Recap & Map
You explored almost all of the underground dungeon complex, leaving only the wing that leads to the river.

You found a fair amount of wealth, lots of encounters (and experience), and discovered a map, left by someone...
(3 gems, 30 gold, 1 art piece, another potion, a Lightning Hammer, and a Duelist's Dagger)
As you sit on the grimy stone floor, examining the dagger you just found, you also notice Meepo furiously scribbling into his little book.
It appears as though he is writing as fast as he can.

"Those work much better if you follow the numbers, rather than scribble over the dots," Darius says to Meepo with an eyeroll, as he finishes strapping the hexer's rod to the inside of his vest.  He then turns to the party:

"We should get going.  We don't know how much time Almark has before the death-squads start marching in.  Let's investigate where that river-tunnel leads."

Carric sheaths the new blade and stands.

"Indeed. Given the number in...", he pauses and gestures to the rubble, "there, at least they shouldn't have issues with goblins in the future..."

Meepo looks up at Carric when he points and says, How many do you think were in there?  Was it a hundred?

"More than I'd wanna fight in one sitting, at any rate. I'm still curious about what Jaedrus used this tunnel for, and the only place left to explore is the tunnel by the river. Maybe we'll get some answers when we find out where it goes."

Carric looks at Meepo with a confused look, "A hundred? No.. not quite that many. Around twenty-five, I think. But I did notice that they looked a bit stronger than the ones we've seen, and there were some hobgoblins as well."

Turning to the others, "Given the company Jaedrus kept, we should be cautious while exploring the river tunnels."
Whee, river!
As you walk toward the river, you hear a short, shrill scream come from Garin's "residence".  You quickly glance and see that Meepo is still with you.
Check the Map and make sure you're in the right order.
You run toward the origin of the scream, but as you are about to turn the corner into Garin's room, you're halted by the gruesome sight ahead.

There are zombies huddled up, tearing Garin apart chunk by bloody chunk and eating him.
I have no idea how many were with weapons- what else was I hit with?  Mostly weapons, right?

Also, 4.
@JM:You were also hit with magic and ranged attacks (not melee weapons).
But now I seem to remember a skullcleaver having a series of good rolls...

@Telchar: You can tell that he's already dead.  Only the most powerful of clerical magics can fix a removed neck. (Raise Dead)
You can see that Meepo is hiding out in the hallway.  He looks terrified.
Doriavan's up first
You can hear the splatter of blood leaking, dripping from the half-open mouths of the zombies.  They turn to look at you, and you see a sort of hollow realization come across their face as they realize that they are looking at more food.
