human paragon is more because of the feat and the skills and less about the bonus to charisma

also i wonder what would be the best armor i could wear...
when counting that i ignore 10% arcane spell failure and am proficient with light armor

Basic armor for my casters has always been +1 Twilight Mithral Chain Shirt paired with Mithral Chahar-Aina and Dastana.

+6 Armor bonus, +1 (or higher if you invest more into it) enhancement, 0% ASF.

Anything with a +7 or better base Armor bonus and 20% or lower ASF?

so i guess
mithral breastplate 4200gp asf 15% +5 AC  -1 armor check penalty
twilight +1 asf -10%

Twilight mithral breastplate +1// +6 AC/ -1 Armor check/ 5% asf  costs --> 8200gp

heavy mithral shield +2 AC asf 5% costs --> 1020gp

together i get
+8 AC
asf 10% (ignored thanks to class abilities)
for 9250gp

in comparison bracers of armor +8 cost 64000 gp

Yeah, and the Chain Shirt + Chahar-Aina + Dastana still comes out ahead ;)

What is the best mount in your opinion?

Since technically when i started this thread it was about getting a pit fiend mount.
Which is possible, but yet i am not sure whether this is really optimized...

Granted a pit fiend is a nasty badass but on the other hand i could get a Linnorn(Monster Manual 2) earlier
which has casting like a 17th level Cleric...

Another valuable option would be a Nightmare or his greater brother the Chauchemar
Astral projection, etherealness at will is pretty much invincibility.

any other, better idaes?

Either a Dragon or the Linnorm is what I'd go with.

If you want to get extra cheesy, the Zhentarim Skymage only talks about HD, so feel free to slap on a couple of templates :P

You know, a heavily templated dragonwrought kobold is still a dragon.   :evillaugh.

i personally like the nightmare just so you can constantly duplicate all of your items and laugh at the economy.
Clerics and Druids are like the 4 and 2 in 42. Together they are the answer to the ultimate question in D&D.
Retire the character before the DM smacks you with the Table as the book will feel totally inadequate now.-Hazren

Just slap on Half-Fiend to make it fly and some size-increasing template so you can be Small instead of Tiny (or give it that feat that lets it carry a rider of it's own size) :P

Since we're talking about Pit Fiends and Kobolds though, are there any rules about bipedal mounts?

With the right feats, kobolds can fly on their own.

well if we are just talking about templates how about adding psuedonatural and paragon. Thats how I roll when i want someone to get sick when free templates are allowed.
I actually did this to one of my friends. He was starting a game and told everyone they got a free template of their choice, i told him this was a bad idea but he insisted. I made a paragon human warlock to get the bonus to all invocations. Then i made a real character for the game. It got my point across though.

Of course all of this really depends on how much charisma i can acquire ...

Basically the best bet is the Linnorn or the Nightmare
Linnorn Despite having only 13hd can cast like a 17th level Cleric which means Miracle everyday!
(unlike Pitfiend which can "only" cast a wish once a year)
both are Cr20

if templates are free go for:
[spoiler]Giant Squid (Animal) 26 Str, 17 Dex, +6 NA, 10 tentacle attacks, 1 bite attack, swim 80', constrict, improved grab, +8 swim
Warbeast (Animal) +3 Str, +10' move
Woodling (Animal) +7 Natural Armour, 1 Slam attack
Magebred (Animal) +4 Str, +2 Dex, +2 NA, +10' move, Improved Natural Attacks
Voidmind (Animal) +4 Str, +2 Dex, +4 NA, +4 Bluff, Escape Artist and Intimidate, Improved Grab, One Tenticle attack, +4 to grapple
Half Golem [Brass, Clay, Dragonflesh, Flesh, Iron, Stained Glass, Stone] (Animal) +56 Str, -14 Dex, +52 NA, +2 Fortitude saves, Rage when damaged, 2 keen claw attacks
Anthropamorphic (Humanoid)
Katane (Humanoid) +2 Str, +2 Dex, +4 Listen, Hide, Move Silently and Spot
Ghul (Humanoid) +2 str, +4 Dex, +2 Climb and Jump, Bite Attack
Half-Satyr (Humanoid) +2 NA, +2 Perform
Half-Nymph (Humanoid) +2 Dex
Half-Rakshasa (Humanoid) +2 Dex, +4 NA, +10' movement
Half-Janni (Humanoid) +2 Str, +2 Dex, +1 NA
Draconic (Humanoid) +2 Str, +1 NA
Feral (Monsterous Humanoid)
Half-Troll (Giant) +6 Str, +2 Dex, +4 NA, Rend
Half-Ogre (Giant) +4 Str, +2 NA
Half-Scrag (Giant) +6 Str, +2 Dex, +4 NA
Half-Minotaur (Giant) +4 Str, +2 NA, Gore attack, +2 search
Half-Fey (Fey) +2 Dex, Fly speed (x2 land, good)
Spell-warped (Aberration) +4 Str, +2 Dex, +2 NA
Half-Dragon [x30, see MM and Draconomicon] (Dragon) +240 Str, +120 NA
Winged (Dragon)
Multiheaded (+2 heads, learnean) (Dragon)
Paragon (Dragon) +15 Str, +15 Dex, max Hp +12/HD, x3 speed, +24 AC, +25 hit, +20 damage, +13 special attack DCs, +10 saves, +10 skills, +2 feats (take as weapon focus (tentacle) and multi attack)
Effigy (Construct) +4 Str, -2 Dex, Con -, Int -, Wis 11, Cha 1, +2 NA, DR 3/Adamantine
(should be legal if applied in that order! The Creature has 47 Halfs but hey RolePlay-Genetics^^
it should equal more or less: 328 Str // 52 Dex // 215 Na apart from other minor goodies like keen claws, flying, multiple heads and things like search and Preform +2  :twitch

That is probably one of the most terrifying creatures ever conceived. Especially if you start thinking of its family tree.

mother-in-law would properly still say he it is a chip off the old block.  :rollseyes

ok i guess i will try to get the mini cleric dragon ;-)
which seems to be achievable and powerful enough.

if my gamemaster should go against that i take a nightmare.
he's gonna let that one go... even the drawing at the cover of the book shows a zentharim riding a nightmare

no matter the way it's a win
Pitfiend is made of win
Linnorn is made of cleric(win)
Nightmare is made of win(invincible and economy ruining)
