Amusing grapple build
« on: February 23, 2009, 06:34:35 AM »
Half-Ogre Ex-Monk 2/Bear Totem Barbarian 2CC/Fighter 1/Drunken Master 4/X +10
With 36 PB, STR 26, DEX 15, CON 12, INT 10, WIS 9, CHA 6

Only vital ones are DEX 15 and STR 19, all others are mutable. INT and WIS should be high enough to gain full benefits from Drink Like A Demon, though.

Feats:
1: Great Fortitude
Monk 1: Improved Grapple
Monk 1: Improved Unarmed Strike
Monk 2: Combat Reflexes
3: Multigrab
Fighter 1: Dodge
6: Greater Multigrab
9: Open feat

Bear Totem Barbarian gives you Improved Grab. This opens up Multigrab and Greater Multigrab for you, meaning you can effectively hold an enemy grappled in one hand at no penalty.

Drunken Master gives you proficiency with improvised weapons, and makes them useful. Can you see what it is yet?

Step 1) Grapple foe, using Greater Multigrab to hold them and not be considered grappled.
Step 2) Use foe as an improvised weapon to attack other foes. This is hilarious enough as it is.
Step 3)
Quote from: Complete Warrior
When a drunken master rolls a natural 1 on an attack roll while using an improvised weapon, that weapon breaks apart and becomes useless.
If you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll, your enemy falls apart.

So, thoughts, comments? How can this build be improved?

HAHA lol good idea
but:

Improvised Weapons

Sometimes objects not crafted to be weapons nonetheless see use in combat. Because such objects are not designed for this use, any creature that uses one in combat is considered to be nonproficient with it and takes a -4 penalty on attack rolls made with that object. To determine the size category and appropriate damage for an improvised weapon, compare its relative size and damage potential to the weapon list to find a reasonable match. An improvised weapon scores a threat on a natural roll of 20 and deals double damage on a critical hit. An improvised thrown weapon has a range increment of 10 feet.

so you can*t do it with creatures...
corpses on the other hand might work... but thats just gross^^
(and fucking hilarious)

Hmm, what if you play a really coarse guy who treats women like objects?

In other news, this may finally be the venue by which I can realize my dream, playing a character who dual wields gnomes.

everyone knows that a dwarf is a much better weapon. Dwarf Paladins are lawful aligned!

Okay, the object/creature description is dumb, but it would work on constructs, undead, the enemy's magic items, and their castles.

Take levels in Hulking Hurler and break the planet.

"I am the Black Mage! I cast the spells that makes the peoples fall down!"

The Legend RPG, which I worked on and encourage you to read.

don't really see how constructs or undead are NOT creatures... but castles are fine

ARGH, forum is wonky when i try to give fu.  someone explain ho to use the +fu option?

This really quite funny.  To add to the Drunken man using other man as weapon gag, give him the combat focus feats that let him reassign dodge as a immediate action, and then add in Elusive target to make your enemies hit each other.

I'm assuming you have the same problem I did.  Hit "strong", put in an explaination into the blank text field, and hit the button below the text field (not the one off to the left).  To get it to display properly, go to your user settings and change your language settings to the OTHER english option.

Options from here on in:
The Klutz: Find a way (Luck feats, possibly?) to increase your chances of rolling a natural 1.
The Dwarf Tosser: Head into Hulking Hurler and throw your enemies around the room.
The Multielf Blender: Take the two-weapon fighting tree, or possibly gain more arms from any of various methods and take the multiweapon fighting tree. I'm not sure how practical this option would be, but you've got to admit a half-ogre dual-wielding elves is awesome.

Bear in mind that the ability to hold and not be considered grappled only works if your enemy is at least one size category smaller than you. What good ways are there to increase size beyond Large? Psychic Warrior gives Expansion, but the Half-Ogre's Wis penalty hurts here. Also causes problems with Drink Like A Demon. Enlarge Person doesn't work on Giants, and the Half-Ogre is the lowest ECL Large race I could find.

Make sure to wield Bards!

(that is, maybe two worthlesses makes a worthwhile?)

Hey, I resent that!  *is currently playing a less than optimized bard that is actually kinda broken for the low optimization campaign it is in*

I said less than optimized.  At level 11 I give +5/+5, and the DM thinks that's a bit much.  given that the other party members are an evocation focused sorc with poor feat choice, a healer cleric, a TWF Ranger with the spring attack chain, and a duskblade.... yeah, I'm overpowered.  I can Glitterdust and Unluck, and my saves are quite high due to a pally dip.  I just stay out of melee and buff/debuff for great effect.

i hope you got around the problem that a paladin needs to be lawful while a bard cannot be lawful!

(paladin of freedom maybe?)

yep, pally of freedom.  The DM likes my ideas, but has to constantly remind me not to optimize much since i don't want to overshadow the poor sorc, whose player is quite sensitive and blew up when i criticized his character in an older game.

If a character is stunned or paralyzed would they fall under objects, by the most vague stretch of RAW?
"No, no, don't think, Maya." Ritsuko chided. "We will not gattai the Evas or their pilots.

Such thoughts lead inevitably to transformation sequences."

Or petrified?

I can't stand people who get pissy when you tell them they need to get better. It's not like you're telling them that they suck and that you hate them. I learned to get good at DnD the hard way, and now I make characters strong enough to do all the stupid shit that got my shitty characters killed in the first place!
