Yeah, I just have trouble thinking I could have passed that off with any of my DM's in the past.  I was trying to think of a way of making that work, visually, in my head.  I can't picture a 4x5 shield whirling fast enough around you to give you total cover, all the time.

It just so happens to always be in the right place at the right time.
It's like magic!  :D

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.
...thanks

Of course, the problem then becomes having proficiency with the Tower shield... thats alot of feats to burn.

I just noticed a minor issue with the Animated Tower Shield;
Quote from: SRD
A character with an animated shield still takes any penalties associated with shield use, such as armor check penalty, arcane spell failure chance, and nonproficiency
. Not unhandy for, say, a cleric or druid, but arcane casters only have a 50% ASF from the shield (without special materials/enchantments).
*waves hand* This is not the sig you're looking for...

A realization I just came to in the Simple Question thread on 339....
Quote from: MiC page 169
A deployed (psychoactive) skin completely covers the wearer and all his equipment, but allows him to see, hear, and breathe normally
MDJ is a burst. Bursts require Line of Effect to affect something. Anything that blocks LoE blocks the spell from affecting things behind it. Something covering your entire body would block LoE to everything on your body.

Similiarly, AMF is an emanation. Emanations also require LoE in general. So anything that blocks LoE can block an AMF, and prevent it from affecting things behind it. Enjoy! :D

The discussion was about protecting your gear from fire/lava, and someone suggested wearing one of these over it because they cover your whole body. If it works for that, it will also block AMF/MDJ, and just about everything else...  :sparta

Well, there's the standard 'grab a large metal dome and cast shrink item on it, and wear it as a hat' thing. That works for antimagic. What you want after that, though, is a contingencied dispel magic set to target the hat whenever someone casts disjunction nearby.

See? It pulls double-duty and everything. :D

I dare anyone to find a hole in that logic.
