Cloistered Cleric...don't give up your Knowledge!!!

Was just looking at making a Cloistered cleric and was going to give up Knowledge Domain for the Devotion and noticed that it would leave me with only TWO class skills, Decipher Script and Speak language.  Only other skills they get are Knowledges and all them are gotten through the domain!

No Concentration, no Spellcraft, no crafts or professions as per standard cleric.

Guess, I'll have to buy Knowledge Devotion the old fashioned way.

The variants listed in Unearthed Arcana are either A) In addition to the normal class or B) in replacement of a certain class feature. It specifically mentions what you give up in that class. Cloistered Clerics do NOT give up any class skills. They gain those two additional class skills and the Knowledge Domain. Feel free to give it up for Knowledge Devotion. You'll still have the standard cleric class skills.

Aside from dips, how would you do that? There's about 5 that matter for that, and Devotion only gives 1 back.

Religion and planes are already cleric class skills.  Add in devotion and you get 3/5.  Can't be that hard to pick up two more knowledgeds.  Hell, just cross class it.  Clerics get fucking LORE OF THE GODS to fuel K. Dev.

Arcana is also cleric class skill. You only need Dungeoneering and Nature.

AJ&Uber got it right, Arcana, History, Religion, and Planes are all cleric base, that's 3 out of 5 that are worthwhile and Devotion grants you another 1. That's 4/5. Cross-class or dip with Able learner are both viable options.

Also, how are you running in circles? Wouldn't multiple tails confuse you on which way to run?

The Educated feat gives all Knowledge skills as class skills IIRC
You just gotta ask yourself if 1 skill is worth a feat.

Go with Nature unless you're in an FR Underdark campaign (in which case you go Dungeoneering).  Also, remember that while Knowledge (local) might only affect Humanoids, Humanoids are arguably the most dangerous enemies your DM can throw at you.

Depends. Humanoid casters yes. Anything else is free experience and dragon horde quality treasure.

The animal and plant domains get you knowledge (nature) so you could use knowledge devotion for knowledge (dungeoneering) if you had one of those domains

Both of which are, frankly, terrible domains otherwise.  Aside from Entangle, Summon Nature's Ally IV and Shapechage, there's barely a good spell between them.
