Infinite Electric Damage.... Uses other than death?
« on: October 10, 2011, 03:30:48 AM »
Using Leadership and Stormsinger's ability called Thunderstrike you get tons of Aid Another as a choir hits the high note. So... What do you do with it? Can you do anything with it?

It's not actually infinite, though, so you can't use it to pull off Omniscificer shenanigans. The only other good use I know of for that would be a shambling mound, but that's just a flat gain of Constitution per attack and you'd be better off just using a tiny +1 shock dagger or something.

Well no, not infinite. But with a redunkulous amount of followers giving plus two each, it gets nice.

It definitely is, assuming there's no limit to how many people you can have assisting on a Perform check. You're looking at three hundred plus before you factor in your own bonuses, although you have to tote around a small cathedral everywhere you go and spend two bardic music attempts a pop.

If you're working with a flesh golem, as long as it can't be killed within a single round, it's effectively immortal. Then again, flesh golems aren't great even with that backing them up, since they have an actual mechanic for how long they take to go off the deep end. (You could calm it down, most likely, but let's face it: It's not worth the trouble.)

There are probably other creatures that absorb electricity damage like that.

Also, the sublime chord gets the ability to do the same thing in a burst at 10th level, although it's a generic "damage" with no type.

There's a +1 LA playable race in Fiend Folio called Mechanatrix or something like that.  It heals from electricity damage.

It doesn't care about amount of electricity damage so much, but a zeugalak (Lords of Madness) increases its Dexterity by 1d4 points every time it's hit by an electric attack that did not originate from a zeugalak.  It loses these points at a rate of 1 per hour.  Roll around in a pit of shocker lizards daily and you could be doing pretty well.

You can take that down to +0 LA with the lesser version.

Yup in the first reply.

Isn't there a really annoying druid trick for wildshaping into plants, shaping into a shambling mound and whacking yourself with lightning bolts to shoot your hp and fort saves sky high?

Think it was LoP's Attack of the Clones. Shambling mound then Black Pudding, I believe. I guess instead I just have to use it for damage. Now how to get my choir compact. Do I need the entire body for a Revived Fossil template? Tons of itty-bitty Revived and Awakened skulls on my belt, necklace, in my braids, and so forth.

So far the smallest smart skeletons I can raise would be Grigs. Any other suggestions?

I have to say: musical animate skulls braided into your beard is just frigging cool.  When we did the whole Stormsinger thing, it was with a big brass marching band; your way's got way more style.

I seem to remember a Storm Turbine from one of the Eberron books that could absorb Lightning Damage to increase the speed of a ship or airship. Could be useful for your Dreadnought of Doom powered by "Flight of the Valkyries", you are going for a metal theme right?

Death Metal, as it were. And if that Storm Turbine is real and works on amount of damage.... I think I found my happy thought.

I'm sorry to say I can't find it, so I have no idea where I remember that from. Sorry.

It always seems like the barrels around here have something in them.
