A220: You cannot "critically heal" someone.  Note the text on critical hits:

Quote
A critical hit means that you roll your damage more than once
Healing isn't damage.  Negative energy to an undead is healing, not damage.

Now, you can crit with a cure spell vs. an undead, or with an inflict spell vs. a living being, but that's not what was in question.

A 219B: Invisibility spells usually help get you surprise rounds as well.

A 216 No.

(you could have, you know, read the book :P)
Well, I looked in the SRD at skills and Intelligence, but I never thought to actually look at the headband itself.  I figured the ruling would be something more generic (like for all sorts of bonuses, not just enhancement bonuses).  Oh well.  Serves me right for looking in all the complicated places and not the simple ones!  :facepalm

Why do simple when you can do complicated ? ;)

Q221: What ways are there to reroll/not fail all (need multiples) 1s on Fortitude-saves? So far I've located Steadfast Determination and Pride-domain. Neither, of course, are within the books I'm working with (Completes, Races, MiC, Stormwrack/Sandstorm/Frostburn, ToB) *facepalm*

A 221 SD is the shit. Other than that you only have "generic" re-rolls : Luck Domain, Luck Blade, several items in the MIC (but they require an immediate action)... Oh, and the Diamond Mind maneuver(s) / items made from them.

Question 222: Is Mage of the Arcane Order a good way to regain spell versaltility that specialists lose? If so, how many levels will be appropriate?

Question 223: I saw posted by Dic that somehow Racial Traits could be used to fulfill Class Feature requirement for Prc's. I can't seem to find that bit in the RAW. Could someone point me in the right direction, maybe with a book and page number?

A222: It's a decent way. I'd suggest reading TM20's Guide to Wizards (currently posted by Dan2, IIRC).

A223: RAW, they can't. But it's not an unreasonable houserule, so check with your DM.

Q225: Is Rogue 1/Ranger1/Scout X viable as a build, with Swift Ambusher and Swift Hunter to get 19 levels' worth of Favored Enemy, Sneak Attack, and Scout abilities? Or is the Scout just too weak of a class for this progression to be worth taking over a Prestige Class?

A 225 I'm going to say it's viable. But in truth we need a comparison point to make a judgement : is the party going to be filled with Soulknives, with PsyWars or with Druids ?

A valid point. I guess a more objective question would be: Where would you place that build on JaronK's Tier List?

Q226: Is there a guide, or discussion relating to using the Generic Classes described in Unearthed Arcana (Warrior, Expert, Spellcaster) to qualify for some of the traditionally 'suboptimal' PrCs such as Black Flame Zealot. For instance, builds such as:
Spellcaster 5 (Bonus Feat: Sneak Attack ) / Black Flame Zealot X
as opposed to
Rogue 1 / Cleric 4 / Black Flame Zealot

High Tier 4/Low Tier 3, roughly.

A225: Note that Swift Ambusher advances skirmish with Rogue levels, but the opposite is not true for sneak attack and Scout levels.

With the build you propose above, you basically have three choices:
1)  Advance mostly as a Ranger, improving favored enemies and skirmish.
2)  Advance mostly as a Scout, improving favored enemies, skirmish, and the ability to qualify for ambush feats as though your skirmish damage were more sneak attack dice.
3)  Advance mostly as a Rogue, improving sneak attack, skirmish, and the ability to qualify for ambush feats as though your skirmish damage were more sneak attack dice.

Q227: Is there any FAQ, CustServ Response or even just a statement in Tome of Battle on how you can pick maneuvers over taking levels in a Prestige Class? A person claims I have to meet the class- and level-prerequisites to gain higher level maneuvers. For example, Swordsage 10/Master of the Nine 5 couldn't pick Devoted Spirit, Iron Heart or White Raven-maneuvers of a level higher than 5, since his IL for Warblade and Crusader, the two classes that have access to those schools, is only 10/2+5=10, which only qualifies them for level 5 maneuvers. I'm very sure this is wrong, but I cannot seem to locate any CustServ answers or a ToB page which specifically states this.

Q 228:
Do Prestige Classes count for EXP Penalties? If not, where does it say this?
