Mounted rogue build concept
« on: July 10, 2009, 02:27:30 PM »
This came to me a minute ago. The 1st-level Shadow Hand stance island of blades lets you and an ally treat each other as flanking if you are both adjacent to an opponent. Put a rogue with this stance on a horse and he can make charging sneak attacks.

So maybe Swordsage 1/Rogue X/Something which grants full mounted attack

My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Ah, nice find!

Maybe Rogue 3/Swordsage 1/Swashbuckler 16 or something.

Seems very fitting for the classic Goblin/Worg combo :)

Have you thought about giving the stance to the horse, instead?

I do, too. Hard to get the HD to gain the feats for it though. Probably pretty good for an animal companion, though.

Won't work. Need Martial Study first, which you can't take at 1HD since you lack an IL. Then you need Martial Stance. The horse needs 6HD minimum.

Take leadership and a swordsage/druid cohort. Have him wildshape and then pull this trick off. This also works in reverse with you being the druid/swordsage mount and having a rogue cohort.

If you take it yourself, I'd go for the synergy between dexterity, sneak attack, TWF, and the Shadow Blade feat.

Since when is makeup a valid cohort?

Now make this a Wizard/Rogue Hybrid, get a familiar large enough to serve as a mount and share the Thunderlance spell with it.
It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.
