Q 145: What happens when a vampire who has been brought to 0 HP's (and is thus gaseous and presumably heading towards his coffin) is the target of an Inflict Light Wounds spell?  Does he gain 1d8+x hit points, and at that time his fast healing kicks in, and his need to return to his coffin is then ended?

A 145: I'm pretty sure that a gasious form can't be a target of Inflict (pick) Wounds...
A player once asked me if there was any way to make a Tarrasque more evil... 3 sessions later he was stoned with D20s as the PC led an exidus out of the path of a Dire Tarrasque of Legendary Wonder.

Actually...

Spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities affect them normally.

Also note, before the argument "you can't touch a cloud, though" arises that even mundane attacks can damage things in gaseous form (assuming you hit them really really hard).

Exactly, otherwise the DR 10/Magic would be pointless.

The question still stands:  Does his fast healing kick in once again, and thus negates his need to return to his coffin?

Q146: I know I'm gonna feel stupid for asking this in the morning. When you push someone away with a bullrush (and don't follow after), does the poor schmuck provoke attacks of opportunity? The description for the Brutal Surge ability suggests otherwise, which would mean for me that the answer would usually be yes.

A146: Note: The defender provokes attacks of opportunity if he is moved. So do you, if you move with him. The two of you do not provoke attacks of opportunity from each other, however.)

Q147: If a Swashbuckler 20 has the Martial Stance (Assassin's Stance) by taking Martial Study for a Shadow Hand maneuver, he has the +2d6 sneak attack to qualify for the Daring Outlaw feat (C. Scoundrel).  Does he gain a sneak attack progression as if having 0 effective levels of rogue (0+Swashbucker 20+2 assassin's stance = 12d6), or simply ignore that part of the feat, making the feat useless to him?

I forget the exact wording, but it specifies the total of your rogue and swashbuckler levels.  Rog 0 + Swash 20 = 20.  With Assassin's Stance up (and only then) you would have 12d6 sneak attack.

Despite that being the rules, only expect about half the DM's out there to allow it.

Nah, actually I already had made my decision.  If it came up zero I'd have said "No, he doesn't have to go back".

Seriously, though, it's more of an individual DM call, but I'm leaning towards it kicking in immediately.  That is, if it can when gaseous form is in effect...

If what can kick in?  Fast healing?  Normally FH is active when a vamp is in gaseous form.  But it's not active when it has less than 1 HP.  Vamps just have a special provision about when they hit 0 HP's, they must rest in their coffin for an hour to heal 1 HP, at which time they begin fast healing again.

At least that's my understanding of the matter.

PS - I'm the DM in this case, thus why I'm seeking for confirmation on how it works.

Q 148: Suppose a vampire gained a spell-like ability to use telekinesis at will.  Can he use it while in Gaseous Form?  Gaseous Form says you lose any supernatural abilities, but says nothing about spell-like abilities.  It also specifies you may use spells if they are Still, Silent, and you have Eschew Materials.  Spell-like abilities don't have any components... (Excluding Warlock, of course.)

I'm having trouble accessing d20srd.org, and I'm AFB for the moment, so I couldn't remember if vampires had fast healing as (su) or (ex).

Q 149: Could I use Flesh to stone, shape stone, and stone to flesh to adhoc a healing spell, a regeneration, or bainful polymorph?

Q 149: Could I use Flesh to stone, shape stone, and stone to flesh to adhoc a healing spell, a regeneration, or bainful polymorph?
A149 Because of this line "If the statue resulting from this spell is broken or damaged, the subject (if ever returned to its original state) has similar damage or deformities" in Flesh to Stone, I'd personally say yes. That seems like a rather round-about and expensive use of higher spell slots to achieve the same effect.

Edit: Not to mention, there's that save to turn back from stone they have to succeed on, as well.

Sometimes, their tits (3.5) get enhancements (houserules), but that doesn't mean people don't like nice tits.

Though sometimes, the surgeon (DM) botches them pretty bad...

I find that this particular line is not specific enough about whether that applies at all times or only if you move along with your opponent.

Well, it's the only line referring to whether you can or cannot, so my ruling would be that it is the rule that applies. If you think that its location causes it to be vague, and you don't apply this rule here, then it probably provokes, as it does not otherwise say that it doesn't provoke.
