If you can get Eschew Materials and Surrogate Spellcasting (PHB and Savage Species), assuming you're a caster, you could abuse Horseshoes of Flame from Savage Species for a +10 unnamed to Int (and +2 Dex and +6 Cha)...

But then again, so could the other guy :P

He doesn't know what Savage Speicies is anyways, neither does he know what optimising means (I think)

Looks silly, though...

Any suggestions?
Are homebrewed templates okay? I seem to remember a template on gitp that gave +10 Int for +4 LA, plus some (read: a lot of) other goodies.

I'll have to accept them first :P

Erinye- used as basis to expand on the Norse myth of Brynhylde the fallen valkyrie.

Does "Bryn - hylde" translate as Broom Hilda ??

Yeah, between the CPsi stuff, and the Wizards.com SS web expansion, that gives progressions,
you can ~kinda assume that following some of the levels of a Race progression, but skipping out early, works.
3HD +2LA of any race class, makes you a bad Fighter, a bad Skill Monkey, or a Bad Caster.
So the concept has to go somewhere else.
That's obviously a gimpy way to do things, so it's certainly not broken, and might be playable anyway.

Succubi 1 gets great CHA.
Air Elemental 1 gets 100' fly.
etc ...
Now those are a little shaky.

Problem though is that once you start a racial progression you need to finish it completely before you can pick up class levels...

Luckily gestalt rules make this kind of a moot point :)

Check out the Paramind, then. The Int to ECL ratio is probably the highest you'll find. Stack on some other templates (Paragon?), take a high-Int race, and you should be good.

Well, Paragon would be +15 ECL IIRC if you compare the normal Mind Flayer to the Paragon Mind Flayer example, so that's a +15 over 15 levels (but a +15 on all other stats as well and other great abilities :)).
Thrown on Phrenic (+17 LA total for +17) and play a (Lesser) Tiefling and you're at a +19 Int over 17-18 LA...

Say, doesn't Beguiler grant even more Int than Tiefling? You might hit +19 Int then...
With aging you can get that up to a +22 Int total :P

Hmm... Paragon Mind Flayer will have 23 Int over 23 levels...

Lesser Phrenic Paragon Half-Dragon Tiefling will have 21 over 20 levels...

Paramind Paragon Mind Flayer will have +33 Int over 27 levels...

Hmm... Maybe I'll start with Paramind Mind Flayer or Human (Mind Flayer sounds cool), and add Paragon later...

Or just be a Paragon Lesser Tiefling

It'll be well into epic if you go with the Paragon Mind Flayer though, remember that ;)

But I think it's your best bet if you want to beat the Ethergaunt (even though that's probably still the better choice ;))

Good luck :D

Paramind Paragon Mind Flayer will have +33 Int over 27 levels...
Personally, I'd slap Paramind onto a true dragon, what with tripled aging bonuses.

Dragons of Eberron?

Also, I think I'll have to give the Totemist//Champion a boost... Any ideas?

OUCH! They are AWESOME!

I'll just have to find a way to make it possible to play :D

I am thinking a Loredrake Paramind Tome Dragon//Wizard 5/Incantatrix 4/Initiate of the Sevenfold Veil 7/Something (maybe more Incantatrix, or Abjurant Champion) 4

Wait, they are worse than AWESOME!, they are SICK!!!

they does automatically know all Divination and CONJURATION spells on the SORCERER list!

:bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce :bounce

I'll really have to boost the Champion//Totemist, though...

Any ideas?

Mage of the Arcane Order for those last 4 levels, perhaps?

Knew you'd like it :D

As for the Totemist...
Stuff to boost his Strength, Constitution and AC is always nice (Feral (Savage Species), Mineral Warrior (Underdark), Lolth-Touched (MM4)), but stuff to improve his defenses against traditional Melee weaknesses would also be nice...

Phrenic (XPH) helps with PR/SR, some fun PLA's and improved mental stats, Winged (Savage Species, can't combine with Mineral Warrior if you want to get the fly speed) would give a nice fly speed for added mobility and a decent boost to Dex and Wis.

Those are just some basic things, but I don't think he'll ever be able to compare to the likes of an Ethergaunt or a Tome Dragon...

I am maybe thinking of gradually giving him the Paragon template over 15-20 levels, in addition to spend a chunk of my Incantatrix resources on making all day buffs...

I think I'll get something like 52 Int at level 20, without using level 4, 8 and the other boosts (which I think I'll remove for dragons), and excluding tomes and headbands of Int...

which means I can persist something like 48 spells per day :P

It's over half that I can cast (I think) :D ...

The Tome Dragons casting stat will be changed to Int, though, since it makes sense...

Also, is there any PrCs that advances casting that is accesible really early?

Since that would mean that I now have to use Loredrake (since it isn't that useful at levels past 6 since in my games, you can't get higher CL (or cast higher levels of spells) than your HD (but you can use PrCs that advances casting, only that you do only get their CL benefit after you gain enough HD)

Lessee... From Wyrmling (16) to Great Wyrm (34), Tome Dragons get a total of +16 Int. Witht he tripling from Paramind, this becomes +54. Cool.

But I can't be a GW until level 36 anyways...

I think I'll change my progression to (since I gain all those Conj and Div spells known, Wizard isn't worth it):
Tome Dragon (until level 36)//Paramind 4/Either Factotum 2 or something that advances CL 1, and probably Factotum 1 (if I can find something that advances CL I won't be a Loredrake, but otherwise I would)/Incantatrix 3/IoSV 7/something 4

Wait....

The template "Riddled" gives +6 Int and +0 CR...

Will probably give it a +1 LA, though...
