If you got the Time Domain from SPC, there's some neat spells for Spell Mantle.

The domain has amazing spells, but which ones do you think would benefit from being mantled the most?

What do you guys think about Assay Spell Resistance?

Well, it pretty much guarantees you'll beat their resistance unless it's abnormally high, but it's only effective against one creature per casting. I doubt you'll run into so many creatures that have spell resistance that this would be a very good choice.

but it's only effective for 1 round.  Also at high levels you will run into multiple things with spell resistance.

ASR lasts 1 round/level. Take a good hard look at how many offensive spells you're going to use - the answer is probably not too many, since buffs tend to be more efficient. If that's the case, just prepare 0, 1 or 2 ASRs. If you want to use lots of SoDs then it can be a good mantle choice.

If you care about making skill checks on short notice, I'd recommend Guidance of the Avatar.  +20 competence to a single skill check.  Enough to pretty much guarantee you'll bluff that NPC, know about the monster's weakness, use that magic device, do the impossible, see the invisible, row row fight the power...

er, where was I going with that?

Oh, right.  Skills are useful.  Guidance of the avatar is only second level, and therefore broken.
