The Airship.
« on: February 16, 2009, 07:33:27 PM »
I demand that a collaborative effort for designing the airship begin immediately. Whoever has the Landlord feat is allowed to participate in the discussion and add things to the ship. Our immediate issue: How much airship do we want?

Brainstorm, guys, we need to build this thing!

A list of all enhancements made to the Airship:

Dungeon Master's Guide:
-Bottle of Air (7 250 gp)
This item appears to be a normal glass bottle with a cork. When taken to any airless environment it retains air within it at all times, continually renewing its contents. This means that a character can draw air out of the bottle to breathe. The bottle can even be shared by multiple characters who pass it around. Breathing out of the bottle is a standard action, but a character so doing can then act for as long as she can hold her breath.
-Decanter of Endless Water (9 000 gp)
If the stopper is removed from this ordinary-looking flask and a command word spoken, an amount of fresh or salt water pours out. Separate command words determine the type as well as the volume and velocity.

"Stream" pours out 1 gallon per round.
"Fountain" produces a 5-foot-long stream at 5 gallons per round.
"Geyser" produces a 20-foot-long, 1-foot-wide stream at 30 gallons per round.
The geyser effect causes considerable back pressure, requiring the holder to make a DC 12 Strength check to avoid being knocked down. The force of the geyser deals 1d4 points of damage but can only affect one target per round. The command word must be spoken to stop it.
Eberron Campaign Setting:
-Bound Earth Elemental (for landbound and underground travel)(CL15 + Greater Planar Binding)(1 200 gp)
-Bound Water Elemental (for aquatic travel)(CL15 + Greater Planar Binding)(1 200 gp)
-Bound Storm Elemental (to power Lightning Turbine)(CL15 + Greater Planar Binding)(1 200 gp)

Spell turrets seem like a natural inclusion. Magic traps to prevent people from stealing the airship while we have better things to do than guard it, perhaps.

Obviously :)
Does anyone have Leadership for a 'helmsman'?
Also, which of you guys had the Landlord feat as well? I know I do, but what about the rest of you guys?

Leadership  :D With an half-elf artificer/bard. I can make her from House Lysander in Eberron, so she'd be a cinch as helmsman.

And take Improved Cohort and have your cohort take Landlord.

If you can spare 2 feats and you don't have a level adjustment, we'll have like 5 people paying into the leadership pool.

Nice. I vote we name it Deathclock or Oblivion Folder.

Sounds good.
Making the ship fire-proof might be a good idea, as well. ;)

That's why we use a Fire Elemental for propulsion :P

I believe it grants either immunity or resistance 30 to the ship...

Hmm... Can we make it hellfire-proof somehow? Just in case we run into fire-resistant enemies aboard the 'ship and I need to break out the non-brimstone blast.

Mmh, I don't think so...
Anyway to give an (air)ship a natural healing/repairing ability?

Then again, your hellfire would be targeted agains a single enemy, not an entire area, right? As in, it wouldn't involve the same charring of the deck a normal AoE like Fireball would have, right?

True. I might be picking up the Cone shape eventually, though.

Yeah, let's keep that at a 2D level and not 3D, shall we? :P

I believe that ceased to be a feasible option the moment I picked up a fly speed. :P
Or that we decided to have an airship, for that matter.

So, who's up for some Landlord and Artificer craft cost reduction abuse? :P

Yeah, you did.

Maybe I could worship an elder evil too and DCFS those feats into Landlord and whatever. But that'd be too much work for my lazy self.

Or just take a magical location and retrain the bonus feat to Landlord :D

Would work with DCFS, but I dunno if retraining would allow that. You can only make changes that would've been legal in the first place, which getting Landlord off, say, Othyug Hole for 3k isn't, I'm pretty sure.
