So, part of the archetypal artificer image that I have is a Dedicated Wright crafting away in an extraplanar laboratory, as the Artificer goes adventuring.
The Goals for the Laboratory-In-A-Can:
o) Portability I (i.e., accessible from the road)
o) Portability II (i.e., can be carried - a muledrawn wagon isn't going to cut it)
o) Size (Large enough for the Lab & a Small Tiny Living Construct who doesn't need to breathe)
o) Extraplanar (So you can have the lab exist on a time-speeds-up plane and your Wright can work faster)
I'm curious how to build that lab, and how early the artificer can get it.
Here are the methods I've found (by level available)
Lv. 7: Secret Chest.
[spoiler]
Leomund's Secret Chest (S/W 5) seems like a good idea (possibly combined with a Permanency'd Polymorph on the Wright to shrink it, and a Shrink Item or three on the lab. (Permanency, Polymorph, Secret Chest - all available @ Artificer 7)

lv. 8: Portable Hole
[spoiler]
The Portable Hole seems like a better idea (ideally, a Portable Hole that doesn't exist in extraplanar space, but instead exists in that Time-Speeds-Up plane). It requires Plane Shift (Clr 5 - Artificer Lv 7), so it should become available at the same time as Secret Chest. (My Logic is that The item says CL 12th, which I think is based on the S/W version of the spell (which is a 7th lv spell, avail @ lv 11), plus one level for no good reason. Hence, lv. 8).

Lv. 15: Ring Gates
[spoiler]
Requires Gate Spell (S/W 9). PhaedrusXY's suggestion calls for a modified, lower level version.

What other options are there for this set-up? Has anyone pulled this off?
