Dude, you guys are all clearly forgetting the best build ever: Fighter 20. All other builds are strictly inferior.
Not true. The superiority of the build comes from the roleplaying aspects of your build and it is the build itself that determines how your character should be roleplayed. While Fighter 20 is mechanically very strong, it can never reach the heights of my half-orc Wizard who started with an intelligence score of six because of bad rolls. Now I am at level 12 and in the last battle my Kroush threw his first cantrip. Unfortunately No light was useless our opponents had darkvision, but roleplay-wise it was great.
In short, I loathe all of you rollplayers. Learn to play the game and don't focus on the mechanics so much, it makes it impossible for you to roleplay.
Oh, but you assume that the Fighter 20 wasn't as enjoyable. Beginning with a Strength score of 1 (minimum), he overcame adversity on the battlefield where his fellow cadets called him weak and complained that he was only slowing down the squadron. These harsh criticisms greatly affected him and, in a fit of rage, he slew them all while they slept (coup de grace for the win...). After his blind fury subsided he realized what he had done and sought to repent, becoming a dedicated zealot of Pelor. After many campaigns against wicked demons and undead, however, he was struck down. He willfully threw himself between a demon and one of his own allies even though he had already suffered terrible injuries and knew that he would surely die. This tragic decision (in which he had the choice to save himself but not the opportunity because he knew he could only do what was right) made him highly enjoyable.
You have to remember that roll-play and role-play are not mutually exclusive. The awesome might of Fighter 20 can be made very enjoyable in terms of story and flavor, though I do admit that it tends to fall into the hands of munchkins as all b0rken builds surely do.
...And now I wish we had the :shifty: smiley.
I'm really glad with the group of CO-board members we have. It's a great combination of good senses of humor, wit, and optimization prowess.
