Factotum 8 would be awesome for even more spells per round :D

Be sure to look into psychosises as well. Not sure what dragon issue they're from offhand, but there's one that gives +4 Int and makes your sorcerer casting Int-based IIRC.
It's all about vision and making reality conform to your vision. By dropping a fucking house on it.

I know, but the Ethergaunt is going to be a Factotum, so I won't go too heavily into the class...
Max (and I think I'll maybe do that) 3 levels for BoB...

Also, I can't fit it into the build...

Be sure to look into psychosises as well. Not sure what dragon issue they're from offhand, but there's one that gives +4 Int and makes your sorcerer casting Int-based IIRC.

Riddled does too, but with a +6 Int...

Spellhoarding gives +2, but is too negative, and I din't really get it...

But there is many templates for Dragons that gives + to int :D

What do you think of giving Paragon to the Totemist BTW? And over how many levels in that case?

Then that's probably it. Cool, even better Int than I remembered.

Do you think I should give the Paragon template gradually to the Totemist//Champion to make him feel useful?

Well, since your character is going to have it as well, and that's a full caster, I don't think it would further unbalance the game...

I am not going to have it...

and this is without sacrificing anything (like class levels), but then, how many levels should it be over?

I think I'll do it over 20 levels, just have to make a progression

Assuming he's not that familiar with optimization as you or me, I think it should be doable.

If he's knowledgeable about optimization, he might be able to abuse some aspect of it, although I doubt it (that is, I'd rather take a Wizard 20 over a Paragon Melee Class 20)...

He is probably going to say something like "what are you talking about" (in norwegian, of course) if I ask if he thinks his character is optimised enough, so I son't think that'll be a problem...

To throw a different idea out there, if you play a Beholder you can get access to the Beholder Mage class from Lords of Madness. Now Beholders only have +6 Int, but the Beholder Mage class  has this about it: Free action casting. With no clause that says "This only applies if the original casting time was a standard action or less."

That's right, you can cast any spell as a free action, no matter what the original casting time was. Mark of Justice as an offensive technique, anyone? Set the activating condition to "attacks a living creature" or even "takes a breath" and you have a no-save Bestow Curse.

The beholder mage is hilariously ridiculously awesome. I personally sort of like the Overseer beholderkin (LoM); they can't fly but they are like a huge evil beholder tree that can dominate other beholders and has eye rays of minor creation and stuff. Just get some underlings who can cart you around, or cast overland flight if you want to be boring.

Not really the optimal choice, but a pretty fun one.

Not any because of from your own quote: "This only applies if the original casting time was a standard action or less."

Also, I am thinking of not doing anything with the Totemist, except for increasing it's stats, and instead of me and the ethergaunt player playing gestalt, we get 8 gestalt levels, and the rest is normal (so I can get Paramind and Incantatrix (no IoSV, though :( ), and he can get ScM and BoB from Factotum...

Yes any. If you notice, i said that there was no passage saying it only applies if the original casting time was a standard action or less. It's not in there. A Beholder Mage can cast literally any spell as a free action, no matter what its original casting time was.

It's good for going into Fiend of Possession. I don't think it's that great, otherwise. Definitely nothing compared to Ethergaunts, lol.

A couple of water benders, a dike, a flaming arrow, and a few barrels of blasting jelly?

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

well, you gotta remember that you can tack on a whole lotta templates before reaching the level displacement of the ethergaunt....  and you really shouldn't underestimate the differance in having a face that makes people follow you slavishly to one that makes em run in horror.
I do not suffer from paranoia; I enjoy every second of it.
