Technically I'm not limited, although I would like to limit it to 3, max. 4 templates...

Current thoughts are Half-Silver Dragon, Phrenic, possibly Half-Fiend...
I wouldn't go Silver. I'm sure there's a better template that offers cold immunity.
Phrenic is a definite. What sources are available?  Half-Fiend is actually viable if you have are allowed access to the Web Enhancements for Half-Fiends where you can actually pick the fiend and get different aspects because of it.

What exactly do you want the dragon to do? Half Troll, Half Far Spawn, Shadow, etc. Lots of options depending on what you want...

There's always Skeleton :p

And yes, I know that's not better.

Any reason you take a Red Dragon over a Gold one?
I assume you're limited to certain colours, due to HD and whatnot.

Red over Gold simply because I don't like the way the Gold looks.

All sources are available. Half-Silver was simply the first cold-immune template that came to mind, and the stat boosts certainly don't hurt. Anyone have any better ideas for that?

As for what I want him to do, primarily kill stuff with a crapton of powerful attacks (augmented with PA and Wraithstrike :D), backed up by a little bit of casting of itself and the buffs it receives from my Wizard :)

Ow, and before I forget, no undead templates please, I like a high Con for this guy :D

Do you have a link to that Half-Fiend web enhancement, AC?

Hmm, are there any dragons with clerical casting that can go into Walker in the Waste?

I don't think class levels will really be an option...
I'd like to just advance the Dragon HD.

As far as casting goes, the Tome Dragon is probably my best bet, but that suffers on the melee side, which will be this dragons' primary role...

Can you use dragon PrCs rather than straight dragon HD?

I'd prefer not to, since racial HD increase combat ability, casting, ability scores, SR, Breath Weapon and size...

It's an option though, I guess, if it offers something really great.

What did you have in mind? :)

Didn't really have anything in particular in mind.  Looks like the lowest entry requirements are BAB 15.  A couple need 20 ranks in stuff, and it just goes up from there.  Might just be a wee bit past what you are working with.

I blame Elminster. Okay, you can blame everything on Elminster, but still.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
Tier 1: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything and the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.
id say slap shadowcreature on it and on top of that since its a magical beast now WENDIGO
i cant imagine how that would look like...(cause of the feets^^)
but it would definatly add something to intimidate checks

your dragon is 50% faster
can blend into shadoes
has the cold subtype
fire subtype
cha on ac
(+the more obvious reason red dragon(no fire damage) +wenigo(regeneratio5/fire))

by the way does the Zhentarim skymage count all your class levels or just your Zhentarim skymage levels...

if only your prc-levels i dont really understand the "suitable mounts"
a roc? hd18????
that would require a zentharim skymage 5 with 34 charisma !

of cource you can get it that high but... its very unlikely

You could consider the air element template as well - 100 foot *perfect* flight if I remember the template correctly.

Great ideas guys, thanks :)

And yeah, this will really be a toll on my stats (36 PB), seeing as I need both Int and Cha pretty damn high...

I've tried to find a way to make Wizard casting Cha-based (no, I'm not going with a Sorcerer :P), but to no avail... :(
