Problem is, I'll only ever have 4 levels of Wizard, which means the familiar is going to be the valedictorian of suckland.  I figure I'll just take the 3hp and ignore the familiar from then on in.  (if I really have to, I'll just have it follow along with the wagon/in my backpack)
+2 fort is better than 3 hp past first level or so.

Mirror Image is better than Invisibility.
Except for, y'know, they can see you. Not much use for surprise attacks.

Exactly!  :smirk
Last time I had a similar build, I used invisibility to get in close to deliver the glass cannon shot.
This time, I'm hoping my cannon's at least made of plexiglass!  :p

Kinda moot, that point. If you know it's time to cast Invisibility, you know it's time to cast Mirror Image.

For a familiar, IF you can get the Dragon option of a Hummingbird for +4 initiative, that one rocks. Especially with the Elf racial sub lvl for Wizard.

Here's the thing. Mirror Image may be better than Invisibility in combat because it stays after you attack once. However, there is still a chance you'll get hit, there are AoE things, et cetera. With Invisibility, you cannot be seen without magic and the like. Stealth missions, for example, get much harder if you're trying to substitute invisibility with Mirror Image.

BTW, here's the online character sheet:

It doesn't even matter. You get all the good familiar benefits really early, anyway, and it's hit points and BAB are always based on yours, not your wizard level.

Sounds like the makings of a gay porn film.

In stealth missions (which are rare, in my experience at least), you're still screwed by Listen checks. And you'll have to very fast, since it only lasts 1 min/lvl.

Of course, for the price of a 2nd lvl scroll, this discussion is trivial.

Which version of mirrior is actually mirror image + invisibilty.

Also, improved mirror image (or superior or whatever it is) > mirror image.

Sunic may be more abrasive than sandpaper coated in chainsaws (not that its a bad thing, he really does know what he's talking about), but just posting in this thread without warning and telling him he's an asshole which, if you knew his past experiences on WotC and Paizo is flat-out uncalled for. Never mind the insults (which are clearly 4Chan-level childish). You say people like Sunic are the bane of the internet? Try looking at your own post and telling me you are better than him.

Here's a fun fact: You aren't. By a few leagues.

Er, unless you swap the familiar for something else, then gain a new familiar with the Attain Familiar feat.
My work
The tier system in a nutshell:
[spoiler]Tier 6: A cartographer.
Tier 5: An expert cartographer or a decent marksman.
Tier 4: An expert marksman.
Tier 3: An expert marksman, cartographer and chef who can tie strong knots and is trained in hostage negotiation or a marksman so good he can shoot down every bullet fired by a minigun while armed with a rusted single-shot pistol that veers to the left.
Tier 2: Someone with teleportation, mind control, time manipulation, intangibility, the ability to turn into an exact duplicate of anything, or the ability to see into the future with perfect accuracy.

Imp.Init is at level 4.   :D
I need to learn how to read.  Or at least wait to post until I get more sleep! :p

Yeah, ever since the PHB2 came out, I've had a hard time not taking Abrupt Jaunt.  I remember a lot of the Completes on the OP's allowed list, but I don't remember about the PHB2.
