Any suggestions on this War Weaver build?
« on: April 10, 2009, 05:58:26 AM »
Hey there.

I'm currently playing a War Weaver in the game my group has going for it. We've already reached level 12, and now the DM allows us to retrain the characters. Please note that we will get to epic levels during the game (possbily level 25), but there won't be epic spells.
I was going to play a Focused Specialist Transmuter 5/ War Weaver 5/ Paragnostic Apostle 2/ Master Specialist 3/ Archmage 5/ Epic War Weaver 5.
But now I have a different build in mind:
Focused Specialist Transmuter 5/War Weaver 5/Paragnosic Aposle 1/Rainow Servant 10/ Epic War Weaver 4.
Feats:
W1: Scribe Scroll
H: Spellcasting Prodigy
1: Arcane Manipulation
3: Extend Spell
W5: Enlarge Spell
6: Metamagic School Focus
9: Spell Focus (Transmutation)
12: G. Spell Focus (Transmutation)
RS1: Good Devotion
15: Knowledge Devotion
RS4: Law Devotion
18: Imprved Initiative
RS7: Air Devotion
21: Improved Spell Capacity
24: Improved Spell Capacity

I took the level of Paragnostic Apostle for Mind over Matter, which increases the AC bonus I gives with certain spells by 2 (so when I cast Greater Mage Armor everyone in the party has a weighless, none-penaltizing full plate). The DM approved that Rainbow Servant increases the casting ability every level, the way it's written in the text. Epic War Weaver doesn't actually exists, but I asked the DM to create the epic levels for the PrC. The forbidden schools are Necromancy, Evocation and Enchantment.
The rest of the party is made up of the following characters:
- A human Sublime Chord/Seiftblade gish-type character. He also buffs the party with marshal auras and inspire courage.
- A halfling Rogue/Whisperknife that sneaks around and throws daggers at stuff. Right now he's the best damage dealer in the group, even without sneak attack bonuses.
- A dwarf fighter-type character. He was a Dwarven Defender until now when he realized how much those levels of dwarven defender are worthless. He's going to retrain his character too. Most likely it will still stay a tank.
- A Dragonfire Adept/Sorcerer that's going to use a home-brewed PrC to advance invocations, breath weapon and spellcasting. Mainly functions as the debuffer right now.
- An NPC archer with a dash of cleric. In charge of healing using wands of CLW and a rod of bodily restoration. Also has a homebrewed feat that lets him turn his arrows into positive energy (that cures living creatures) at the cost of one turn attempt.

All books are allowed. Please tell me what you think about this build.
Thanks in advance.

No Bloodline/Legacy Champion/Uncanny Trickster abuse to get higher than 5th level spells into the Tapestry? :P
[spoiler]
A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

No, I'm pretty sure my DM won't allow it, and even if he would, it would most likely make him burst into tears eventually or something. I'm pretty content with waiting for epic levels to start casting the higher-level spells into the tapestry.
I heard there's a way to turn spells with a range of personal to touch spells, though, and I would like to look into that. Do you happen to know how it's done?

There are a couple. I think the Spellguard of Silverymoon PrC can do that.

Since when did warweaver have an epic advancement?  Nevermind, i can't read.

Why focused transmuter?  You're losing a lot of versitility for more slots, when warweaver should be saving you slots....

Then again, you don't need those three schools much.

Though keep in mind tha technically you lose access to Clerical Evocation buffs, which kinda sucks at level 21.

I need all the bonus spell slots I can get with this build, because in addition to being the buffer/battlefield control, this character is also the utility caster, since the only other spellcaster in the group is a spontaneous spellcaster with a limited amount of spells known. We can't afford to get our utility from magic items so much because we're getting a significantly smaller amount of riches than we should, because there's a great big war in-game that's sucking out all the kingdom's resources.
Anyway, the Swiftblade guy takes care of all of the important spells we need in my 3 forbidden schools, so we're able to manage somehow.
