[SWSE] Drakon, Trandoshan sith
« on: June 09, 2009, 05:06:15 PM »
Hey, a friend of mine (admiral snackbar) is planning on soon starting a sith campaign set in the time of darth bane, 1000 years prior to the movies.  I'm gonna make a trandoshan sith, named darth Drakon.

we start at level 7, 26 point buy.  Don't know about equipment yet.

core book only, nothing else excpet ships of the galaxy.

here's what i have so far, any advice?

going for a : i block everything with my use the force build, and combining this with dark rage for massive damage in melee.  (at level 7, when i'm in melee with darkrage, i hit two times at +16, doing 2d8 +14 every time)

Shouldn't you have 4 talents? I'd recommend either Redirect Shot (always fun to have) or Elusive Target, which isn't half bad either (and applies even if the shooter has Precise Shot).

I dunno if I'd recommend Weapon Specialization. I usually expect a talent to provide a bit more than 2 damage--really, some of them are so subpar it's not funny. Shii-Cho and Soresu are good investments if you expect to be Blocking or Deflecting/Redirecting many attacks, for future reference.

You know, I thought I remembered something in the errata about Sith Apprentices being given access to the Lightsaber Combat talent tree and apparently that's already true. Derp.

Just got my level 8, anyone has any input i should have for this build?

Found out dark rage prevents me from using any skill, so i can't deflect attacks when i'm in dark rage, i'm thinking of getting rid of it altogether and getting force choke instead.

Also, anyways to improve one's attack bonus?  +13 is pretty weak, IMO.

Sadly you cant take Improved Dark Rage  (noncore) :(
Technically you cant take Shii-Cho (because "Stolen Form" is in Threads of the Galaxy).

Do you use the Errata?
If not, 1 Lvl. of Scoundrel for Fools Luck is a must have.
Detto multible Force Point recovery's

You could expand the Char into an pilot (Force Pilot + Starship Maneuvers), would need one Talent and two Feats.

Update:
You dont qualify for Rapid Strike. (or was it Errata'ed?) *searching*

OK, you can use it, but at a -5 penalty... wait Lightsabers are light weapons right?

Anyways, if you can, exchange it: Powerful Charge

How do you get 2d8+10 damage?
+4 Str. +4 Lvl. +2 from what?
Or if you use the Lightsaber two-handed: +8 Str. +4 Lvl. = +12
With Powerful Charge and Two-handed: +17 to Attack, 2d8+16 Damage

Wait in SWSE two handed weapons give x2 the strenght bonus?

delightful!!!

Rapid strike is the feat that allows you to strike two times with your action, albeit at a -5 penalty to both attacks right?

The other player is already a decent pilot.  We actually do use the errata, and the stolen form thing was approved by the DM, so i'm allowed to take shii-cho.

I'm gonna go with the force technique that allows you to recover 1 force point at the end of each encounter.

Thats the fluff. you get one die [in this case an extra d8] more for an -2 penalty at the attack (light weapon? I think Lightsabers are considered light weapons for this purpose)
With Power Attack you get an flat out +4 Damage bonus for the same penalty (if you use the Lightsaber Two handed) and you allready have Power attack.
If you want to actually hit two times, you need Double Attack (lightsaber).

Yeah, sadly you can take Force Point Recovery only once, after the Errata.

Crap.... That force recovery only once thing sucks....

Yeah, I meant double strike, double strike is the feat I use.

I also have power attack.
