learned a bit from military history, and one thing is making sure everyone has a first aid kit so I know they will have what i need on them.
I have it listed that I purchased one for each member in my equipment and will ask the all to carry it.  It is the same reasoning as in Band of Brothers series. I don't have to have my bag to have supplies to patch you up and it spreads the weight out so the medic isn't carrying a hundred pounds of medical supplies.
Clerics and Druids are like the 4 and 2 in 42. Together they are the answer to the ultimate question in D&D.
Retire the character before the DM smacks you with the Table as the book will feel totally inadequate now.-Hazren

Any use for ranks in Drive or maybe Pilot?

While I'm not going to say you won't find any vehicles on this jungle covered island, I'm saying that this is a jungle covered island... so I'm not stressing vehicle chases or anything.

Also, what kind off communication is/was being used on the island? Regular phonelines? Cell phones? Satellite phones?

Probably regular digital phone lines on the island itself, but for security these would be able to make internal calls only. For off Island communication satellite phones. There is no cell tower on or near the island, so cell phone service is nonexistent.

"Mr. Swift, Do we know how long ago Plaisir Sadique was sent to the island and when their last contact was?" she says wanting to be out of this meeting and away from the man quickly. "Are there any other project rumors you know of in development at the moment?"

"CielCorp lost contact with Isle Noir about a month ago, (but it may have been slightly longer if CielCorp managed to keep it quiet for a while). They sent their dogs in to investigate a week after the blackout... the team didn't come back.

"We don't know of any other projects that are in development, but be certain we at Edison Technological Labs would be willing to pay good cash for anything extra you think we'd be interested in."

What do I know of the IE teams listed? Would that be two separate rolls? I assume some detailed info would likely be a 20+DC  so taking a 10 might be out for it.

This would be two separate rolls. Correct. Taking 10 may not give you want you want info-wise. Also correct.

A note about health, healing. yadda yadda:
When we started up The Artifact there was a bit of confusion as to what the First-Aid & Medical Kits did for you exactly, so here are both descriptions:

First Aid Kit
Available at most drugstores and camping supply stores, this kit contains enough supplies (and simple instructions for their use) to treat an injury before transporting the injured person to a medical professional. A first aid kit can be used to help a dazed, unconscious, or stunned character by making a Treat Injury check (DC 15). A first aid kit can be used only once. Skill checks made without a first aid kit incur a -4 penalty.

First aid kits don't actually heal any hit point loss though. They are a one time use item.

Medical Kit
About the size of a large tackle box, this is the sort of kit commonly carried by military medics and civilian EMTs. It contains a wide variety of medical supplies and equipment. A medical kit can be used to treat a dazed, unconscious, or stunned character, to provide long-term care, to restore hit points, to treat a diseased or poisoned character, or to stabilize a dying character (see the Treat Injury skill). Skill checks made without a medical kit incur a -4 penalty.

Treats Hit point loss, and a ton of other things. This has enough supplies for multiple uses.
